I did the prepay option and the key pick up from the machine was simple. Just scan the QR code from your confirmation email. To find the car you have to go back two blocks and up the stairs (just follow the signs). Drop off took 5 minutes and no problems. Will use Goldcar again.
Terrible service, we payed for two cars, they gave us only one, so we had to buy another one. Their line of defence was that you can't buy two cars and pay with one credit card. Which would be understandable if we didn't write to their support earlier and their response was that it's okay. Also a few months back we had the same situation and there was no problem. Basically it was a theft for the sum of hundreds of euro. Terrible company and thiefs, especially a man called Jordi. If the management ever sees this review, I hope there will be disciplinary consequences for him. 0/10 would not recommend. Definitely won't ever again use their services.
Very nice to use the key collection service! The car was fine, just not cleaned properly on the inside. If you use the machine, you will not receive a card to leave the garage! The entire process was fine. We'll do this more often!
Everything was perfect or near perfect. Car was like new, check in and check out were no problem. Bit of a hassle with pressure to buy supplemental insurance, but we had already bought such a policy with Lloyds. Buying such a policy is recommended --just read the Goldcar reviews. Better to negotiate through Lloyds than on your own of you do get a charge
We reserved a car to drive from Girona to Barcelona and hand it there the next day for what was supposed to be 55 euro, which was charged on my credit card. When picking up the car they first said it was not paid and the total price we had to pay was over 300 euros due to extra costs that were not mentioned at the moment of booking. In the end we decided not to take the car and take our losses and searched for alternative transport. Be very careful with booking and all the extra cost they charge at the pickup.
Goldcar is not that great as they promiss. Dirty cars , look good for more damage as on the papers. Smaller car as we rent was given , asking extra money for bigger car as allready was on the pspers.
The car I rented today has more defects than Goldcar's damage schema document indicated. Practically ever panel on the car was damaged or scratched to some extent. I emailed them pictures (taken at Gerona airport car park) of the multitude of scratches & dents on the car which I also showed to a Goldcar employee at the scene. They haven't even acknowledged the photos taken on site. I must add that the car handles very poorly on the road & is dangerous on bends at moderate speeds. There are also traces of remedial paintwork on the car which suggest that there may have been repairs done to it in the past which are also not indicated in the damage schema document. I am concerned that the car may not be roadworthy & wouldn't be surprised if it is a repaired write-off. The car's external bodywork was also very dirty which I just as disappointing as all the scratches & dents. I would have asked for a different car but, unfortunately, I was under time constraints to meet a landlord at our destination & couldn't wait. Very poor & cavalier form indeed! Car collected Saturday. Wasn't clean, wasn't ready, smells of stale cigarettes, has over 64,000km on the clock and pulls badly to the right. Worst of all though it has more dents and scratches than you can imagine. Also was tried to be 'scared' in to taking out the full insurance at the cost of an extra EUR450+ incase when the 'mechanic' inspected it on return he deemed it was more damaged. Not sure how he could see anymore damage to be honest!! Read all the previous reviews and thought surely it can't be that bad. It is. Go next door to Hertz, there cars seem to be much better condition and worth the extra money. Edit: No additional charges were taken from my credit card which is acceptable, however the condition of the car was still appalling.
