We were provided a vehicle without back up camera and only found out too late after pick up. Such info needs to be given up front to customers. We would have wanted a different vehicle.
I have rented cars all over the world and have never had an issue with a car rental organization prior to my experience at Seville's Europcar. Upon picking up the car, the agent seemed most concerned about talking me into a more expensive car and selling additional insurance to me. I did not want a larger car because I would be driving and parking in tight spots. I did not need additional insurance. I have used the car rental insurance provided by my credit card in every country I've rented (except Ireland) without any problems. Refusing both, the checkout process was still lengthy. When I finally was directed to the designated car, I was surprised to find significant damage to the the front right headlight, body and wheel of the car. I have never rented a car that was damaged before but I did not want to return to the terminal and begin the process again after two long, overnight flights. Because no one is in the lot to go over the car, I was instructed to take a picture of the car. I did take a picture of the significant damage but not the entire car. The trip went well and I didn't have any problems with the car. However, at the return the attendant noted a scratch on one of the doors and insisted on charging for that. The fees were around $350. I do think this rental agency runs a very shady business and now I will never rent from Europcar again.
We needed to make a change in our car and Alejandra was absolutely amazing helping us. It was a 10 out of 10 service and appreciated as always from Europcar
Because of a misunderstanding (from our part), there was a contract made, which we paid. We canceled that one and made a second one immediately after. The salesman, Sergio, assured us our money from the old contract would be back within a day. Sadly, it has been over a week, and we still don't have our 630 euros back. We spoke multiple times with customer service, but because we don't have the old contract number (they didn't provide it), They can't do anything for us. We just have to wait. Edit: we are already in touch. Multiple attempts. 'You can't do anything' but ask for a number we were not provided.
Picking up the car in Malaga was good and without any issues. We checked and took pictures of the whole car. Except the tires. And guess where they found a "new" damage. On the tire next to rim where an old damage was reported already. We did not have a single situation where this damage could have happened and we assumed it was already there when we picked up the car. The lady who checked the car showed us the damage on a picture. Afterwards she did not only refuse to talk to us, she also was not willing to show us the damage on the actual car. It got even better when she asked a random guy who was working there, but not even for Europcar, to send us away. He sent us to the office inside the airport. They at least talked to us, but were also not willing to answer any follow-up questions that we had and were just pressuring us to sign the damage report. Long story short, if you don't have an insurance with them, but a third party, they will find something and make you suffer for it.
DO NOT USE EUROPCAR! If it was an option we would be giving a Xero rating for Europcar Seville Airport. 5 days after we returned the car to Europcar Valencia airport we discovered NZD $282 had been charged to our Visa card. We received no communication from Europcar about what this charge was for, or any statement/reconciliation. When we dropped the car off it was inspected and petrol level checked and we were told it was "Perfect". We have emailed Europcar multiple times asking for an explanation and have had either inadequate or incomprehensible responses. We paid everything that was mentioned on the voucher given to us at time of booking plus the extra driver and one-way fee at the time we collected the car. This money has been stolen from our account and we will never use Europcar again or recommend Europcar to anybody, ever. There is no integrity in this business. The woman who served us at Seville Airport when we were collecting the car asked if we would give her a Google review and said she gets bonuses if she receives a certain number of 5 star reviews. We are very pleased that we did not choose to review at this time. Particularly as we hadn't even seen the car at that stage and really any reviews should be all about the car not the person at the counter at the start!! Trying to resolve this situation and get our money back has taken a lot of time and produced no favourable result. AGAIN, DO NOT USE EUROPCAR unless you're fine with money being taken from your Visa with no explanation.
If you want to feel like you are renting a car in 1999 then euro car is for you. It took almost 2hrs to get checked in with only 3 people in front of me. They do an endless amount of paperwork for each thing and this the check in to take ages. The return is equally as bad with more paperwork. It's also the kinda place that wants you to take photos of the car otherwise they will nickel and dime you for minor scratches. Better off just paying a little extra for a better provider.
ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID! This service doesn't even deserve one star. We rented a car from Europcar at Seville airport, and the experience was disastrous: 1) Unnecessary insurance upsell: The agent insisted that we take out scratch insurance, which was quoted at EUR25/day. However, the total amount he provided was significantly higher. When we pointed out that it didn't add up to EUR25/day, he casually responded that additional taxes applied. It's important to note that this insurance is not mandatory, and in most cases, it's already covered by a Mastercard or Visa card. 2) Incorrect deposit amount: The agent requested a deposit of EUR800, which was supposed to be refunded at the end of the rental. Upon checking our reservation document, we found that the deposit mentioned was EUR500. After bringing this to his attention, the agent checked his computer and acknowledged the error, confirming that the deposit would indeed be EUR500. This lack of professionalism is unacceptable. 3) Poor damage inspection: The agent provided us with a document listing the existing damages on the vehicle and informed us that we had 24 hours to report any additional damages not mentioned, or else we would be held responsible. Once we inspected the car, we discovered numerous very visible scratches that were not listed. No agent was present to inspect the vehicle with us, which is unacceptable. 4) Incorrect email address: When we tried to report the unlisted scratches, Europcar provided us with an email address to send the photos. To our surprise, the email couldn't be sent because the address was incorrect! After calling back, another operator gave us a completely different email address. This chaotic handling of the situation is simply outrageous. 5) Unjustified charge: When returning the vehicle, the Europcar agent conducted a quick check and assured us that everything was fine. I signed the document and received a copy via email. The next day, I noticed a charge of EUR10 for fuel, deducted from my deposit, even though I had refueled just five minutes before returning the car. Why tell me everything is fine only to charge an extra EUR10 later?
