I had a very disappointing experience with TopCar during my recent trip to Lanzarote. Instead of a standard deposit hold, they processed a regular transaction on my credit card, causing significant currency conversion fees both when the deposit was charged and refunded. At no point were we informed about this in advance, even though the company claims they always inform customers. This led to doubled the price of the car rental. When we addressed the issue, the staff simply told us we could have purchased extra insurance to avoid the deposit issue. Furthermore, we weren't the only ones--another couple in line right behind us had the exact same problem. Overall, I'm very dissatisfied with the service and lack of transparency. I would not recommend renting from TopCar unless you're ready for unexpected costs and poor customer communication.

Nice little car. paid for the super insurance as that's what I felt more comfortable with worked out about an extra 5 euros a day which is worth it for peace of mind. A very positive first time experience using this company. The online check in process is extremely quick and straightforward and massively speeds up the collection of the car. More rental companies should offer this as I've had some extremely slow pickups in the past (looking at you Recordgo Mallorca) but not with top car. The car was absolutely spot on and at a good price direct. My wife was 2nd driver which is gratis if booking direct so would recommend doing that for sure just to keep options open. Finally the drop off was also quick and easy and my deposit was refunded within a couple of days on my return home. The only negative for me albeit a small one is the fuel policy. I much prefer a full to full it just keeps things fair. I collected the car with 3 quarters of a tank or a touch under and returned probably a little more than that. Just something to bare in mind. In all a great company to deal with and will certainly use again when we return to Lanzarote.

This car looks like the car without any damage during the standard picking up. Nobody do not wanted to wrote those multiple damages into the check-in paper. We had the full insurance. But they are will write it if you will not pay for any insurance - basic!

Great experience, booked car via Rentalcars. I couldn't pick up the car on time so I called before and they let me get there 2 hours late without any fee. For just couple more EURs they provide full insurance with no deposit needed. The return was smooth as well, just drop the keys at their office at the terminal and that's it.

Fourth year in a row I have used Topcar and every year has been excellent. This year we got an upgrade as I asked for automatic car. The service at the desk was excellent, I was in and out within 10 minutes as I already sent my details online to them. The walk to the car was 5 minutes and car was to a high standard and looked new. It was clean and tidy and I had no issues when I examined the car for damages. Overall a great company and I would highly recommend them.

It was a very good service from TopCar side both at the delivery and return of the car. Very quick pick-up despite the fact there were 7-8 people in the line. We were also very satisfied with the car - Skoda Kodiaq. It was in very good condition, like new. We especially liked free child seats provided by TopCar. It was a huge relief for us that we didn't have to take our car seats with us from home! Many thanks TopCar and see you next time!

I had a horrible experience with Top Car at Lanzarote Airport. When picking up the car on November 1st at 9:00, the wait was endless due to an office change that no one adequately explained. The organization was terrible and they made us waste valuable time. Not to mention that they did not give us a hybrid car as we had requested and charging us for additional insurance that they had never informed us of. The return on November 3 was even worse. At 8:45, the employee at the counter completely ignored us, preferring to take calls rather than help us. It took him a long time to serve us and, to make matters worse, he informed us with a bad attitude that there would be additional charges for parking in a place where we were never told that we could not leave the car. The same clerk refused to give us the complaint form and identify herself when we asked. We had to call the company for help because the treatment was derogatory and unprofessional. To make matters worse, I forget a sweater in the car and they leave me waiting repeatedly. They hang up on me and dont answer me. (They are left with forgotten things) In short, terrible service that created enormous stress for us and almost made us miss our return flight. I do not recommend this company at all, especially because of the lack of respect and customer service.

A las 8:45, la empleada en el mostrador nos ignoro completamente, prefiriendo atender llamadas en lugar de ayudarnos. Tardo muchisimo en atendernos y, para colmo, nos informo con mala actitud que habria cargos adicionales por aparcar en un lugar donde nunca se nos dijo que no podiamos dejar el coche. La misma dependienta se nego a darnos la hoja de reclamaciones y a identificarse cuando se lo pedimos. Tuvimos que llamar a la empresa para que nos ayudaran porque el trato era despectivo y poco profesional. Para colmo se me olvida un pullover dentro del coche y me dejan a la espera reiteradas veces. Me cuelgan y no me atienden. (Se quedan con las cosas olvidadas) En resumen, un servicio pesimo que nos creo un estres enorme y casi nos hizo perder el vuelo de vuelta. No recomiendo esta empresa para nada, especialmente por la falta de respeto y atencion al cliente.

We rented the car (Fiat Panda) via Lastminute.com by taking out additional insurance (also a little more expensive than that offered at the Topcar counter) Arrived on 25/10 we only waited 10 minutes (not many people it is true). Courteous and efficient welcome. The car in the parking lot adjoining the airport was almost new and very clean, a small scratch on the bumper, not reported at the counter, led me to point it out to the employee in charge of the parking lot who told me to take a photo. On return on 2/11 at 6 a.m.: parking in the indicated parking lot and dropping off the keys at the airport counter, with a little apprehension about the fate of the label (following another conflicting experience elsewhere) since no one received the return. The refund of the full deposit arrived on 5/11, 4 days after the return including we! Conclusion: excellent value for money service!

La voiture au parking attenant a laeroport etait quasi neuve et tres propre, une petite rayure sur le pare choc, non signalee au guichet, ma amene a faire la remarque a lemployee chargee du parking qui ma dit de prendre une photo. Au retour le 2/11 a 6 h du matin : stationement au parking indique et depot des cles au guichet de laeroport, avec une petite aprehension sur le sort de la griffe (suite a une autre experience conflictuelle ailleurs) vu que personne na receptionne le retour. Le remboursement de la caution integrale est arrivee ce 5/11 soit 4 jours apres la restitution we compris! Conclusion : excellent rapport qualite prix service!

!!!ATTEMPTED SCAM ALERT!!! We rented a car for a week with comprehensive insurance from Top Car at Lanzarote airport. Our rental went very well until the day of our departure (as if by chance). At 7 a.m., we received a WhatsApp message from assistance (verified number) saying that the local police had contacted them because our vehicle had the engine on all night (for 9 hours). The police then allegedly deflated the tires. We were therefore accused of negligence and we had to pay 1200e for the towing of the car and to bring a new car to return to the airport for our departure flight. However, the story does not add up on several points: - If the car engine remains on, if you walk away with the key and lock the doors, the car will honk twice to warn the driver. - We rented a thermal car, the engine can be heard very well both inside and outside. - Anyway, luckily we have proof (time-stamped photos) that the car was indeed turned off and locked. - Presence of keys with us all night. - No police report - Sending a questionable payment link by message without the presence of an invoice justifying 1200e. - We took out comprehensive insurance and yet they ask us for payment. - Why tow a car without any failure? The tires should have just been re-inflated. Without any help from them, without paying 1200e, we managed to reinflate the tires on our own. As luck would have it, no one told us about this story again when we dropped off the car at the airport. Moral of the story: be careful who you rent a vehicle from and take photos every day of the car upon arrival, at each parking lot and at the drop-off.

Or l histoire ne colle pas sur plusieurs point: - Si le moteur de voiture reste allume, si on s eloigne avec la cle et qu on verrouille les portes, la voiture klaxonne deux fois pour avertir le conducteur. - On a loue une voiture thermique, le moteur s entend tres bien autant dans l habitacle qu a l exterieur. - De toute facon, par chance, on a des preuves (photos horodatees) que la voiture a bien ete eteinte et verrouillee. - Presence des cles avec nous toute la nuit. - Aucun constat de passage de la police - Envoie d un lien de payment douteux par message sans presence de facture justifiant 1200e. - On a pris une assurance tout risque et pourtant ils nous demandent un paiement. - Pourquoi remorquer une voiture sans aucune defaillance ? Il aurait fallu juste regonfler les pneus. Sans aucune aide de leur part, sans payer 1200e, nous avons reussi de regonfler les pneus par nos propres moyens. Comme par hasard, personne ne nous a reparle de cette histoire au depot de la voiture a l aeroport. Moralite de l histoire: faites attention a qui vous louer une vehicule et prenez des photos tous les jours de la voiture a l arrivee, a chaque stationnement et au depot.

Horrible experience. 1) Problem #1: First sign that this company couldnt care less about its customers is that when you arrive at the airport and look for their office inside the terminal and you wait patiently until someone from the staff inside the office pays attention to you, they rudely ignore you, finally after you speak with them to ask whats going on and why they are ignoring you, they more rudely tell you that you have to go out of the terminal and wait outside, which doesnt make any sense at all. 2) I booked and pre-paid a car in the category of a corolla or equivalent and they had for me a tiny Renault Clio with extremely high mileage. Clearly to anyone with a minimal knowledge of cars a Clio is not in the same category as a Corolla, nevertheless the employee was insisting that it is because her computer says so. When you ask may I speak with a manager, the answer is there is no manager, the computer software is all they have to go by and have no right to use their brain. They (the computer) charged me double the original price for a week to give me a car similar size as a Corolla but which I found extremely low and difficult/painful to get inside for anyone taller than 175cm. 3) After I inspected the car I found out that the car had so much body damage everywhere, the employee shrugged and said we know, you just have to take pictures of all these damages. 4) Finding the car return location is extremely difficult. They know it but they do nothing to help their customers. Given how extremely difficult it is because there are two adjacent entries right next to each other if you choose the wrong one you are in big trouble. Given that this is the case this company should provide a map of the parking lots with clear car return map instructions. To make matters worse topcar office in the car park share the same building with Hertz, which makes it extremely difficult to find the topcar office, unless you had been there before. 5) Upon returning the car, they said thank you very much and didnt give me any receipt closing the contract. When I checked my AMEX account afterwards I realised that instead of taking an authorisation at the time of rental they had already cashed 900 from my account since the time I took the car. They never told me about this when taking the car and didnt say anything when I returned the car about how quickly they will re-imburse these funds back into my account, after I returned the car in exactly in the same condition I took it and with a full tank of gas. Reading the reviews It seems that several other people had similar problems, expecially regarding huge amount of money taken from their account and withheld without the customer realising that this is happening to them until too late. It is also interesting that all reviews are either one star or five stars, which makes me doubt the veracity of the five star reviews. The one star reviews seem genuine and all include the complaint about this unusual trick of actually cashing the customers money instead of simply taking an authorisation as is the standard throughout the car rental industry. I wonder if one day after they trick a good lawyer or someone who knows a good lawyer, this company may find itself in big trouble. My horrible experience with this company wont be over until the 900 they took from me is returned into my account. I really feel that I have been de-frauded on two counts: the 900 they should not have cashed and make me anxiously wait for it to re-appear in my account AND they de-frauded me in the car category promissing a Corolla or equivalent only to propose a very high mileage Clio and then to double the price to give a car the size of a Corolla. I dont wish this unpleasant experience on anyone.
