RUN AWAY!!! This Hertz at SLC is the absolute worst rental car experience I've had in 25 years! I rented a standard vehicle and they tried to put me in a tiny compact SUV. I could not fit 2 suitcases in the back and the front seat touched the back seat so literally no passensger could ride in the back. The girl trying to help me would speak arabic to her coworker so I could not understand what they were saying. That is incredibly rude and unprofessional. IN fact, THE ENTIRE STAFF WAS FROM IRAQ an spoke in arabic the whole time I was trying to get helped. They moved me to antoher vehicle where everything was touch screen even though I specified that I only wanted knobs b/c you can look at a touch screen to turn on the heat when you are driving down a highway - NOT SAFE. They kept me there 3 hours trying to overcharge me for a standard vehicle that would fit my luggage. I have been in this airport 3 times in the last month and used Alamo/Enterprise and had perfect and seamless experiences....NOT HERE. Then, on top of that, they want you to pay extra for your spouse to drive the car which I have never in my life got charged extra for a spouse. They told me my spouse could get added when we landed so that I could go ahead of him. That was also a lie. My husband arrived and they would not add him. I am disgusted with this business - will never use them again and will continue to leave bad reviews anywhere I can to warn people to not use HERTZ - you need to fire everyone at SLC and start over!!!! and tell them that they are in America where we speak english to customers...not talk about them in another language while they are standing right there.
As a President Circle member, you can bypass the counter and choose any car in the designated area. I was super lucky to find a Volvo XC40. This gentleman named KB was at the exit booth. He was super welcoming making sure everything was in good order and the check out process was extremely smooth. Thanks KB!
I rented with Hertz specifically because they promised to waive the underage driver fee for AAA members. Before booking, I called and was assured this wouldn't be an issue. I proceeded to book through Hertz, and the quote clearly reflected no underage fee. At the gate, the quoted price matched what I saw online, and I even confirmed with the staff if the fee was waived. I showed my AAA card and was told everything was in order, so I left assuming all was fine. However, when I received my receipt after checkout, I was shocked to see the underage fee included. I immediately spoke with both an employee and a manager, but was bluntly informed that it was "impossible" to fix this mistake. The only reason I booked with Hertz was for this waiver, and now I'm left feeling completely misled and ripped off. After this experience, I will never book with Hertz again.
This is a completely deceptive company. They do not clearly state their policies on their website, tricking you into renting from them. For example, regarding AAA member benefits, their website claims that if you are a AAA member, you can add an additional driver for free. However, in reality, they require both people to be AAA members. For President's Circle members, their website guarantees upgrades and the widest selection of cars, but in practice, they only offer this if you pay for a mid-size sedan. They do not provide any upgrades for lower-tier choices. Even paid for the mid-size sedan, vehicle in President's Circle zone only have SUV like Ford Edge, not like other comments saying there have Mercedes GLS. I even cannot find a Ford Explorer. Their vehicle maintenance and cleanliness are also very poor. The car I rented had the check engine light come on during the return trip, and there was an invisible oily substance on the floor that stained our white bags black. Their service is equally disappointing. When I noticed the check engine light, I immediately called their roadside assistance. The representative instructed me to drive to the nearest Hertz location to exchange the vehicle. However, after driving ten minutes at my own risk to the nearest Hertz location, they refused to provide a replacement and told me to drive three hours back to Salt Lake City with the check engine light on. Their customer service on Messenger only offers apologies and absolutely no compensation for a distressing trip! Avoid this company at all costs.
BEWARE DO NOT RENT FROM HERE I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the recent car rental experience I had with your company. I believe it is important to bring these issues to your attention so that you can address them and improve your services for future customers. First and foremost, the condition of the car I rented was unacceptable. Upon picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a crack in the windshield and a tire that appeared to be in poor condition. Unfortunately, my concerns were justified when I had to visit not one, but two different mechanics during my trip due to a bad tire. This unexpected inconvenience forced me to reroute my entire trip and waste valuable time that could have been spent enjoying my vacation. To make matters worse, I had to spend an excessive amount of time on the phone with three different agents from your company in an attempt to seek assistance. It was incredibly frustrating to be passed around and not receive the help I needed promptly. This lack of efficiency and communication only added to my frustration and wasted even more of my precious vacation time. Furthermore, it became apparent that the car I rented was in dire need of an oil change. This is a basic maintenance requirement that should have been taken care of prior to renting the vehicle. It is unacceptable to provide customers with a car that is not properly maintained and poses potential risks to their safety. Additionally, I was shocked to discover that the wrong tires were installed on the car I rented. This not only compromised the vehicle's performance but also put my safety at risk. Driving with our hazard lights on below the speed limit due to the bad tire was an embarrassing and uncomfortable experience. To add insult to injury, I was forced to pay out of pocket to replace and fix the tires, which were clearly the responsibility of your company. It has been a week since I returned the car, and I have yet to receive any reimbursement for these expenses. This lack of accountability and failure to address the issue promptly is completely unacceptable. Lastly, the most frustrating aspect of this entire ordeal is the inability to get through to anyone at your company to resolve these issues. I have made numerous attempts to contact your customer service department, but my calls have gone unanswered. This lack of responsiveness and disregard for customer satisfaction is deeply disappointing. In conclusion, my experience with your car rental company has been nothing short of a nightmare. The combination of a poorly maintained vehicle, multiple inconveniences, lack of assistance, and the inability to resolve the issues has left me extremely dissatisfied. I strongly urge you to take immediate action to rectify these problems and provide me with the necessary compensation for the expenses I incurred. I hope that my feedback will serve as a catalyst for positive change within your company. As a customer, I expect and deserve better treatment and service. I sincerely hope that you will take my concerns seriously and make the necessary improvements to prevent other customers from experiencing similar frustrations in the future.
I am a Hertz President's Circle member. I booked an SUV for a trip with friends and reserved a luxury SUV with 7 seats. I arrived at the board and saw my parking space. When I got there, it was a brand new Mercedes GLS 450 with only 5 miles on the odometer. The car was fantastic and the experience was also. It was a very pleasant surprise to get that car and be the first renter. I wish that happened more often. I would have chosen this car anyways, but it would have been nice to see some variety in the aisle.
I was initially apprehensive due to numerous negative reviews, but my personal experience was smooth and hassle-free. Gold members can directly pick their car with the keys already inside, and simply drive to the exit to finalize the paperwork. There are over 20 cars to choose from. Even if you' re not a gold member, there's no queue at the counter. As it was my first time renting from Hertz, the staff provided thorough assistance and explanations. Their patience and friendliness were commendable. Returning the car was also a breeze. After a quick inspection , we received our receipt and were on our way. Overall, a highly positive experience.
Nearly 2 hours to get a car. Only 1-2 people working the counter with more than 40 people waiting in line. Eventually two more Hertz employees started working the counter and things moved along. My turn came, and no car in my class was available. So for a mere $20/day more, I could get an upgrade, or choose to wait 30 minutes while a car in my class was cleaned. I chose the latter, waited and got my decidedly mediocre full-size car. Scratched, some dents, a hasty paint cover up, and a hole in the driver's seat are what greeted me. Upon exit, I was directed to three different checkout booths, due to technical issues. The staff were polite, the car drove fine, but the total experience, my first with Hertz, was disappointing.
