Great Service and prices....
Wasn't sure what to expect as I usually only use the big car companies but was pleasantly surprised by rent a star. Mercedes a class in great condition and super clean. Very professional guy on the front desk. Fair policy around cleaning fee, happy to pay it and was advised in advance. No additional fees to pay, credit card was unblocked on the spot. Will use again.
Good and modern Mercedes cars for a small price. Friendly Employees and Airport shuttle service. 4/5 would book again. Deducting one Star for - 15EUR surcharge for cleaning of vehicle but to be fair it was very clean as I got it (like new) - Opening times 8AM to 8PM, for returning a vehicle outside of these times there is a 45 / 65EUR surcharge depending on the time. They have no keybox to drop off the vehicles outside business hours - I was given a A250e Hybrid, but with empty battery and no loading cable. So basically I had a very heavy petrol car as I couldn't really use the electric engine.
A good experience for us for car rental during our Portugal trip. We initially booked an A Class Benz which turned out too small for the 4 of us with luggage. We upgraded to the larger C class and it was prefect. The only "issue" we had was the extra charge of 15 euros for not washing the car before returning it. It was not pointed out to us when we initially rented the car. This is the first car rental for us ever that had this charge. If we had "prepaid" for the wash, then the charge was only 10 Euros. We felt that after a 9 day rental that charge would be included.
Checkout was disastrous. Almost an hour and a half until we got out, most of the time was spent filling paperwork. Very much over the top and the information ought to be with them in advance anyway. They demanded 10 euro for cleaning the car. They missed marking some small damage in the car, it was overall a stressful checkout. Checkin was fine, very efficient. Car was good condition.
Would definitely not recommend this to anyone. They charged us for a scratch the car had before with some weird explanation. People also could not speak English and didn't want to communicate.
I've rented through rent a star lots of times and always had a great experience. Great cars for much less than other car rental companies. Staff are friendly and never had any problems.
Good checkout experience, includinga free upgrade to a fantastic car. Only one start deducted because they didn't meet us at the airport. Possibly that was a mix-up with the booking platform, though.
