I would not recommend using Hertz at Palma Airport. Despite booking through Hertz, the service is actually managed by Firefly Car Rental, which operates under Hertz. I typically avoid lesser-known, budget car rental companies, as their business model often involves attracting customers with low prices and then pressuring them into upgrades or additional insurance. If you decline these extras, they may later claim damage and charge you. Unaware of Firefly's involvement, I booked through Hertz. As other reviews had warned, I refused the expensive insurance upon arrival. The staff assured me that the car was damage-free and advised me to take photos if I noticed any issues, with timestamped images serving as sufficient proof. While the car itself was fine, one wheel had pre-existing scratches, which we documented with photos as instructed. When we returned the car, we were told to drop the key in a box. True to the concerns expressed in other reviews, a damage report arrived two to three days later, charging nearly PS300 for the wheel scratches, which was debited from my card. Despite sending multiple emails asking where I could submit the timestamped photos to prove that we did not cause the damage, I received no response. Unless you are willing to pay for an upgraded car or the expensive excess insurance, I strongly advise against renting from this location. The low initial price is just a tactic to draw you in, but you may end up paying significantly more either through costly add-ons or unsubstantiated damage claims after your rental, with little to no communication for dispute resolution.
DON'T RENT FROM HERE!!!! SCAMMERS!!! If there was the opportunity for 0 star would've picked it. The worst company ever amongst car rental companies. They just try to steal and scam your money. Unprofessional to the level that they send you a "traffic violation" ticket(55EUR) with 2 days notice and then force you to pay it or else they WILL double the price? Except that where is the proof of the incident? How you i know that they aren't lying and scamming? But i did pay that amount...after few weeks they send me another charge with amount of 40EUR and it's also "traffic violation"? completely untrustworthy service and unprofessional with every possible way. Can't even call them and also emails they haven't been answering. For your own sake don't waste your money and rent a car from here!! You gonna be in trouble and headache!! Genuinely saying.
It was a very quick experience for us. We've read reviews saying it takes ages but we lined up, he gave us our keys, informed us of everything we need to know and signed papers. We got our car within like 10-15 minutes. I do think finding the car park for Hertz was a pain though....but probably because we are foreigners but it took us so long to find it when we had to return it but overall, it was great experience, I'd recommend it. We got a very new car aswell!
If only negative stars were an option! I was handed a damage form to sign *before* seeing the car. Wait...what? When I finally got to the car, I had to hunt down an employee because it had a dozen dings and scratches that weren't on the form. Enter Rosalie (I think?), who seemed ready to do battle the moment I asked about the mismatch. I'm not sure if it was her rude attitude or just how things roll now in Mallorca, but the vibes were definitely suss. So, maybe give this Hertz agency a miss unless you enjoy ugliness.
Complete scam, awful counter service, lying and committing fraud! We were 'greeted' by a lady at the counter who wanted us to upgrade our car to a more expensive one - obviously not going to happen (why would someone spend time choosing a specific car online, to have someone at the counter insist we get a more expensive one). She would not take no for an answer for ages and we felt she pushed too much. She then tried to scam us into paying for 'super' insurance, saying that we had booked this online previously, and continued down this route even though I clearly stated that I didn't book the super insurance because I didn't want that. We managed to convince her that we weren't going to pay EUR200 on top of an EUR80 rental cost for 4 days. She was very annoyed at this and treated us with a rude and cold manner once we weren't going to pay for this super insurance. She made us feel stupid and insisted that we would have to pay lots and lots of money 'when' the car was damaged. It affected the beginning of our holiday and made us feel quite sad and angry and how we were treated. The car was fine and in a good condition. We went around the car and pointed out the damage that wasn't on the report to a hertz employee who said, "yes no worries thats all accounted for, don't worry". We did our holiday, no damage to the car, and checked it out at the end of our holiday. We couldn't be there for the inspection as we had a flight to catch. A few days later I am charged on my card for EUR148 with no explanation, no communication other than an email simply saying that they had attached a receipt, and the receipt was a very confusing pdf which didn't explain anything at all. I email the customer service explaining that I had a random charge and please could they fix the obvious error. I was emailed back saying that there were damages to the car and they provided a photograph attached to the email. The photograph was not of the car we had rented. They said we had caused a scratch to the front left rim, I checked our photos and could see the logos on the tyres and the air valve didn't match any wheels we had on our car, and also you could see no damage at all at check out on the photo I took. The first photo is the photo evidence they supplied, the 2nd photo with red circles is our wheel, and the 3rd is ours with clearly no scratch at all. They are very clearly committing fraud, and I will be pursuing this fully to get the refund. This is a joke of an outfit and should be shut down! Please don't use Hertz anymore, and please report Hertz Spain and Hertz Palma Airport. I have just looked at the reviews and feel stupid for not checking, would have never used hertz had I known.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERE UNTIL YOU READ THIS REVIEW! The prices look the same as the other car rental places. I booked online and was fairly sure I had clicked on comprehensive insurance coverage. When I got there, they told us insurance was around 130 EUR per day on top of the price. We always take the insurance as we don't want any issues on holidays. When we took the keys and went to the car we thought it through and felt the price didn't make sense. It was 2000 EUR for 10 days of rental. We went back to cancel the booking. They wanted to charge for 1 day but after some arguing they agreed but bit without some attitude when I asked for them for a confirmation of the cancellation. Avis right next door was 1000 EUR for the 10 days, full insurance coverage, no online booking or special rates. The car was older but very serviceable. This place is straight up a scam. The insurance pricing is extortionate. And if you read the other reviews, you'll see people get charged extra for scratches etc if they didn't take up the insurance.
We arrived at the airport at 2 AM. There was a huge qeue to pick up the car. We spent more than 2 hours to have our car. We booked and paid a Mini Cooper, but there was no Mini available, so they gave a Ford Focus. The lady on the front desk was complaining about her problems "I'm working 3 hours more every day" and she screamed with the clients without any reason, taking her bottle of water to the floor!!! It was unbelievable Everyone on the qeue was stanished about this behaviour.
I had a bad experience and felt that the staff lied to us at the Hertz shop at Majorca Airport. During my rental period, someone tried to steal our car overnight. When I went to the shop to report it, the staff showed no compassion (not that we needed any), but instead, we were only asked to pay the full excess fee of the vehicle (1200 EUR) for the damages caused by the criminals. I asked to keep the vehicle (which was fully operational and I didn't care about the damages) and pay for the excess fees once I returned it in 3 days, otherwise I wouldn't be able to transfer that amount from overseas on time, and I would need to get a taxi to return to our hotel (which is 2 hours away from the airport). The manager of the shop was then called, and again, without any understanding or attempt to show compassion for what had occurred, he said that there was no other way and we must pay on the spot if we wanted a car again. Furthermore, he said that the reason why we couldn't take the car back was that they couldn't rent a damaged car and that they needed to call the police to make a report of the incident. This would have been understandable if they had actually asked me about when, where, and at what time the theft was attempted, but nobody did! To complete the bad experience, after sending my money from Australia, I was able to get a car. But it turned out that the new car we got was even more damaged than the car we returned to the shop! It had 360-degree scratches and dents all over! Although I have hired vehicles from Hertz many times, I do not recommend this specific shop. There is much room for improvement! I've attached pictures of the damaged car from the criminals (the gray car) and the replacement car provided (silver car).
