I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Europcar in Oviedo. We were charged an unexpected Premium Package fee of EUR41.91/day, totaling EUR304.27 for six days--an add-on we neither requested nor were informed about. We pre-paid through a third-party site for the week. During our interaction at the Europcar Oviedo Bus Station office, the friendly representative never mentioned the additional Premium charge or offered the package. She asked if insurance covered us under my booking and credit card, and I confirmed yes. I signed the rental agreement assuming it reflected the additional services I requested, which included an extra driver, not this additional, unnecessary charge I never asked for. When I raised this issue with Europcar after we returned the car in good condition, they sided with their representative multiple times. They refused to acknowledge a misunderstanding might have happened in any way. This lack of accountability and unwillingness to recognize a mistake/misunderstanding is very disappointing. I had asked for a partial refund for the additional charge or a future Europcar rental credit. My third-party booking company felt bad about the situation with Europcar (you were double-charged?) and offered something as a consolation. Not one centimo from Europcar. As a loyal Europcar customer in the past, I expected better transparency and customer care for what I see as a one-time issue where we could find some agreement. I travel frequently worldwide, and other car rental companies, hotels, airlines, and third-party travel sites have been far more understanding and gracious. I will not be renting from Europcar again and recommend others exercise caution when reviewing their rental agreements at the pick-up location and dealing with this company. Update 2 days after I posted this: Europcar responded to this review and asked me to fill out a form on their UK website to look into it. Today, they sent me another email from Europcar Spain saying I signed the contract, so it's my fault. No changes. Please stay away from them.
servicio nefasto. At least here they reply. i have been waiting for almost 2 months for an answer. Your customer calls service is deplorable. The email one, they dont reply so idk. Please if you care so much about the issue, check the case#21127368 on customer service.es and answer or call me there.
They couldn't have been more helpful - I left an item behind in the car and their communication and politeness was a credit to them. Very impressed!!!
The car was nice and the pick up went pretty smoothly but be very careful when booking on the website where the price looks good value in comparison to what they charge in the end (more than double the original price). Make sure to take pictures of everything BEFORE you leave the car park and AFTER you bring the car back (especially of the amount of gas in the tank) because charged me extra for a supposed 7 liter difference. Customer service only replies in Spanish when asked for an explanation and they only refer to "the conditions" whatever that means. Just be wary when booking a car here and make sure you read every letter of the conditions.
Europcar London Gatwick. Totally ripped us off by putting extra insurance without asking. Said the extra was a deposit. But it wasn't and was never returned. Be careful.
Rented from this particular location several times. No complaints - helpful staff, easy return of the car, never had any surprise additional charges of any sort.
