Mayan Drive Car Rental in Merida

I rented a minivan for a one day trip from Merida centro to Tulum centro. Reservation was done through WhatsApp, and I was asked for a $3,000 MXN reservation fee that counted towards the final cost, which included full insurance coverage. They also promised to drop off the vehicle at my address on the reservation date. One day before the reservation, Alfredo Yah (one of their staff) contacted me through Whatsapp and all communications and coordination was through him thereafter. He was very professional all the time, and responded in a timely manner. Alfredo gave me ample notice and arrived early at our address, where we finalized the reservation plus the card hold. He then instructed me that we'd meet in Tulum's bus central the following day to give him back the vehicle. Moments before exiting Merida, the clutch on the car got stuck and I was not able to change shifts and no longer able to move. We texted Alfredo and he went to meet us as soon as he was able to. Once he arrived, he managed to purge the clutch and get it back to work. He did offer to swap with the vehicle he arrived on, but the minivan size was absolutely necessary and the SUV was not big enough for our load. I decided to continue our trip with the original minivan. Alfredo drove behind us until we reached the highway to exit Merida, to make sure he was around if the clutch got stuck again. Fortunately, after he fixed it, the clutch was working even better than when we started the trip. After arriving Tulum and unloading the minivan, it didn't turn on again, as if the battery had run out. I informed Alfredo about the issue, and even though it was late at night he responded he'd take a look the following day after he arrived to Tulum as well, and that we'd meet were I parked instead of the bus terminal. The next day Alfredo took a taxi from the bus terminal to where I parked, and didn't charge us extra for it. Once he arrived, he was able to fix the car easily after tightening a loose screw holding the battery. Alfredo filled the tank we were unable to due to the car not turning on the night before, and charged it from the card hold. Overall, I'm really happy with the staff and their responsiveness, how professional and helpful they were when dealing with the mechanical problems the vehicle had. I can't leave a 5 star review because of the hiccups with the vehicle itself, but can't make it less than 4 because I'd definitely recommend them as it's likely this is not a widespread issue with all their vehicles (I hope!!)

The service was outstanding! I highly recommend this company, they are affordable and their service is amazing. They brought the car to our hotel to ensure my husband would fit in the car as he's 6'4 and a big guy. They dropped the rental off and also picked it up when we were done. Great communication and they were very accommodating. Would definitely use again.

I will never use another rental company again! Mayan Drive has absolutely the best customer service. I could get ahold of them at any time with a prompt response, there were no hidden fees, and the price was great!. The car was clean and they installed the booster seat for my daughter. I would recommend them to anyone traveling to Yucatan!

We rent a minivan there and everything has been perfect. Mario's employee was at the airport to welcome us, the van was perfectly clean, not new but in excellent working order, with new tires and all options. We had a little issue with one safety belt and Mario fastly sent us a mecanic at our home to repair it. The transaction has been smooth from beginning to the end, no hidden fee, no waiting at a desk, everything great. Highly recommended !
