Be prepared to pay more 5X than quoted on Expedia or have a hold of 16,000 dollars. I rejected their plans and chose to take Ubers instead since it would be more economical. Expedia prices are not honored unless you're willing to put a hold on your card. I can't stand these rental places. They're all so shady.
Was charged 50$ for a tiny mark on a plastic wheel cover. They will nickel and dime you. Would recommend renting from somewhere else.
Stay away! Read the reviews! Euro car is a rip-off. I learned from the first time I came to Merida. You got me once, you won't get me twice! You send off customers with tires that will go flat after a few miles. Then you charge them the cost of a new tire. I purchased your roadside assistance, and when the tire went flat, low and behold, the insurance you sold me didn't cover that. I saw 5 cars with flat tires, same make and models as ours. You don't honor Expedia or any other travelers insurance. Stay away from this place! They prey on tourists and look for vulnerability. This year .. I used Uber, and it was super cheap! Every year that I come to vacation here, I will continue to update my review :)
BEWARE Unsafe car and terrible rental experience at Europcar Merida,I rented from this company a few times last month and had gotten good new kia normally I rent Avis but decided to switch since I had gotten a couple lemons,First thing I told the lady at the Fiesta Americana when she me gave this car was wow it what are these black marks and stickers ,she told they tried to remove them but could not get them off not even off the wind shield that ubstrected my vision when driving see attached picture ,she said it was new yet the car has high mileage,i decided to add a few days and specificly told the lady I would keep it and return at airport for my flight back to USA,when I arrived at 5:15 A.M thegate to return was closed took me a while to get someone to help me finally after asking the bus driver where there was someone he just laughed and said se estaba maquillando putting on make up,thats funny but I have a plane to catch ,finally a guy comes out and scolds me for not returning it to Fiesta Americana never heard of this being a big deal before and told him the lady probably forgot to put it on since she was trying to attend to 2 other people at the same time,so he takes a look and tells me one of the wheel has a scratch a dark spot that looked exactly like all the other sticker marks the car had and asked if he could check with lady before to make sure they had not taken pictures he said no that was my responsibility and then starts pressing me to pay 985 pesos cash! Fo it which seema very weird,Avis actually takes a video of the entire car before giving you the car and sends it to you.
These guys will nickel and dime you for bullshit. After paying for insurance for both cars we returned them to be scrutinized for half an hour. They found a scratch on the plastic hubcab which we documented in the video we took of the car when we picked it up. They said the video was too blurry and they charged us an additional 800 pesos. Total bullshit. For a scratch on a plastic hubcab? They would have found something somewhere to extract extra. We just paid because we had to get to our flight. I have a feeling they do this all the time. Edit: When I picked up the car I was very specific about not using fuel service. I returned the car completely full. I am doing my expense report now and apparently they added $27.08 of fuel service anyway to the charges. I recommend avoiding the business completely.
Very fast transfer from the airport to the Europcar garage. The office is clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful, especially Ramon Villasenor who speaks good English. Highly recommend!
Service is very good. Usually I rent my car with this company an so far no issues.
They put our lives and the lives of our family in danger. Read on: We rented a small economy car for a week's vacation while in Merida including trips to local attractions. We were planning on doing lots of highway driving. The first day we had our car we had a tire explode on the highway while traveling at speed. This was a very scary experience. We called to get help from them and were only offered roadside assistance for an extra $3800 pesos and they wouldn't pay for another tire. The blowout damaged the bumper and other parts of the car and was extremely scary. We were in the middle of nowhere and had to pay to get a new tire put on so we could get back safely. Upon inspecting the other tires, we found the tires to be mismatched and only to have 1/32nd of life left. Clearly, the tires needed replacement for quite some time. When we finally got back and returned the vehicle to get help from them, we were disappointed in their treatment and even though they covered damages, we had to pay extra to cover a different car with more insurance and something we could feel safer in. If you choose to rent from them, please make sure and check the car before you drive off. Check the tires, especially. Don't risk the lives of your family or your loved ones just so you can save a few pesos.
