America Car Rental in Merida

Never rent a car from this place, they give you car after driving 10 miles check engine light turns on, you get charged for hidden fees and they try to rip you off as much as possible. Be ready to pay an extra $150 for a bad car. They don't respond to phone calls and the service representative at the counter showed a lot of attitude when we asked if we could leave a list of the car's issues for manager. Bad cars and worse service.

Scammers. Rented a car through Expedia and requested a drop off at their Cancun location, so thought everything had already been paid for. They charged ridiculous amounts on top for insurance and extra again for the drop off in Cancun (which had already been specified, so should have already been paid for) not to mention the awful customer service. Ended up with a car that they should be ashamed to charge people to rent which ended up getting a flat tyre within an hour. Well of course this flat tyre wasnt covered by their exorbitant insurance fees and they ended up charging for that on top of everything else. All up it would have been cheaper to rent a chauffeur driven limo to make the 3 hour trip. Avoid at all costs.

They charged me exactly what I expected. I booked beforehand with Uber and paid under 500 pesos a day for a nice but small rental car. They didn't try to upsell me on insurance, the mandatory costs were already included in the price. I extended two times and that was easy. Overall I was very happy, I expected to be scammed because renting a car in Mexico can be very expensive for a gringo, but no, I got what I paid for and nothing less, that makes me a very happy customer. Once I returned the car my whole deposit was returned to me

Very disappointed! *FRAUD ALERT* Staff was friendly and helpful. We rented a SUV for the seven days of my mothers visit to Mexico. The rental was very expensive! $27794 Pesos ($1949 Canadian) including insurance. The SUV was clean, but the windshield wipers needed replacing and were quite bad for viability in the rain and the tires were not inflated properly. My biggest issue was I was double charged the full amount and when I disputed it with my credit card company America Car Rental disputed my dispute stating the double charge was valid. Thankfully I saved the receipt and documents to submit for investigation, but had I not noticed the double charge on my account statement I would have ended up paying an absurd amount... I am not sure if it was done in error but the fact that they tried to dispute it makes me think it was intentional. Needless to say I will not be renting with this company again and I advise people to check their credit statement if they have.

We had a good experience, there was no pressure with the insurance issue. Carla Gomez helped us in the return of the vehicle, she was very helpful. Overall great experience.

Avoid this place!! They'll try to make you pay for their faulty vehicles, even when it's nothing you could've possibly done to the car and then try to hide behind the insurance policies. Saying the policy you paid for doesn't pay for that specific damage. Hertz was a WAY better company to work with. They don't rent out faulty vehicles and is only a short walk away from this place.

WARNING! WARNING! Scam artists. BE AWARE. Do not rent from this place. After finding an incredible price online, I had fully prepaid for my car reservation (including full insurance) through Expedia). The first sign that something was wrong was that the company name in my reservation (Flexways) did not match any of the dealers on sight at the airport. After much asking around, I was told that it was the same as another company (America Car Rental, which is also called Infinity Rental). THE DIFFERENT NAMES. You go figure!!! When I arrived to pick up the car, they said that the insurance I had obtained only covered the bare basics required by the government (not a full cover, despite me showing them that it said it was fully covered). According to them, this insurance worked through a claim system. If I had an accident or something happened to the car, I would be charged fully for the cost, and then, I would have to file a claim with Expedia. After arguing back and forth for half an hour, I basically had two options, buy additional insurance with them for another $400 or leave a deposit of $5000 with my credit card, and if anything happened to the car, I was fully responsible for it! In addition, I had reserved a mid-size SUV (Hyunday Tucson), but the only car they had for me was a Chinese Changan branded car that looks like a cheap and very compact SUV. This car is definitely cheaper and of substandard quality. It struggles to accelerate when you floor it. I ultimately had to accept their terms and get it, as this was going to be my source of transportation for the 10 days I was here and did not want to loose the money I had already prepaid and invested in it. I was extremely disappointed with these thieves, as in my previous visits to Merida, I've never encountered these issues.

I have been having a great experience at American Car Rental. They have taken good care of me and my requests. Jared Rosada has been amazing at assisting me every time I have rented from them. She's kind and patient and very helpful.
