Painless rental experience. I paid what expedia price showed and they honored the expedia's insurance third party. I declined Alamo's insurance and left the 700usd deposit with the credit card. Only downside is 10mins away from the airport. I rarely give 5 stars. Thank you!
I like the service from this particular place since they don't ask you to pay upfront when you want to rent a car, you actually pay when you pick up the vehicle but you won't see the charges on your credit card a few days after you return the vehicle. I love this, because if there were any unforeseen situations before your reservation, you can always call them to cancel and you won't be charged on your credit card. Besides, their prices are very competitive better than Europe, Avis or Enterprise. The last three times I reserved, my car was ready and I was good to go within 10 min on average. I had such a horrible experience with AVIS and EUROPE, they charged you in advance and their employees are rude and do not care about the customers when you visit Merida. I highly recommend Alamo.
I really like renting from this location. The prices are fair, there are no surprise charges or scams. We've booked here several times in Merida. If it's not peak season we just show up to the kiosk in the airport. I've found it's sometimes cheaper than booking online. I'd give a shout out to their driver Raul and the lady in the office, Fatima. They have both helped us a few times and Fatima specifically does a great job of explaining everything in English and Spanish. The cars are really nice too. We got a great deal on a small SUV with a child seat this month.
Best service of rental car company! Thank you Mr. Francisco! Didn't worried about for insurance part, also good tips of travel in Merida!
We had a great experience renting from Alamo. We were nervous to rent a car, as we had heard many horror stories from others that had rented cars in Mexico. The rental is fairly expensive, came out to about $100/day. But we had been prepared for this as the Mexican insurance is expensive and you must have that for a rental. So I think if you go in knowing that it'll be pricier than renting in other areas it is fine. We also operated with the possibility that we would get our $500 deposit back, if they were picky with scratches or sand in the car, but they weren't and we got that back no problem. There also wasn't a line on the front or back end, where I've rented cars in the USA before and the lines are very long. Isaac was very helpful and friendly as was the rest of the team. He gave us his personal phone number if anything came up we could call him. The car ran great, we drove it all over Merida to Tulum and back.
Genuinely painless experience with a rental car company which is saying something. Eric spoke great english and was helpful in understanding our rental. David took his time to walk me through the car and it's needs. Everyone we worked with was amazing and the drop off process was seamless even though we needed to drop off the car before hours. Would highly recommend for anyone renting a car in Merida.
I don't even know how to start.we booked and paid everything like with 2 months of anticipation for not having any problems. We rent in Alamo because althou it was more expensive than the rest normally they honor quite well the reservations. Well that time is long gone. Super rude people and the manager even worst. I had a crying baby with fever with me and they just simply wanted to charge us again the booking. We show them our reservation and the invoices.. they didn't care. We paid for child seat for the car. They literally gave us a wooden box instead. It was so late and I needed to drive still for a while we needed to take the box as child seat since we didn't had any other option. I tell you if you want to rent in Alamo playa del Carmen, better burn your money and go walking at least you will not get upset nor deal with rude, unpleasant people
They said we need to buy the 3 million liability insurance, that it was mandatory, the rental went from $220 to $800. I declined and said that Expedia booking has $750,000 mx third party insurance included and they said they do not recognized Expedia site. I said it is optional like it says on their promo card they would not budge so I declined use UBER it is cheaper.
