Such lovely staff! Really helpful and took the trouble to take us to the car and explain the controls & sat nav. We have used Sixt on a number of trips in the USA & Europe & quite frankly wouldn't use any other car hire company. The man working at the Santander airport office is particularly helpful.. wish we could remember his name! Thank you!
They scammed us, charging us an extra "Minimum excess L" we didn't book, resulting in 6 days * 33 = 199.74 EUR even though declining it at the counter. We already have coverage through our credit card. Also, our flight was delayed (outside our influence), and I called ahead of time because this location would be closed before we land (which is okay, as we just wanted to pick it up the next day), however, I had to call 3 times before they confirmed that I'd be able to still pick up the next day. Initially I was told that I'd still have to pay, and they can't guarantee that we'd be able to pick up the car. Again, a bad experience, because of them scamming their customers, instead of being honest and upfront.
Rented cars from this location multiple times, the staff is always beyond friendly which is very rare these days. Location is easy to find, cars are always new and clean. Never had an issue with them charging me from the deposit for bogus damages like other companies. Go for sixt if you don't want any headaches. Congrats for the really good services and really nice staff at the Santander airport.
Great attention by the staff, showing me the options available and the car. The car looked and smelled brand new, completely clean, it was like getting a brand new toy at the store.
My booking was without additional insurance as I have that already in my travel insurance. I confirmed this at the desk when picking up the car. Yet the additional insurance was added but when signing on an electronic device only the signature area was visible and in good faith you assume it is as per booking. We got charged an extra 300 Euro for 4 days. The guy at the desk also tries to sell you a full tank of petrol in advance claiming that works out better. Almost nobody will end up at a large airport (Barcelona) with an almost empty tank. I changed my review from 1 star because after my review SIXT was quite helpful to refund the additional insurance charged. They could of course see that I had booked without.
We rented a car and were told to buy the loss damage waiver and we were assured it would "cover everything inside and outside of the car". However we noticed that the hubcap was missing shortly after we left the airport - should've checked before but the staff did not check the car with us and they didn't tell us to at the time - we figured if the hub cap fell off it would be covered within the loss damage waiver (as we didn't damage the car or remove the hub cap, it was maybe poorly secured or not even there to begin with!!) we were strongly encouraged to purchase. However, when returning the car, we were told we would be charged for it. However they can't prove it wasn't there beforehand? Don't they check their cars before renting them? It's funny because they didn't give us the car we actually booked, probably so that they could scam us out of the money. Feeling very stressed that we will be charged additional costs and the man at the desk was very rude and patronising when we were asking questions about the deposit return and what will happen. It maybe doesn't matter to him but these things undoubtedly cost a lot of money and we were sold something under false pretences. AVOID! Horrible experience
I had to pay 221 Euros of full car insurance, despite having paid Ryanair already for the full insurance. It turned out that the insurance was not with the car rental but with Ryanair, therefore in case of problems, I had to pay SIXT and then ask for a refund from Ryanair. Highly dodgy because the rental mentioned by Ryanair was with Flizzr. So, perceiving the highly dodgy situation, I bought an insurance again directly with SIXT. The car was not in good conditions. Incredible for a new car. I have rented many times in my life, in different countries. Easily this was the worse experience.
Sandra and the team were excellent. Easy pick up and return. Had the childs car seat ready. Made sure we were happy with everything. Very friendly. No issues with the car. Good service. Will use again.
