Do not use this company. They just scammers. Returned car, and they said car has damaged bumper. When I asked where, they said you should try by hand it is scratch under, it is not visible but you can feel it. They want 300EUR for that. Adding photos of "damaged" bumper. I rented cars so many times, first time dealing with this...
When we arrived to pick up our vehicle, the staff was very friendly and clearly explained the procedures for both pick-up and return. Since we had full insurance coverage, the only deposit required was EUR100 for fuel in case we didn't fill up the tank before returning. However, our experience on returning the vehicle was disappointing. The staff member we dealt with was unexpectedly rude, particularly when he demanded the car's documents. We informed him that the documents should be in the same place they were when we received the vehicle. His response was dismissive, suggesting we could have removed or discarded them, which was unprofessional and uncalled for, especially so early in the morning. It left us feeling uncomfortable, especially considering it was only 7 a.m., and he was just starting his day. Additionally, the car had no window cleaner fluid, which was an inconvenience, especially on long drives. Management should look into both the maintenance of their vehicles and the attitude of certain staff members to ensure a consistently good experience for customers.
Service was great and.polite. Only disappointment is that I didn't manage to get volvo xc60 and was initially offered volvo s60 which has lesser boot space. Eventually I took Peugeot 5008 at a slight incremental cost.
I had a very disappointing experience with this car rental service in Portugal. From the start, I encountered several issues. First, there was no clear instruction on how to obtain the keys, where is the machine located, and after waiting in line, I asked an employee what I needed to do. He simply told me to keep waiting as he was attending to a client from the priority queue, without offering any further assistance. When I finally got the car, there was zero explanation about the vehicle itself or how the toll system works in Portugal, which is essential information for someone unfamiliar with the process. Unfortunately, this lack of guidance led to a serious accident. As I approached a toll gate, I was unsure which lane to choose. While I was trying to figure it out, a large truck hit us. To make matters worse, when the police arrived, they asked for the car's papers, insurance, and registration, none of which were in the vehicle. I almost received a EUR2,000 fine but was let off with a warning. Following this, I endured a nearly 5-hour wait for the towing truck and taxi. Upon returning to the rental office, no one seemed to care about the fact that I had just been in a serious accident. When I tried to explain the situation to a staff member, she seemed more concerned with the possibility that I might want a second car. I showed her the police report and clarified that I did not want another car. She curtly told me I could leave. As I was about to depart, she suddenly chased after me, asking me to sign a form written in Portuguese, which I couldn't understand. This experience was incredibly frustrating and distressing. The lack of support and concern from the staff was shocking, especially considering the severity of the accident. I would not recommend this service to anyone.
Eutopcar is always good. Quick transport from the terminal and a quick run through paperwork and then out on the road. We ended up with a Toyota Yaris hybrid. The fuel efficiency was amazing. Lots of driving over 25 days and only used a tank and a half of gas (and it's a small tank of maybe 30 litres)!
Overall, poor service was delivered at this location. I completed the entire check-in online, yet at the desk, I was asked the same questions and often tricky ones trying to make me opt for additional services without clear explanations. The car assigned to me was in poor condition, requiring an oil change the entire trip (1250km). I expected more and better from Europcar, specifically at the check-in.
Always take a video of the car before you rent it. It was my mistake that I didn't take a video. I haven't paid attention to the rim, which was slightly damaged before me. As a result they are trying to charge more than EUR110 for the past damage. You can see that tyre is safe, if the rim is damaged the tyre will be damaged as well. I won't return to this car rental anywhere in the world.
Rented for a week from 26 May to 1 June; Europcar Porto Airport is located just outside of the terminal, just 2-3 mins drive. There is a frequent shuttle service operates 24/7. I see that all the rental car companies are just outside of the terminal but within the terminal compound. Got the booked car, did not purchase the insurance as I had a company insurance for rental cars although there was a little push from the sales person to purchase the insurance. Otherwise everything was perfect! At return met Mr Santos and he was a really nice person, return went really well with greetings and guidance. I would recommend this rental company.
