Worst car rental company ever. I am not sure where to start with them, but avoid record go at all cost. From the time I rented the car my experience of this company has been aggravating. Employees are extremely rude, my car was suppose to be a "perineum" however was in a terrible condition with damage all over. Employees give you misinformation and aren't helpful with answering questions. Please, I encourage you to read the reviews on here and trip advisor and you will understand. Dropping the car off was a nightmare because its extremely confusing to find the lot and Record go's booth is very tiny and rundown. I asked the employees twice how to enter the right lot and she said "im off and going home". The company charged me 1800 euros deposit. Again, please read the reviews online first, this company is scamming people and you will have hidden and scam charges no matter what. Cheap pricing is how they lure you in and then scam you. My entire trip was ruined because of having to deal with this BS rental company. Do yourself a favor and go with any other rental company. I dropped my car off last night and today they charged me 350 dollars for the damage that I did NOT do and I knew this was going to happen after I read the reviews for this company. I have pictures to prove this but I know they will not make it easy to get my money back. Also they did not give me a refund for me adding extra fluids to the car which I was advised by their representative will be refunded. The reply you guys see below is for show only, as they do not respond to calls or messages. Below are pictures of the car prior to me picking it up. Just look at the condition of this "premium" car and service
Re: we did made a comply, nobody is answering, the platform doesn't work to contact you, no phone number. You have all the details you can also contact us. Re:We booked a car through Booking and we haven't received our deposit of 1200 eur back. The car was exactly how they gave us, no additional scratches from our side. This is how they gave it, even we considered it is quite bad. We are waiting for our deposit back asap!
Employees at Barajas Airport are rude and aggressive. I extremely recommend avoiding this company. 1- I picked the car, and the documentation that I received from the rental company showed that the car has 2 small damages (scratches). I completed a review, and I found that the car has 9 significant scratches. The car rental company clearly states that you are responsible for any damage minor or major after you complete the inspection, which is a normal and expected policy in any car rental company. So, I went back to the car rental office, and I requested the staff members to add in the car report the 7 new scratches I found. However, they said they couldn't do this, and they mentioned that they were closed even though it was not yet 11 pm (close time), and there were 3 new customer behind me (It was 10:40 pm). In addition, they told me that I don't know how to speak English even though I'm a Canadian citizen and all my driving records are from Canada and wife is Camadian and her only language to communicate is English. They took from my credit card 900 euros deposit (normal and expected policy in any rental company) and as I mentioned above, any new damage that is not in the report may impact and delay any deposit return. So, clearly the rental company didn't want to document the new scratches and take advantage. Once I return the car, I request an inspection in front of me before I leave to get back my deposit and have 100% guarantee the car was return in the same condition was retruned. They declined this option. So, once again, I need to argue and fight for an inspection, which finally they did after 25 min. I wasted energy and time, and I have a bad experience. I was planning my vacation and have a bad experience. I'm looking to get a car in a decent condition and comply with the rules in the contract as they are, but this company wants to take advantage of customers and don't follow rules. In addition, I was insulted by 2 staff members.
Just picking up a car (IGAR category) and the lady in the counter said all their cars are in similar condition like the one in the pictures. She added, you must get this one cause we don't have any other available. The long wait in their place feels like an oven.
In July 2004, we booked a car online through another service provider to pick up at the Record Go Madrid office. We also paid extra for an all-inclusive insurance cover. First, I must say that after booking, we read reviews about the company and became very worried. However, we took the risk because of the reasonable price, and we didn't encounter any issues. When we went to pick up the car, the staff attended to us and clearly explained everything. There were no surprises. Some reviews mentioned that they tried to sell additional insurance, but we did not experience this. The employee offered us two options for insurance: paying a non-refundable fee (around 100 euros) for comprehensive insurance or making a deposit block (around 900 euros, to be refunded). Since we had already taken out an all-inclusive insurance from the other service provider, we chose the deposit block. We also paid a 75-euro deposit for fuel. We were told that there would be a daily fee to use the car in another country. However, the staff also mentioned that if we were not planning to leave the country immediately, we could pay this fee at another branch when we decided to cross the border, so they helped us avoid overpaying. Finding the car in the parking lot was a bit difficult, but we eventually found it. The staff insisted that we take a 360-degree video of the car when we picked it up, saying that we could use it as evidence in case of any disputes. We did as they suggested. When we picked up the car, we noticed that some issues listed on the rental document were not actually present on the vehicle (likely because they had been repaired), and we found a couple of minor issues that weren't listed. However, since we had the video, we didn't worry too much about it. We drove approximately 2500 km through Spain and Portugal. Everything went smoothly. On our way back, we filled the tank at a gas station less than 10 km from the airport. We then returned the car without any problems. The 75-euro fuel deposit was refunded within a couple of days, and the 900-euro deposit was fully refunded a week later. We managed to rent a car at a good price and received great service. It's very important to understand the terms and conditions correctly when renting a car. I suspect that those who encountered problems might have had issues due to a lack of understanding. I hope everyone has a pleasant and enjoyable car rental experience. Safe travels to all!
I have rented twice from this company (Record Go at Madrid Airport). The first time when I took their insurance the experience was good. But the second time when I did not take their insurance because I used the insurance on my credit card, I was treated to the scam others have also written about. On returning the car in perfect condition, they instantly looked on the windshield where obviously they had planted a minuscule scratch, so small it was not visible unless you knew what to look for. Although I had taken video of the windshield when I rented the car it was impossible to see such a tiny scratch on the video. Still they said it was damage I caused. I had only driven the car in a residential neighbourhood and only a few times to the store and back, never on the highway, so I am sure nothing hit the windshield. It was clearly made by them to scam anyone who does not pay for their insurance. The damage they claim I did is not even visible on the photo they sent as proof. Not only that but they actually sent a photo of a different car! I am posting a photo taken by me (my phone and hand are seen reflected) and the photo they sent where the car top is black, unlike the car I had which was white as seen on my photo. They charged 613.16 EUR for the damage. I recommend to STAY AWAY from this rental place and not trust their replies to reviews. They have demonstrated beyond doubt that they are swindlers.
Mostly positive experience, despite the worries I had after reading the reviews here. The fuel deposit wasn't mentioned in the voucher, but apparently you can not avoid it, and it was returned next day after car was dropped. Was offered with an automatic car instead of manual, for the same price. The car itself had plenty of scratches, literally every surface had some issues, but only 2 of them were mentioned in the give-away sheet, and I took the risk of taking it like this, filming carefully all the body before leaving the parking lot. Personnel was friendly and polite, not very pushy in selling their own extras. The deposit was unblocked in ~10 days after return.
The price was great and we didn't know the local conditions, so we booked there using an external platform. There, it showed we would get a Seat Arona or similar. After getting a significant experience with renting cars (30+), this one won the ,,worst to date" category by far. As ,,similar" to Arona, the company seems to see a *very* used Chinese car with nearly 60k km, with scratches on most elements. The car was dirty, to the degree that I could barely see through the windshield. The front wipers should have been replaced long ago, because they make driving risky. (The exterior pictures were taken at pick up)
