National Car Rental - Madrid, Plaza de Espana in Madrid

I booked a SUV big and nice car, and I had to stick with a small ecconomy car. I booked an electric car for 9:00 am but the car "was not ready" and by 9:45 am they told me I can take it with 50% charge or to waut 4 more hours for fully charge. In addition they offer me to replace this car with the only avalible car - a small ecconomy car, and refunded me for the differences... only 15 euros /day. Plus I booked unlimites milage and I found out the new small car has a limit of 350km per day. It's a scam. One more thing - I booked automatic car - and I got a manual one as well... I wrote today to the manager with no reply, if they will - I will update my review.

We had a fabulous experience renting from this location. Jose was very helpful and efficient at getting us checked out. We forgot our bagels that we had bought from Starbucks on the counter. Jose called us the next day to give us a credit because they finally ate them after waiting 2 hours! Thank you for giving us such good service!

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with this car rental company. Despite making a reservation well in advance, they failed to have the car I had booked ready for me. The level of unprofessionalism was astonishing. On top of that, the agent I interacted with was shockingly rude and unhelpful, showing no concern for my situation. It's disheartening when a company can't fulfill their basic promises and treats customers so poorly. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go through such an ordeal with this car rental service.

Office is in underground parking, good service and late return option a bonus. No hassle and reasonable cars.

Located in the first level of underground parking under Plaza de Espana. Difficult to find the entrance due to construction at the Plaza. Ask for directions for the return if construction is still going on when you rent. Great staff and they had the car I wanted ready per my reservation.

It is very hard to find. However, the manager, Diego, is very kind and accommodating. To find it, go to Torre de Barcelo. Then look out over the square. You will see a parking ramp. Cross the parking ramp streets and then you will see a small staircase going down for "sixt". The staircase is also across from the metro stairs. Go down the stairs with the label "sixt" and you will see the booth there.

They confirmed me by email a reservation, but when I got there they said they did not hava a car available for me. There was not even an apology! All other car rental agencies were out of cars, and I almost missed my appointment would it not be thanks to SIXT, where they were very freindly and were able to get me a car, but of course at a 50% higher rate than originally reserved with National.

Attendants have the worst possible attitude towards the customer. The place is hard to find, location is definitely not convenient. Far from the brand experience expectations.
