Literally the worst car rental place in this airport (including their sister companies at the same pick up desk). They make their policies up as they go along and they have ZERO customer focus. I first rented one month ago through Rentalcars.com and on presentation of my UAE license (I'm a resident my a U.K. national) they refused to accept it even though I have used it internationally for 15 years. Luckily I had my U.K. license with me and they accepted this in the end. The key point to note - I rented a PREMIUM CAR with ONE credit card. Fast forward 1 months, rented again through RC.COM, this time I had an international license, but they then refused to rent to me as I only had ONE credit card and it was a premium car. The lady in charge was incredibly unhelpful and could not understand that the precedent had been set one month earlier. She simply refused to help, told me to contact RC to rebook elsewhere and then had the audacity to give my car to another customer why I was there. As I say, the very worst. Avoid, avoid, avoid at all costs.
Never book with them!! A very very disappointing experience! Should have read the previous reviews on this double standard rental agency. So apparently its not the first time that they deal with their customers in such an unprofessional manner, and in a biased way! At madrid airport, They refused to give us the car stating that we didn't have a return ticket with us (although we have a european residency!) . After we booked a return ticket on the spot and showed it to them, they still refused. We dunno what the exact reason was, but apparently there was no car available for us and they were just trying to come up with any excuse to hide their unprofessionalism. After I contacted booking.com to cancel my reservation and issue a refund, the agency refused and started coming up with invalid excuses and lies( they claimed they couldn't give me the car as i didn't insert arrival time on the booking, i mean really?!) The worst customer service ever! We went straight to Hertz and booked a better car with a lower price, and guess what! They didn't even ask for a return ticket! Be careful before booking with this company! They can come up with any reason not to give you the car and claim u didn't conform to terms and conditions just to steal ur money!
We made a reservation through Costco and the terms and conditions clearly state that an international drivers permit is required only if the drivers' license is in a different language AND characters than the country rented in. This led us to believe we did not need the international permit but upon arriving we were turned away because we do not have one with us. Be warned that they also strictly require two credit cards, hard copy (wallet/digital format not allowed) in the name of the renter/driver in order to rent with them. We were luckily able to rent with a nearby company who said that this manner of business by Alamo and Enterprise is bad business and not law in Spain. We wouldn't have been so put out by this had they been clear about the requirement when the booking was made. But the terms and conditions seem to clearly contradict this policy. They turned us away with zero effort to help us or visible care whatsoever for the predicament this put us in. The three groups before us as we waited in line all had similar issues and were also each turned away. These businesses seem to not actually want customers.
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Alamo/Enterprise rental office on Friday, September 20th, around 1:58 PM at Terminal 1. The lady working there exhibited blatant double standards in handling customers. I arrived to pick up my reserved car, presenting all the required documents, including two valid driving licenses from the Middle East, both of which were more than 10 years old and clearly written in English. Despite everything being in order, she rudely demanded that I provide an international driving permit and refused to give me the car I had reserved. Just minutes later, at 2:02 PM, another customer with an American driving license arrived. He was given his car without any such additional demands. The stark contrast in treatment was undeniable, and it left me feeling extremely frustrated and disrespected. This kind of inconsistent and unfair service is unacceptable. It's clear there was a double standard at play, and it's shameful that this behavior is allowed at a customer-facing business. I expect much better from Alamo/Enterprise and hope this issue is addressed so no one else has to go through a similar experience.
Our recent experience with Alamo Car Rental was frustrating and disappointing. After arriving at the rental location, we were made to wait for an hour with no explanation about the delay. When my partner asked why we were waiting, we were finally informed that they didn't have a car available for us. This lack of transparency and communication was aggravating, especially when the staff told my partner to relax instead of providing any information. As a result of the delay and lack of a vehicle, we missed an important appointment later that day. Overall, the experience was unprofessional and inconvenient. We expected better customer service and accountability from a reputable company like Alamo. We hope they address these issues to prevent similar situations for other customers in the future.
Although most of the comments were negative I rented a car from Alamo in madrid Was very fast we didn't wait a lot after entering the office. We booked Nissan qashqai but they gave us a better and larger car - new Audi Q3. We paid 240EUR insurance for 8 days And a deposit 200EUR that has been released once we return the car. Our experience was excellent.
I picked up the car at at Malaga train station and dropped it at Madrid airport where getting to the drop off location was a hassle. I was quite skeptical after going through customers' comments and ratings but my overall experience has been good. The deposit money was credited back to my account within three days.
I was interrogated by Andres Vargas and Maima Becker. It was a very unpleasant experience. They appeared with white lenses and light stabs investigating th car. They already knew I had the basic insurance and of course they found a scratch which apparently was not there before. It's a rip off and a shame for this company. How can you please treat your customers like that? Be careful of them!
