Worst rental car experience for several reasons: * Car Condition: We rented a Volkswagen Polo for one day on Monday, October 28th. The car had 77,000 km, which wouldn't be an issue if the car were well-maintained, but that wasn't the case. The clutch had serious problems--at times, it would stop engaging altogether, and the pedal would go soft, making it impossible to shift gears. Driving through La Palma's steep roads was challenging in these conditions, even for an experienced driver. For anyone less confident, this could have been a real safety issue. You may ask: why didn't you ask for another car then? Well, the first time it happened, we were already over an hour away from the hotel. With a baby on board, turning back would have meant returning the car and not going out again. * Customer Service: We were initially told we'd receive a discount, but at payment, that changed. When we requested a baby seat, we were told it was "no problem" and we weren't asked for a fee until, after we'd already paid and started walking away, a staff member came running out to inform us that we'd need to pay extra for it. It's not about the 6EUR for the baby seat or the discount; it's about transparency and accuracy in communication. Last but not least: We also returned on Wednesday to rent a second car, but the office was closed. We stopped by at 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm, and no one was there. We tried again Thursday morning at 9:00 am, waited 20 minutes (even though opening time is 9:00 am), and still, no one showed up. In the end, we went to another agency outside the hotel, which offered better cars, lower prices, and far better service. Autos Oasis is conveniently located inside the H10 Taburiente Hotel, so it's easy for guests to go with them without checking other options. But don't make the same mistake we did!

La Palma is a beautiful island but with challenging roads, lots of height difference and serpentines. When we rented the car it was rented with all inclusive insurance. At the time of the pic up at the airport we were informed that the insurance does not cover wheels nor tires. We decided to add 54EUR special insurance to our package to be safe. The car we have picked up had already 102.000 on the clock (I never had a rental with that much mileage ever) the car was ok but the tires looked already very used (see pictures) during our stay the alert of loss of pressure came on. Oasis emergency service took about 30 mins to respond. The answer was take the spare tire and change it yourself. Not what I had expected at all having paid and insurance. After long complaints oasis send a staff to change the tire for us. It took another 50 minutes for him to reach us. Rental cars should be well maintained and it was not the case with our car. I would not rent another car with Oasis and really recommend you look for other more well known names instead. The roads in La Palma are really mountainous and you want to be safe!

We hired a Kia Picanto for the day from the La Palma Princess Hotel office. The staff were helpful and friendly and made the process seamless. The car was like new, had excellent air conditioning, Apple CarPlay connectivity and all the other things you expect. We managed to drive around the whole island in a day visiting a few places on the way (see my other reviews). An excellent car hire company with great cars in such a remote location!

We had a really good experience with auto oasis. We booked online and since we arrived by boat and were leaving by plane we set the pick up/deliver at the airport of la Palma. We were staying in Brena Alta and it was quite a walk from there to the airport. We called auto oasis and explained our situation and they told us it was possible to pick up the car from their office (which we didn't ask for, but was really close to our house). It was even possible to pick up the car a few hours earlier with no extra cost. When we picked up the car the staff was really friendly and helpful and they gave us some good tips/advice for the car. The tank was full and agreed that we would deliver it full again. No extra cost or whatsoever. The car itself (Kia Picanto) was really nice, brand new and clean. We haven't had any troubles with the car. The day before we left we asked if it was possible if we could return the car an hour later than scheduled and this was no problem whatsoever. Not even any extra costs. I would really recommend this car company, no hassle or anything, friendly and helpful staff, one of the cheapest of the island and an amazing clean car. (Really economical in fuel). We would recommend this to all our family and friends if they ever visit La Palma. If we ever get back we are definitely hiring with auto oasis again!!

Well I had a good experience. The car was delivered to my hotel at exactly the requested time, the handover being friendly and helpful. The car was presented in a clean and tidy condition, with a full tank of fuel. My rental, a Citreon C1 1.2l, coped surprisingly well with La Palma's inclines and performed really well. I refilled the fuel tank to full at Shell Brena Alta before returning car to Auto Oasis, who refunded my 300 euro deposit. Would have no hesitation in recommending this company. Thank you Auto Oasis.

The bottom line is only 3 stars as an average for two very different experiences with Autos Oasis La Palma. Everything went perfectly with the first booking. The request was confirmed promptly. After I had filled out the email form for the drivers details, driving license, address, etc. in advance and sent it back, I received a friendly thank you as confirmation. As expected, handing over the keys and paying the deposit went smoothly the next day and everything was done within 10 minutes. We received the car we wanted, which was waiting for us in perfect condition. The return was also uncomplicated. Bottom line, a 5 star experience. So we were in good spirits when we made our second booking a few days later. This time, however, things didnt go as well as the first time. This time a different person was on site at the Princess Hotel. The handover formalities took over 40 minutes. Some of the information sent in advance by email was incorrectly entered into the rental agreement. On several occasions, queries had to be made to the head office about points that had already been clarified because the person processing the item was apparently not familiar with the process. This became clear again when she initially couldnt find the corresponding car key in her file. In the end we got a different vehicle than we had booked, which was significantly less powerful and the equipment did not correspond to the model we wanted. After asking the clerk, there was another lengthy telephone conversation with the head office. It then remained that the desired vehicle was not available. In the meantime, almost an hour had passed since the handover and we were in danger of missing the excursion we had booked for today. We therefore had to take the vehicle that was given to us because the lengthy procedure meant that it was no longer possible to exchange it for a different vehicle class. The vehicle was a complete disappointment. With the weak engine for a heavy vehicle, the steep stretches on the mountain were torture. The air conditioning was inadequate and the navigation system did not work reliably. Even though we only drove around 80km that day, we had to refuel 15 liters at the end. Either the consumption was absurdly high, or, more likely, we ended up paying more because the tank wasnt full when we left, as it was supposed to be. The bottom line is that this time the service was disappointing in almost every respect. No more than 1 star rating is appropriate for this experience. To be fair, 3 stars as average because everything went exemplary the first time.

Nachdem ich das E-Mail Formular fur die Angaben zum Fahrer, Fuhrerschein, Adresse, etc. vorab ausgefullt und zuruck gesendet hatte, kam ein freundlicher Dank als Bestatigung. Erwartungsgemass lief die Ubergabe des Schlussels und die Hinterlegung der Kaution am nachsten Tag reibungslos und alles war innerhalb von 10 Minuten erledigt. Wir haben das Wunschauto erhalten, das in einwandfreiem Zustand auf uns wartete. Auch die Ruckgabe verlief unkompliziert. Unterm Strich eine 5-Sterne Erfahrung. Daher waren wir guter Dinge bei der zweiten Buchung ein paar Tage spater. Diesmal lief es allerdings nicht so toll wie beim ersten Mal. Eine andere Person war diesmal vor Ort im Princess Hotel. Die Formalitaten bei der Ubergabe zogen sich uber 40 Minuten hin. Die vorab per E-Mail eingesandten Angaben waren teils fehlerhaft in den Mietvertrag eingetragen worden. Mehrfach waren fur bereits geklarte Punkte Ruckfragen in der Zentrale erforderlich, weil die Bearbeiterin scheinbar nicht mit dem Vorgang vertraut war. Dies wurde nochmals deutlich, als sie den zugehorigen Auto-Schlussel zunachst nicht in ihrer Kartei finden konnte. Am Ende bekamen wir ein anderes Fahrzeug als wir gebucht hatten, das deutlich schlechter motorisiert war und auch in der Ausstattung nicht dem Wunschmodell entsprach. Auf Nachfrage bei der Sachbearbeiterin folgte zunachst wieder ein langeres Telefonat mit der Zentrale. Es blieb dann dabei, dass das Wunschfahrzeug nicht verfugbar sei. Inzwischen war bereits fast 1 Stunde bei der Ubergabe vergangen und wir liefen Gefahr, den fur heute gebuchten Ausflug zu verpassen. Daher nahmen wir notgedrungen das ausgehandigte Fahrzeug, weil durch die langwierige Prozedur ein Umtausch in eine andere Fahrzeugklasse nicht mehr moglich war. Das Fahrzeug war eine einzige Enttauschung. Mit dem schwachen Motor fur ein schweres Fahrzeug waren die steilen Strecken am Berg eine Qualerei. Die Klimaanlage war unzureichend und das Navi funktionierte nicht zuverlassig. Obwohl wir nur ca. 80km an dem Tag gefahren sind, mussten am Ende 15 Liter nachgetankt werden. Entweder war der Verbrauch absurd hoch, oder was wahrscheinlicher ist, wir haben am Ende draufgezahlt, weil der Tank bei der Abfahrt nicht voll war, wie es eigentlich hiess. Unterm Strich diesmal ein in nahezu allen Punkten enttauschender Service. Fur diese Erfahrung ist nicht mehr als 1 Stern in der Bewertung angemessen. Um Fair zu bleiben, daher 3 Sterne als Durchschnitt, weil beim ersten Mal alles vorbildlich lief.

Hello. Our experience has been very good. It was the best price there was. They make a deposit of 400 when collecting the vehicle. They have already returned our money. I think it is the policy of some companies. Just in case, I recommend making a small video when picking up the vehicle because of the small bumps that cars usually have, and in the process they also see that it has been recorded. I am publishing this review three weeks after having been to La Palma due to lack of time. It is difficult to evaluate this company because you arrive at the airport and when you go to pick up the car you find a cake that you did not expect. I paid 110 for the rented car but when you pick up the car they give you, I think I remember, two options: The first you have to leave 400 in deposit and comprehensive insurance. The second is to pay additional insurance for the vehicle ( 40 and 100 deposit) and there is a third option which is to refuse to pay and stay stranded at the airport. The guy who serves well, but nervous when putting himself in the situation and trying to solve the problem (it is true that I was quite angry). In the end I agreed to pay the 40 and 100 more deposit apart from the 110 for the car rental itself, but I did it because apart from my wife we had two children, ages 3 and 8, and lets see what we would do in that situation. But I was not going to leave things like that and the next day I went to the Cancajos office and spoke directly with the owner/director/manager of the rent a car. We spent about 45 minutes talking. At first the talk was a little tense but then things began to soften and I can say that the conversation was, as far as possible, pleasant. That does not mean that I agreed with everything that was told to me, such as having to pay 40 for additional insurance; whats happening? Are the vehicles not already insured? Ahhhh yes but then they retain 400 per franchise. Company policy? Is it legal??? Dont know. But I have to admit that in a way there were things that, after an explanation, I understood. I want to emphasize, and so I made it known, that the link to read the true rental conditions in this company should be on the same website and with greater clarity and not in external links or what we usually call the small print that no one we read It is important to read the entire contract and conditions because the so-called small print hides details that at first glance we do not give importance to and that later seem misleading to the client. I must say that the treatment was correct and that the conversation we had was pleasant although there was tension given the circumstances. I left there calmer and although not convinced in some aspects, I understood perfectly what was explained to me. The money withheld from the 100 was returned to me the day after returning the car without any problem. I mention this because I have read negative reviews in that sense and for my part there is nothing bad to say. I guess if you do things right, everything is easier for everyone. Greetings.

La segunda es pagar un seguro adicional al vehiculo (40 y 100 de deposito) y hay una tercera opcion que es negarte a pagar y quedarte tiradisimo en el aeropuerto. El chico que atiende bien, pero nervioso al ponerse en situacion e intentar resolver el problema (es cierto que yo estaba bastante enfadado). Al final accedi a pagar los 40 y 100 mas de deposito aparte de los 110 del alquiler del coche propiamente dicho, pero lo hice porque aparte d mi mujer teniamos los dos ninos de 3 y 8 anos y a ver que haciamos en esa situacion. Pero yo no iba a dejar las cosas asi y al dia siguiente me presente en la oficina de los Cancajos y hable directamente con el dueno/director/gerente del rent a car. Estuvimos unos 45 minutos hblando. Al principio la charla fue algo tensa pero despues la cosa se fue suavizando y puedo decir que la conversacion fue, dentro de lo que cabe, agradable. Eso no quiere decir que yo estuviese dacuerdo con todo lo que se me dijo como lo de tener que pagar 40 por un seguro adicional; que pasa? los vehiculos no estan ya asegurados?? Ahhhh si pero entonces te retienen 400 por franquicia. Politica de empresa?? Es legal??? No lo se. Pero he de reconocer que en cierto modo hubo cosas que despues de una explicacion, entendi. Quiero recalcar y asi lo hice saber, que el link para leer las verdaderas condiciones de alquiler en esta empresa deberian estar en la misma pagina web y con una mayor claridad y no en links exteriores o lo que solemos llamar la letra pequena que nadie leemos. Es importante leer todo el contrato y condiciones pues la llamada letra pequena esconde detalles que a primera vista no le damos importancia y que despues nos parecen enganosos para el cliente. Debo decir que el trato fue correcto y que la conversacion que tuvimos fue agradable aunque habia tension dadas las circunstancias. Sali de alli mas tranquilo y aunque no convencido en algunos aspectos, comprendi perfectamente lo que se me explico. El dinero retenido de los 100 se me devolvio al dia siguiente de devolver el coche sin ningun problema. Lo comento porque he leido resenas negativas en ese sentido y por mi parte nada malo que decir. Supongo que si haces bien las cosas, todo es mas facil para tod@s. Saludos.

Very good landlord, rented a Kia Rio for 17 days for a nice price. When picking up the car at our hotel, a deposit of 100 euros must be paid in case the car key is lost. The deposit will be neatly returned to the account after handing in. The extra all-in insurance is recommended, because La Palma does not have the best roads everywhere with falling pieces of rock every now and then. Zeer goede verhuurder, 17 dagen een kia rio gehuurd voor een mooie prijs. Bij het ophalen van de auto bij ons hotel 100 euro borg voldaan ivm het eventueel kwijt raken van de autosleutel. De borg na het inleveren weer netjes terug ontvangen op de rekening. Aanrader is de extra all in verzekering, omdat la Palma niet overal de beste wegen heeft met vallende stukken rots zo af en toe .
