We had already paid for car insurance but the rental company didn't accept it and required us to pay again. Alternatively they demanded a deposit but only via a credit card not a debit card. The car is not available at the airport instead, they take you by bus to the branch.
Car had > 100km but we didn't have any problems. Garage is 10 minutes away from airport and they will pick you up with a bus. Deposit was released promptly
First off they are thieves. We booked through discover cars and paid half, upon arriving they told us that amount isn't valid and we would have to contact discover cars to get a refund. The lady was very rude and dismissive about it. It was obvious this issue happens often but they haven't done anything about it. After contacting discover cars they told us that the insurance we were charged by Orlando can be avoided if you have a credit card and can pay the deposit. This should be made clear by Orlando instead of having the hidden extra cost you are forced to pay on arrival if you don't have a credit card. Also the car we were given had something wrong with the engine which meant it didn't have enough power to get up steep hills. This is very unhelpful in a hilly place like gran Canaria. We got stuck down a hill in a small town for 45 minutes trying to get the car out. We thought we'd be stuck there. It was traumatizing.
Don't touch with company with a barge pole. They completely ripped us off - we booked through a 3rd party site - which guaranteed NO hidden fees, and gave us an amount to pay at the desk. But it was all lies. There were hidden fees and we were forced to pay alot more at the desk than we were expecting - like double!!! We will never use them again. Buyer beware
A robery with the hidden fees. It's written that rental above 3 days, the agency will charge you full tank and you have to return the car as empty as possible (which always is difficult), and the fee for a VW Golf is 85EUR when in any petrol station is half price in the canaries. Typical hidden fees that make the rental price a double. The collection office is outside at 15 min in a bus, problem to return the car if you have to fly earlier in the morning, you should pay another 15EUR if you leave the car at the airport. At the end of the day, any of the 5 available main rental car at the airport have better fees than Orlando and 10 times less hassles to pick up/ return the car. A robery that will definitely spoil your holidays.
Great service and organisation! Fast transfer from the airport to the car station. Quickly done all the contract papers. Kind and helpful personnel. The transfer after the return of the car back to the airport was also very quick. We got a new car in the top condition. Please be careful and read the conditions about payment, driver's age and caution before order! It was necessary to have a credit card. We met some young people there without a credit card, who wanted to get a car and they didn't read the conditions well... Next time on Gran Canaria we will choose Orlando again
We have rented twice with them and have had good service. Like any car rental service it is important that you examine the car carefully before driving it off the property.
I was a bit concerned after I read some of the reviews here as I have already had a car booked and paid for. From my personal experience, I found the whole process is actually not bad, quite pain less. I wasn't asked to buy additional insurance or hassled for anything. From walking in the shop and getting my key to the car, it's about 5 - 8 mins. Yes my car was an old car, loads of mileage on it, but it did its job, it got me from A to B without any problems at all. On returning my car, again it took like 5 mins, they didn't ever check if there was any damages on the car. Overall, I am quite happy with the service, you get what you pay for in the city centre. I was literally going to give them a 3.5 stars but there isn't an option. Hey, why not 4?! Well, it would have been nice to get a shiny brand new car
