Do not use this service. They are disgracefully dishonest and will keep a significant amount of your deposit without explanation. I queried why I 264.70 euros of my deposit had not been returned. See the response from the Gibraltar International Airport branch below. I challenged this, as the car was actually returned clean, and the 114.70 euro refund they claimed was pending was a lie. After 2 weeks there is still no sign of it. Their response to my email was just a copy and paste of the very same initial response. Goldcar clearly have a habit of keeping a significant percentage of the customer deposit without explanation. Let alone any evidence of any damages. They then appear to save routine responses that they send to anyone that challenges this. They may look cheaper than other services. But they will not return all of your deposit and will end up costing you more. See their dishonest email response to me below. "Good morning, The issue regarding the damage to the vehicle has been resolved; it was marked and then corrected. There is a pending refund of 114.70 euros. The other 150 euros have been billed by our outsourced cleaning service, who charged us for "severe special cleaning," as per the contract terms. In any case, I see that you have opened an incident with Customer Service, who will address any claims you deem appropriate. Thank you very much."
I guess "you get" (or not) what you pay for .. Regarding the extreme weather conditions at the time in the region (Civil Protection Alert) our arrival was delayed, however, I've already paid full price for a week and did online check-in including delivering required digitalised documents. All done !! Possibility of collecting the car later other than I stated previously was rejected !! I got refunded with !! EUR50 fine !! It's not as about the amount, as it's about the principle and right customer service within reasons. Very unreasonable approach to customer, really disappointing experience !! There is many other and better options around .. Avoid !! Cheaper is not always economical !
Goldcar we're great, fast, speedy service 3rd in line at the office, but didn't wait that long to get served and on our way... The staff were friendly and the customer service was brilliant.... I would recommend these guys and I'll be using them again on future trips.....
WON'T GET YOUR DEPOSIT RETURNED - Held money on deposit (1300) despite me having returned the car. They admitted it is not disputed but won't return the deposit. The English T&C (which they appended to the booking) does not have the provision that says they can hold your deposit. Tried to point me to the Spanish T&C. Amounts to fraud. Been over 20 days now and still no sign of it being returned.
I had to wait over an hour to collect the car on Saturday 28th September. The office is well located but too small and quite crowded. Their two staff members came across as blunt and angry at everyone and they didn't seem to enjoy their job. There was no car available from the group I had booked, even though my reservation had been confirmed a week earlier. Thankfully, they provided me with a larger car for no extra cost. The only advantage was that Goldcar was considerably cheaper than other car rental companies.
Helpful staff and easy pickup. Reliable and clean vehicle. Returning was trouble free and again helpful staff. Thank you I will use this company again and highly recommend them.
Patricia was super helpful both at the pick up and when I forgot something in the car after leaving. The car was new, clean and lovely to drive. Petrol was refunded promptly. On the pricey side but it was worth it as I had peace of mind with the insurance and enjoyed getting around. Thanks goldcar, will definitely use again.
This is the first time I have used gold car La Linea Spain. I was completely satisfied with the level of customer service I received both on arrival to pick up my vehicle and on retiring it. I paid a fuel deposit which was returned within 2 days of my hire ending. I will use this company again in the future and would recommend to other people.
