We're just back from our trip to Alicante. My partner booked our car through this company and after reading the reviews I was very skeptical. However the whole process was very easy and we had a great experience! When you arrive at Alicante Airport, you need to go to departures (upstairs) rather than arrivals and wait outside the Starbucks to be picked up. The car we rented was a Seat Ibiza and was EUR274 for 9 days and we only had to pay a EUR100 security deposit. When we returned the car, we were advised our security deposit will be returned within 5 working days. We would definitely recommend and will be using this company again for our next trip.
Don't use them! They ruined our holiday. When my partner hired a car from them, they took his money but didn't provide a car. When we got to the airport there was nobody waiting for us, and they were not contactable. We have tried ringing them several times, but we only got an answer phone message. We unfortunately have not been able to recover the money. I also find it suspicious that all of the favourable reviews were written in Spanish some time ago (most of them 2 years ago). All the negative reviews are quite recent, by English, German, Spanish or French people. We are very dissatisfied!
Arranged a hire a car for a week. We were meant to be picked up at the airport. They didn't show. We called consistently over an hour with no one answering the phone. Had to hire from a different service. They are un-cooperative about giving a refund, so we have to reclaim the money they took from us through the bank.
Writing on behalf of a friend. The booking process was straightforward but getting picked up was a struggle! The car they provided was much older and higher mileage than expected. It wasn't very clean inside and out. Not like other rental places at Alicante Airport. Never to be used again!
DONT TRUST THIS COMPANY. THEY LEFT ME STRANDED AT THE AIRPORT AND THEN WOULDN'T REFUND MY PAYMENT: I received confirmation of my booking but no further information, e.g. where to meet them at the airport. I received no phone call, email, text or any other communication from GP rentacar when I arrived at Alicante. My flight was on time but when I called GP rentacar, no one picked up, I just got a recorded message. I spent an hour making calls to them (14 in all) and left voice messages on 3 occasions. I also approached every driver in the pick-up zone to see if they were from GP rent a car. Eventually I had to give up and hire another car from another provider and at such short notice the cost was 370.18 euros, more than double the amount of my original car hire booking. This wiped out my holiday spending money, and my holiday was completely ruined. I emailed GP rentacar the next day but got no reply. I then called them several times the following day but got the recorded message again. As there were an inconsistent number of dialling tone beeps on calls before the recorded message started, I suspected that my calls were being purposely rejected so I called from a different number on a borrowed phone and someone picked up straight away. GP rentacar denied receiving any calls from me and refused to refund my payment. They did admit to receiving my email but were casual about the fact that they hadn't replied. They were also evasive when I challenged the fact that I had received no communications from them and that they had made no effort to provide the service I paid for. Next I emailed them a screen shot of the 14 outgoing calls on my phone log but got no reply to that. Now I am trying to get the money back through my bank.
In October we rented a car for a week from GP rent a car. We are not happy about this. After arriving at the airport we called GP rent a car. In the beginning they did not recognize our reservation. After 25 minutes we were picked up. After arrival at GP rent a car (behind the rubbish dump) there was a different car waiting for us than the one we had reserved. The same category, so that's fine, we thought. But the car was rattling on all sides and had already driven many kilometers (much damage all around). The wheel did not steer smoothly, a strip of the side window was broken so we could no longer hear each other when we drive a little faster and a light was constantly on indicating that something was wrong with the tires. On day 3 we asked if we could change the car. This was possible... but only on day 4. Unfortunately we were no longer in the neighborhood, so we decided to go further with this car. Luckily we survived the roadtrip without any car trouble. When we returned the car, they did not recognize their own rental car and asked if we had made a reservation.... Finally, we also had to wait a long time (a month) for the deposit to be repaid. I sent them 2 emails, but received no response.
When ordering the car, no mention was made of the advance payment, which must be returned within 10d after the car is returned. Already the third week as a non-refundable and already tired of correspondence with them.
Very good, honest and fast service. No fuss or hidden costs. Very helpful staff members.
