SMILE rent-a-car in L'Albir

If I could give less stars I would. We paid online for a weeks rental, they gave a price and a higher price if we wanted to pay fully comprehensive, which we did. We arrived in the designated car park in Albir to collect the car. The man who met us got us to sign the contract, then said we had to pay a PS500 deposit. We asked why and he said it was in case of any damage under the car and for the windows. We had paid fully comp for this. He phoned the owner, who was very off-hand and rude, saying we had spoiled his day! What about our holiday! We refused to pay the extra and left. He has finally refunded the money we paid online but has kept 50EUR back because we didn't accept the car, you dont get people to sign a contract and then change the ball game. On the bank statement it says we made this payment to Europarking Alicante??? My husband has cancer and this week in the sun was to make him feel better he wasnt feeling well after this. Avoid Smile rent a car, this was a very unhappy experience. We went to Centauro Benidorm after, its on a good number 10 bus route. We got a car straight away in minutes, fully comp no deposit required, so go to them. What we have said is totally true, there is a similar review on here from another woman, when we paid it said deposit nil, which was right as we paid fully comp. Explain then as we paid fully comp what this deposit was for. You said it was for the underneath of the car, how could we check it was ok underneath? I worked in an Insurance company in Spain and fully comp covers everything. We did not say we had no money on the card. If so how did we hire a car straight after with no problem? Everything we said was true, I dont give bad reviews unless they are deserved.

Top huurbedrijf. Augustus/september 2023 Ford Ka gehuurd. Voordeel is geen lange rijen bij een verhuurbalie, maar of de auto wordt naar het vliegveld gebracht of je wordt opgepikt door een shuttlebus. Volgende keer voor mij weer met Smile-Rent-A-Car

The only thing I can say about this rental company is AVOID! The car I got was a circa 20 year old disgusting, falling apart, broken lights, paint coming off, scratched everywhere, gear box difficult smelly broken Citroen C3 with a horrible sticky steering wheel!! It's not cheap they also take large deposit for something that it's not even worth it!! I can't believe the car like that can be rented out to people legally. I was actually scared on the motorway. Never again.... The only positive was the lovely guy who met me with the keys.
