Although the car was new, tidy, and clean, and the staff at the counter were extremely friendly, we were deceived. The deposit of EUR200 was never refunded despite numerous emails sent to their customer service. Avoid this company at all costs!
My deposit will not increase in two months. I wrote letters - no chance. Maybe here can help me here? UPD: Problem has solved. Actually the mistake was mine. I figured it out. Customer support helped me. Sorry. I changed my rating. Thank you.
I thought I paid extra to have a new Ford Puma to hire instead I got given an old ford ecosport that had done 29k km. The car was in very poor / damaged condition. When I drove away it and it only had 3 quarter of a tank of fuel (should have been full). I was expected to make sure it was full when i returned it. The car had a really bad rattle in the back door! the rattle was so irritating that i dreaded driving it every time we went out!
Firstly, do not believe the price at booking there are so many add ons when you collect the vehicle, we had to add on insurance and an additional driver (due to the bank card we originally booked on belonging to my wife) which shows as a cost on the invoice as EUR312.90... however, we now have 2 amounts still pending on our account one for PS207.85 and one for PS184.19, this doesn't make any sense and the lady at the counter couldn't explain it either Secondly, we were asked to sign the vehicle agreement in the airport, this agreement stated the vehicle had a full tank of petrol, however, when we had eventually made it over to the car park where the vehicle was parked we noticed the tank was just below half full! Meaning we have to put in PS40 more fuel than we used or risk being fined, the car was also filthy inside.
Charged hundreds of pounds after drop off for pre-existing damage to the car, double charged for rental fees, hidden admin costs. Hands down the worst car rental experience I've ever had.
Be aware of an issue when returning vehicle. When I returned my car I fully filled it with petrol, the petrol gauge didn't show fully full (9/10ths full). The return agent said there was a problem with the model of car I had (Citroen c3) when they were new and only done around 2k. My car was new and had done 2.5k. The petrol gauge showed not full. Despite him telling me the problem, he was adamant they would charge me for refuelling. He asked for my receipt for petrol, I didn't have it as I paid cash. He said I had to,provide it as per terms and conditions (who reads these! Lol). If it's that important tell me when I rentbthebcarvrather than focusing on the insurance you may buy! Anyway, a receipt would not prove a full fill anyway! It would show I had filled the car which was also demonstrable by the gauge anyway (it was showing 9/10th full). Luckily his manager walked past so I got her involved and she accepted my argument (probably also checked my account and saw I'd rented Avis cars for the last 20 years twice a year from the same location without any issues). Very poor customer service on a return with a known issue which my car had. There should have been a better way of handling this situation initially!
An awful experience with completely unprofessional, rude, unsympathetic people working behind the counter. They double charged me for the car and failed to call me on holiday or answer my calls to return this money. When I returned the car back after the holiday I confronted useless assistant and simply said to me their manager was too busy to call me. I'd encourage everyone to avoid using avis all costs. I am still waiting for my money back and an apology. To top it off I was also given a much smaller car than expected and was charged for petrol despite topping up the tank at the end. Also yet to be refunded.
We rented a white FIAT 500 from Budget for our holiday in Ibiza. The car had a manual transmission, was very clean, no scratches and with very few kilometres. We enjoyed the car very much for the days we used it. The lady who rented us the car was very kind, spoke perfect English and informed us that she would hold the 300 euro from my credit card as a deposit and that it would be returned within a week, which was returned on time. The guarantee of 300 euros was a standard amount, regardless of whether you choose full insurance or not. Car delivery from a building opposite the airport terminal. We picked up with full tank and delivered with full tank as well.
