Took us more time to get the car than the flight itself. It took about 1h. Long and slow queue due to understaffing and very slow/distracted service. I suggest you to rent with other companies if you can
I rented a car in Horta airport in Faial on Aug 1st and returned it on Aug 4th. The car rental employee told me she would have checked the car later and contacted me in case of issues. 10 days later I still see the 1200 euro deposit blocked on my credit card and received no final invoice as normally other car rentals do. I also wrote by email and tried to call by phone the agency and no one answered yet..
Great service. Quick check-in. Car in perfect status, new, and well equipped. Also the checkout was quick and without issues.
Decent car. Awful customer service. I have been to the Azores with my family for about 2 weeks. We visited 3 islands and we always used ILHA VERTE for our rentals. The cars were OK and in good conditions (with the exception of a Gen1 Renault CAPTUR with 100000km and more lights than a Xmas tree that we got in Terceira). I want to comment on the poor customer service provided by this company: on our departure from Faial, we left our own child booster in the car. When we realized, we were on the plane to Terceira. Once in Terceira, I asked the lady from ILHA VERTE to have the booster seat sent over so that we could collect it over the next few days. She got in touch with FAIAL and she said the child seat would have been there on our departure. She also shared a phone number/Whatsapp contract for the FAIAL office. Finally... she rented an extra child seat for our new rental. When we left FAIAL clearly the seat had not arrived. Calling the FAIAL office, they told me they would ship the seat to our hotel in Lisbon and asked my to have the details. I provided them with addresses etc over Whatsapp and emails, which I did. Clearly, nothing has arrived in Lisbon. Whenever I called they told me not to worry, but they NEVER OPENED my messages. And they nevere replied to my messages. Long story short: they lied all the time. TRY TO AVOID THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR RENTALS.
"Hello everyone, unfortunately, I had a very bad experience with ILHA VERDE - Rent a Car. They tried to accuse me of damages upon return that were already present on the vehicle when I rented it. The vehicle already had nearly 50,000 km on it. Those damages were definitely not caused by me. Such methods! It's a shame, they really ruined my day and vacation. I will definitely stay away from ILHA VERDE - Rent a Car in the future."
Unfriendly experience. Repair light was on non-stop, but you can still rent it out apparently. Had to pay extra to pick it up at the harbour. Fine for me, but the tank was not full anymore (although they said it was), but we have to bring it back full, bit weird. When we asked about the repair light and the gastank, the lady behind the counter laughed and looked at us like we are idiots. At the other 2 islands we had great experiences.
Worst rental car ever. I got a more than five years old Nissan Micra with over 70000 km on the clock and more scratches and dents than paint on it. No antenna (so no radio), smelly, with a worn out, backbreaking drivers seat. At least it was reliable. Service at the airport was fast and good. However they wanted to charge me an additional day at 60 Euro because I arrived five minutes earlier than originally planned (but I could talk them out of it).
Although worried by some negative reviews on beforehand, I can only report a simply positive car rental experience. Friendly personnel at the airport desk, no unexpected terms and conditions, no attempts to convince me of additional services/insurances, and most importantly: a car in good condition (disregarding small surficial damages that were registered on the rental form). I have rented the car from Ilha Verde in May 2022, with extended insurance via EasyTerra.
