Terrible. Booked a car on a Saturday and we got the run around from the people at car sales saying that they were open. Meanwhile the gate was closed. Turns out they are not open on Saturdays! Got a car at Avis across the street. Suggest you not go with Herz. Don't come here.

Don't choose the manager's special. For us it turned out to be a truck. It rains so constantly that it would have soaked our luggage. Our only option was to pay more than double for a different vehicle. At least the employee Kayla was very nice. She let us rent a brand new vehicle that's never been rented before. She even offered us a ride back to the airport when we returned it.

It's kind of far from everything but the airport, but there's a Hertz in the airport. I couldn't get my rental because my card issues, but I hope to get one as soon as I can. I hope they help me. They have good customer service and the agents are helpful.

I am dissatisfied with the service received at the Hertz Car Rental located at 452 Kalewa Street, Honolulu, HI 96819. The employees exhibited low morale and a reluctance to address issues proactively. I encountered a serious problem with a Tesla rental where the rear tires repeatedly lost air. Despite reporting this, the staff failed to take action, compromising safety and service reliability. During the Easter weekend, the situation worsened. I sought assistance for the tire issue but found the Hertz office closed and received no support from adjacent departments. Roadside assistance directed me to a vendor who was unable to service the electric vehicle tires due to their imminent closing time and policy restrictions. This not only impeded my ability to drive safely but also affected my ability to meet my trip minimums. The lack of effective communication was highlighted by contradictory information provided by different employees regarding the payment for the tire repair. This led to confusion about whether I would be reimbursed after paying out-of-pocket, as suggested by one employee, while another denied the possibility of a refund. It was only after persistence and further research that I found a Firestone location willing to repair the tire, yet I encountered issues with the voucher system, causing additional delays and uncertainty about reimbursement. The entire ordeal demonstrated a clear lack of coordination and commitment to customer service at this Hertz location. Ensuring vehicle safety is a basic requirement that was not met, and the overall handling of the situation was unsatisfactory. For these reasons, I would hesitate to recommend Hertz to friends or colleagues, particularly the Honolulu branch, until there is evident improvement in service quality and communication.

The shuttle from the airport was quick and easy for me. When they drop you off, you need to go up stairs there was two sets of elevators, and everyone went to the same one. I was able to get on the other one, but no one noticed, and they all waited and like they had no clue about the escalator either. I don't drive Nissan usually. The Rouge was good, but I had to look up how to put it in reverse. I was able to laugh at myself. Good times......

We booked through Expedia. Our pick up time was scheduled 4:15. Our plane landed a little late so we were 10 minutes late to pick up the car. They had already given the car that we paid for away. They gave us another car with a bad tire. We had been traveling for 15 hours, we were tired, we had plans the next day. I just figured, I d put air into it and it d be fine. It was not. I couldn t move my plans around because we had already spent so much money. When I finally had the time we could spend to tell them about the flat tire, they made me pay for it. Unacceptable. Spent a day of my vacation that I worked hard to earn fixing this mess. Do not rent from this company.

I had a negative customer service experience here. I was renting a vehicle to Uber with. If you are new to Uber and didn t want to drive your personal car and was thinking about renting one, just know that the cars they will rent you are not your typical rental vehicles. They are the ones that they no longer rent out as part of their regular rental fleet, these are the vehicles with high mileage, got stains all over, makes strange sounds while driving etc. If you don t have a car and this is the only way you can do Uber well okay as a last resort I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. I would not recommend to others.

I rented cars from this Hertz location for about 2 months and had a fantastic experience!! Everyone was kind, but Nani was above and beyond helpful. Any time I had an issue Nani made the process to fix it quick and easy. Highly recommend renting from this location!!

SCAM!!! They will try and charge you after your rental is complete. I was told I was gonna get emailed a receipt and I never did. So I followed up and they said they didnt have access to it, so then I went on the website and found it and realized they charged me a $200 cleaning fee. I had to go out of my way to find this info. They completely lied and said the car was trashed (it was not). They said they would send pictures of the trashed car and who would ve thought that I also never received these pictures. They said they needed to vacuum the sand from the carpets which is why I was charged 200. Basically they don t clean their cars unless they have to and when they do they will charge the customer for the tiniest of thing. Kesha is the manager here and she is a clown. I got out of paying this but some might not be as lucky so WATCH OUT!

No shuttle to and from airport. You will need to get a Lyft or Uber. Staff spent 30+ minutes to get to us for check in (began an interview when we arrived), clerk was very short with us and fake with us. Informed us that they would not accept our insurance we purchased from Expedia online. We also informed her that we had AAA insurance for rentals. She avoided the question as to if they would accept AAA and continued to try to sell us their own insurance. Took 20 minutes to get to us when we returned the car. Understaffed unfortunately. Car we received and rented was in great condition and worked well for what we used it for. Check oil light was on when we received it. Car (GMC Acadia) had 5k miles on it.

This place is terrible. Priceline and Expedia allow you to book a car for times they are closed so look carefully. We booked a car for noon on a Saturday, which is when they close for the day. We got there just before noon and the workers had already closed the gate and walked past us saying they were closed and refused to help. Also this place has no shuttle and is a 1.5 mi walk from the airport. Definitely do not rent from this place.

This place is a straight up scam. No airport shuttle. Limited hours. Im guessing 99% of people who rent from this location made a mistake and thought they were renting from the airport. Had to pay for cab to go 1.5 miles to and from. Also, Hertz charges $14/day for an extra driver.

Can t start the car and Hertz has the most horrible nerve wracking music! Are they trying to get rid of customers? It has been over two hours. Initially, it took longer because they had given me someone else s paperwork. The local Kalawe Street Hertz just sends all their calls to some central place. SCAM!!!!!! I rented a Tesla from this location and the first one they gave me when I got in had low tire pressure in one of the tires. It was the first thing I noticed in the days. I went inside and let them now and they checked it out and exchanged it for a different one. Minus the fact that the employee didn t notice the big low tire pressure light everything was fine up to this point. The car was clean and that was fine. Upon return the employee went out to check out the vehicle and make sure it was returned to their expectations. After about 5 minutes the employee came in and said everything looked good and handed me my final receipt for the agreed upon amount. 2 hours later I get a call from the manager Kesha saying charging parts are missing from the vehicle. I said that impossible I used only the adapter and unplugged it just before returning the vehicle and put it back in the trunk. She told me I was wrong and if I don t return the parts I would be charged $350. I said what use do I have for used charging parts for Tesla when my normal vehicle is gas powered. I told her if the parts are missing then someone there must have removed them because her employee went out and checked the vehicle when I returned it and said everything was good. She laughed at me and told me I was wrong. It went back and forth a couple more times with me telling her the parts were there when I returned it and her laughing and me and telling me I m wrong. She then put me on hold and after several minutes I hung up. They then sent me a new receipt for an additional $275 for missing parts. After they couldn t charge that amount to my card because I put my rental on a lower limit card they ended up charging $75. They most likely went with this amount because this is all my card would allow them to charge. DO NOT RENT from this location. I suggest Enterprise and will go with them from now on.
