Cheap Rent A Car in Honolulu

2nd year in row Richard has been able to get us out of trouble when needing a car. Last year refused car from larger renter because of no International licence although having booked 6 mths ahead which was garbage ( they ran out of cars ) This year they ran out of cars again and even if they had the cars the waiting time was going to be 4 to 5 hours although I had a confirmed pick up time of 10.00 am. Richard was wonderful both times, not the most modern cars but just what you need when on Holiday. Never again with the big companies Go to Richard for great service, convenience, and price. Don't try and rent in central Waikiki !!

Similar to other reviews on this establishment, the owner was dishonest (or forgot) about the level of gas the vehicle had when it was given to us. He specifically told us it had "a little less than half a tank" (I believe due to the prior renters). I returned it with just below a half a tank and the owner proceeded to argue with me. I agreed to the ten dollar fee even though I knew it was in fact given to us with a little less than a half a tank. I walked away and was taking to my friend about this and then the owner came back out to argue with me further. Very awkward.

$47 a day and 5 days rented for the Green Kia Soul! Very clean inside. Great customer service! Car was great! Great A/C. Great car for parking in small stalls. Very fast and easy car. Best affordable cars! I recommend for locals Kamaaina especially from interislands, hospital visits, military moving, traveling nurses. Only credit cards accepted. No debit cards. Must fill up car full gas tank when returning.

Unfortunately, I will not be returning! This is my first bad review. The owner had average customer service upon my arrival which is fine, my problem is when I was about to drive off w/ the car, I felt it shaking and rattling. I brought this to his attention and brushed me off and said "it's because it's a 4 cylinder" I should've of been more stern and requested a different car - that's on me. The whole ride the car never stopped shaking and made my kids nauseous on the ride. Furthermore, within 15 minutes of driving I realized the gas was approximately 85% full and called the owner and asked him what he had documented before leaving, he said it was completely full, I mentioned otherwise and I was instructed to take a picture so I could show it to him when I returned the car. The day I returned the car he was not even present. His associate received the car and he put the owner on the phone and started to yell at me like a mad man stating it was not true that a couple bars were missing. Although, I still returned it w/ a full tank he was hostile about the situation. I received the car w/ 67,880 miles. As you can see I took the picture w/ 67,888 miles, no way did I consume 2 bars with 8 miles. The prices are reasonable but not worth the unsafely of the cars and rudeness. Pay a bit more else were and get a safer car and better customer service.

We come to Oahu two or three times a year and for the past 12 years we have rented from here. What a gem, far better rates than his competitors, and though you won't get a brand new vehicle, you do get one that is completely exceptable. Owner is great and has always accommodated our needs. Would give 10 stars if I could!

We ordered for two days, but then changed our mind and decided to extend it for two more days. I called and asked to renew, the manager said no problem, you do not need to go to the office to make an additional payment, you can pay when you return the car. It is very convenient and time-saving. Richard (manager) is a very friendly and sociable person, thank you very much for his service. I recommend this company to everyone !! Fast, convenient !!! And compared to other companies, the price is very attractive. Before that, I contacted the Dollar company: I did not like it. The staff was rude, they demanded a deposit from me, although when ordering, there was no information about the deposit. They demanded that I buy exactly their insurance, while I had already bought insurance on Expedia and plus I have my own insurance with full coverage. But they didn't care. Plus the car was not the one we wanted to rent. In the end, I had to refuse. Thank you very much for the cool Chip Rent A Car service. You are best!!!

These guys were awesome! We booked our car about 2 months in advance because we knew how crazy car rentals have gotten since Covid. They were efficient on the phone and every time we had questions we could call in and get quick answers. Our flight got changed a few times over the last couple months but they were very understanding and when I called a day before to tell them we would be coming a little earlier than we had said they were totally fine with it. When we picked up the car they were very fast and gave us a nice spacious Hyundai as an economy car. Very great service!
