I've rented from this company for the first time when visiting St. Lucia. I had reserved a little Jimny 4wd vehicle months in advance, but what was provided was a small SUV. I was very disappointed with the vehicle and end up not driving it except to town to do a little shopping. Completely ruin our trip as we had planned to drive around the island. I asked and requested a little Jimmy since I was staying at the north end of the island and wanted to drive on the mountain roads and be able to see the country. Seems wrong when I did my part correctly and booked early, but the company did not deliver on my request after emailing them several times in advance. Renting and returning the vehicle was smooth however not having the correct vehicle I reserved will probably prevent me from using this company again in the future.
Excellent service, rented a toyota rush from them, small engineed SUV but enough power to get around the hills in Saint Lucia, we had the car for two days, but extended by one day via email. Great experience in general, with payment, free drop off to our hotel in Marigot Bay and collection. Nice people, great communication whether by email or WhatsApp or in person at the drop off. Collection was super easy also they instructed us to leave the keys with reception. All in all a 10/10 experience!! Best thing we did with our stay was renting a car and seeing the Island in our own time! Only words of warning, roads are pretty bumpy, and bring cash for petrol just in case the card machine is out of order!!
Car rental for 8 days, first of all the SUV was rated for 7 people and 3 bags, no way. We were 4 with 4 bags and was perfect. Car was delivered in good shape and any scratches and dents were noted, I advise that all renters take your own pictures and videos. Our deposit was refunded in 5 days. What should be noted to the car company that when receiving a report of rental return NOT to put the words FAIL of interior or exterior cleanliness of the car as this is noted when car is delivered that you are not responsible for this. I recommend to take full insurance as ST Lucia drivers are a little crazy. Treat the car as your own and you should be fine. Also noted that the car was delivered to our Villa on time which was a bonus. I would recommend this company.
I'm changing my review of Drive-A-Matic to reflect the communications and resolve that I had with them after I rented a vehicle from them. I had a dispute due to not completely receiving my deposit back as they said I caused some damage to the underside of the front bumper. After presenting my evidence that it was inconclusive that I caused that, management agreed to return the balance of my deposit. Based on what transpired, I'm sure we both will do better observations with pictures/video to ensure that on return, there is no question if there was damage during our rental period. Other than this, the rental pickup was probably the easiest I have had with no upsell like I usually get both in the states and outside. The rental reserve price was the price I paid and nothing more. I will certainly consider using this company again when I return in the future.
I recommend it to anyone who is ready to LOSE their MONEY. I rented a car for 2 days, returned it in perfect condition. They work quickly, after 1 day they returned 1 dollar from my deposit! When I asked - where is the rest, they also quickly answered - wait, the rest of the amount will come within 3-4 banking days. After 2 weeks, without receiving the money, I wrote to them again. And this time they worked quickly, answering that the problem is in the bank. Wait! Another 3 weeks and the same thing again. It's been 5 weeks already. I still haven't received anything. I've already started to forget the deposit amount and the date when the deposit was supposed to be returned :) . I highly recommend this rental company if you are ready to pay the price and "make a charitable contribution" in the amount of the deposit. I have experience renting cars in more than 30 countries, but this is the first time I have such a NEGATIVE "luxury" service. Mr. Steins P.S. To be fair, I must add to my review - 3 hours after posting my review of this company's work, I received my deposit back. However, the fact remains that this happened after 30 (!) banking days and multiple correspondence with the company.
We returned our car today after an 8 day rental. The final inspection report said: Interior: fail, Exterior:fail. We left nothing in the car and the only dirt might have been only on the floor mats. Isn't that what floor mats are for? The exterior was dirty because on the way to the airport we drove through road construction sites in the rain. Are we expected to have the car detailed right outside this facility so we can return it cleaner than it was when we picked it up? The car wasn't pristine when we picked it up, it even had zip ties holding parts together, which some of the zip ties broke while we were driving it for the 8 days. We did return the car with some scratches on the rear bumper, but that is a different issue than failing a clean inspection. This car had so many scratches and dents on it already when we picked it up, as can be seen from the exactly 52 photos indicating previous damage that they email to you after pickup. Do they make their money by charging customers for repairs that they never have done? Stick to the major brand rental companies and avoid this one. Tom P
Excellent! We booked for a few days only 2 hours before start time. They contacted us promptly. They brought the car to our guest house which we considered very convenient. Thank you for the service. We can definitely recommend Drive-a-Matic.
I rented a car for a day and these folks were excellent. I booked directly online and there was great communication - a representative delivered the car to my hotel (which was in the north of the island) and I just left it in the carpark when I was done. Seamless process and reasonable price, a great way to see the island and a great business to deal with!
