The location is further away, but we got very clear instructions how to find the transfer pick-up, it all went very smooth and quick. Stefanie at the counter was super friendly, really helpful, and we got a brand new car, as usual no hidden costs with Sixt and all very transparent. Overall great experience!
They are no longer in the airport, and no signs in arrivals to let travellers know. Bus is every 30 mins or so to where the cars are. Took 1.5 hours to get our car once getting out of departures at tenerife south. Save yourself some time and book with hertz, topcar or others who are still in the airport.
Polite staff and very good prices! I booked online, went for the additional insurance where you don't have to worry about scratches etc and had a piece of mind with only double the price. The car we had was brand new and the process to get it was super easy but quite slow. They did try to convince us to upgrade but were not too pushy! On return they inspected the car and we left the key with the lady who confirmed that my deposit will be returned. All (collection & return) confirmed via email and regular updates / reminders were sent through both text and emal. Thank you!
I had a very good experience after meeting a very unfriendly employee at the Europcar stand. At Sixt I quickly got a car and even an upgrade because of my birthday! Great service, great employee. Also the return was easy an digital, how it should be.
Overall a good experience with SIXT. As many other reviews suggest, they were very pushy upon collection to upgrade to premium cars and services, especially the add-on insurances that reduce the excess (hence my 4/5 star rating). We booked online originally with the most basic insurance level, which we thought was a total of 1200EUR excess payable for any damages. On collection they told us that it was actually 1200EUR PER INCIDENT - so if you damaged the front bumper and also the rear bumper, you'd be liable for up to 1200EUR for each damage (total of 2400EUR) - not sure if this is correct, or just a sales tactic to get you to upgrade. So they tried to push us to what they call the 'Standard' cover which reduced all excess to 0EUR but this pushed the total price of the rental instantly from 110EUR to around 700EUR! They obviously make their money from selling the extra insurances. We asked them to revert it to what was originally booked, which they did straight away, but were quite pushy about the upgrade. Don't give in!! Other than that...we drove the hire car super carefully and looked after it. No issues with the car at all. Drop-off was quite easy too. They looked around the car whilst we waited and all was well. The collection and return process was quite easy and staff there were great...it's just the initial desk/reception staff that are pushy with the up-sales, but all very pleasant people. Tips... 1. My biggest tip would be to take out 'Excess Insurance' (google search for 'car hire excess insurance') before your trip, which costs around PS20 per trip and they'll cover any excesses that may become due if the hire company want to be difficult. 2. Take a shed load of photos of the car, especially bumpers and the interior, on both collection and drop-off so that you have your own proof of the condition before and after you have it. Remember to photograph the dash with mileage too. 3. They offered for 65EUR, for them to fill with fuel, so you return the car empty (or anywhere in-between). Otherwise you have to return the car with a FULL tank of fuel. We took this out, as we figured it would cost about this for a full tank of fuel anyway, and meant we didn't have to find a petrol station on route to returning. A full tank pretty much lasted us a week of exploring, so this was a reasonable cost. Added bonus of SIXT, you DO NOT need a credit card for hires, they accept debit cards. Most overseas hire companies stipulate that you can only use credit cards. Regardless of the up-sales tactics, we would still use SIXT again and would recommend. I'm sure most hire companies are the same!
I booked a Peugeot 308 but during check-in at the Airport Sixt kiosk was available only Audi A1 (no problem at all:). The car was absolutely clean and washed :) Service at the airport was fast. The return of the car was very good signaged and incredibly fast :D nothing just park a car (I was little bit surprised, but ok:) nobody checked the car. I would be a little bit more calm when somebody takes the car personally and check it with me. I was expected that, because till that moment I used to rent just motorcycles, and the owner checked the motorbike everytime in returning moment. Generally - I am more than satisfied with service of Sixt company :) Thank youuuuu.
This was my best rental experience in a long time. Full mobile check in with car select. Contract agreement completed digitally- only had to speak to agent to pick up keys. Stress free process with vehicle as expected and easy drop off.
Overall a great experience renting a car here. We had issues with another car rental place at Tenerife South airport and so we went over to the Sixt counter where Daniel helped get us a car for the week last minute. He explained the insurance and all charges plainly and clearly and made the experience very simple. When we were handed the keys they even gave us a complimentary umbrella for shade from the sun! Dropping off the car was a breeze as well, manager Sara was great. Would highly recommend this car rental place.
