Extremely affordable and well placed hotel, nothing fancy but you know that when you book it you aren't getting a fancy establishment. However, our experience was very bumpy here. Our heater didn't work on a cold day, not a big deal and we were quickly given a new room. The next day after adventuring in the area we came back to our room to find we were locked out. The office was dark even though it was 6pm so we tried calling the main number and no one answered. We then found a sticky note with a number on the office door and an employee drove to the hotel to fix our keys. Just a bit silly.
We stayed in a deluxe king room. Pros: Largest budget hotel room I've seen ever. Plenty of room for gear if you don't want to leave it in your vehicle or for a pack and play for a kiddo. The room was very clean. Hot water in the shower with good water pressure. The bed reasonably comfortable, but very lightweight linens. Front desk clerk friendly, and check in was quick and easy. I felt very safe here and the location perfect for easy access to all the area activity. Cons: The bed was reasonable, but definitely worn. Large hump in the middle, but it didn't really bother us. The biggest problem for us is that the walls are paper thin. We could hear every time our neighbor turned over in bed, walked to the bathroom, or talked on the phone, and we got to listen to their TV all night. We didn't complain bc the volume levels were not excessive...it's just the way the building is constructed. Also our room was right by the stairs so we heard everyone tromping up and down the stairs. Just something to keep in mind when weighing out the balance of budget vs comfort.
I loved this little hotel! It was the least expensive in the area but was still a great stay. All the employees were super friendly, nice and helpful. The location is great, close to town and right on the river with a little seating area. My only issue was the outlets were a little loose making it difficult to plug anything in and there weren't any USB outlets. But that wasn't a huge deal and I could still plug things in. I would definitely stay here again!
I selected The Junction on price. For my weekend it was the cheapest, right around $100/night. It's not a bad hotel but not great, either. The staff is very nice and helpful, the hotel is clean and it is very well located, right at Main Ave & 22nd Street. Also good if you are inclined to use the Durango bike/walking path that leads into town, running along the Animas River behind the motel. Otherwise, just an average place. Some scars on the bathroom door of my room, some gaps in caulking around tub/shower, A/C worked fine but fan very noisy, in-room refrigerator worked fine, king bed okay at best, furnishings like bedspread and towels below average. Did not use kitchen facilities which are available to all at the motel/hostel. Two notes -- doors are quite noisy when closing, both interior and exterior, and the motel has a policy of cleaning every third day. Didn't bother me at all but might be a problem for others.
This place deserves 5 star reviews. Excellent location walkable to downtown and a handful of wonderful restaurants. We stayed here for multiple nights while our car was in the shop. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a full kitchen you can use in the common area. The room is quiet and clean. Yes it's not a fancy hotel but it's comfortable and pleasant. We will definitely come stay here again!
Positive: Location. Long walk to downtown restaurants and bars but maybe a five-minute drive. The common area was very clean and neat, places to sit and watch tv. Good kitchen with modern appliances and lots of room to cook or just have coffee. Negative: Room in dorm style with six bunks. Bed was comfortable but literally on the floor. No chair or table for me to put my incidental stuff on. There was one metal chair and one little table for all four guests in that room.
We loved our stay at the junction. The location was perfect, the room was perfect size for my daughter, bestfriend and i. The property was really pretty with the river flowing right behind it. The front desk was very welcoming. My only complaint is I could hear the person above us at 530 am moving things around and they only had an all in one shampoo/conditioner and both ice machines were broken. But all in all I definitely recommend this property.
If you are a light sleeper, this is NOT the place for you. The walls are super thin and you can hear your neighbors and anyone in the hall like they are right next to you. I didn't expect luxury for the price and while the paint, furniture, and fixtures were old, the room was clean. The bed was pretty comfortable. There was no coffee maker in my room, so that was a bit of a disappointment. My 2 night stay cost $179 and they held a deposit of $150 on my credit card for almost a week after I checked out.
