Extremely affordable and well placed hotel, nothing fancy but you know that when you book it you aren't getting a fancy establishment. However, our experience was very bumpy here. Our heater didn't work on a cold day, not a big deal and we were quickly given a new room. The next day after adventuring in the area we came back to our room to find we were locked out. The office was dark even though it was 6pm so we tried calling the main number and no one answered. We then found a sticky note with a number on the office door and an employee drove to the hotel to fix our keys. Just a bit silly.

We stayed in a deluxe king room. Pros: Largest budget hotel room I've seen ever. Plenty of room for gear if you don't want to leave it in your vehicle or for a pack and play for a kiddo. The room was very clean. Hot water in the shower with good water pressure. The bed reasonably comfortable, but very lightweight linens. Front desk clerk friendly, and check in was quick and easy. I felt very safe here and the location perfect for easy access to all the area activity. Cons: The bed was reasonable, but definitely worn. Large hump in the middle, but it didn't really bother us. The biggest problem for us is that the walls are paper thin. We could hear every time our neighbor turned over in bed, walked to the bathroom, or talked on the phone, and we got to listen to their TV all night. We didn't complain bc the volume levels were not excessive...it's just the way the building is constructed. Also our room was right by the stairs so we heard everyone tromping up and down the stairs. Just something to keep in mind when weighing out the balance of budget vs comfort.

I loved this little hotel! It was the least expensive in the area but was still a great stay. All the employees were super friendly, nice and helpful. The location is great, close to town and right on the river with a little seating area. My only issue was the outlets were a little loose making it difficult to plug anything in and there weren't any USB outlets. But that wasn't a huge deal and I could still plug things in. I would definitely stay here again!

I selected The Junction on price. For my weekend it was the cheapest, right around $100/night. It's not a bad hotel but not great, either. The staff is very nice and helpful, the hotel is clean and it is very well located, right at Main Ave & 22nd Street. Also good if you are inclined to use the Durango bike/walking path that leads into town, running along the Animas River behind the motel. Otherwise, just an average place. Some scars on the bathroom door of my room, some gaps in caulking around tub/shower, A/C worked fine but fan very noisy, in-room refrigerator worked fine, king bed okay at best, furnishings like bedspread and towels below average. Did not use kitchen facilities which are available to all at the motel/hostel. Two notes -- doors are quite noisy when closing, both interior and exterior, and the motel has a policy of cleaning every third day. Didn't bother me at all but might be a problem for others.

This place deserves 5 star reviews. Excellent location walkable to downtown and a handful of wonderful restaurants. We stayed here for multiple nights while our car was in the shop. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a full kitchen you can use in the common area. The room is quiet and clean. Yes it's not a fancy hotel but it's comfortable and pleasant. We will definitely come stay here again!

Positive: Location. Long walk to downtown restaurants and bars but maybe a five-minute drive. The common area was very clean and neat, places to sit and watch tv. Good kitchen with modern appliances and lots of room to cook or just have coffee. Negative: Room in dorm style with six bunks. Bed was comfortable but literally on the floor. No chair or table for me to put my incidental stuff on. There was one metal chair and one little table for all four guests in that room.

We loved our stay at the junction. The location was perfect, the room was perfect size for my daughter, bestfriend and i. The property was really pretty with the river flowing right behind it. The front desk was very welcoming. My only complaint is I could hear the person above us at 530 am moving things around and they only had an all in one shampoo/conditioner and both ice machines were broken. But all in all I definitely recommend this property.

If you are a light sleeper, this is NOT the place for you. The walls are super thin and you can hear your neighbors and anyone in the hall like they are right next to you. I didn't expect luxury for the price and while the paint, furniture, and fixtures were old, the room was clean. The bed was pretty comfortable. There was no coffee maker in my room, so that was a bit of a disappointment. My 2 night stay cost $179 and they held a deposit of $150 on my credit card for almost a week after I checked out.

I stayed at The Junction Hostel from Halloween Eve until Sunday Nov 2nd. I highly recommend it as a place to stay if you are visiting Durango and spend most of your time being out and about exploring Durango. Conveniently located on Main Street with access to trolleys that run every 20 minutes. The rooms are clean, quiet, safe and secure. The staff is courteous and professional. Fellow guests are considerate of others. Perfect for travelers! Nearby activities: Conveniently located to downtown and Metro Transit Safety: Quiet, safe & secure

Best affordable hostel in... the world? The Junction has room to grow in areas, sure, but the thing they get right is the most important part of hospitality: taking care of people. Eddy and the Junctions entire front-desk team went out of their way to create an awesome place for me to land in Durango. And since Durango has strict limits on AirBnbs (which is great) it also means its hard to find affordable lodging in this epic mountain town. Does the Junction need better linens? Yes. Does it need better interiors? Yes. Is it loud next to the road? Yes. But heres what you get if you can handle all that: * free coffee * free parking * a babbling brook * a kitchen * a bike path * extremely nice, helpful, rad people * outstanding Mexican food at Zia * pizza by the slice at Homeslice * a Starbucks * a better local coffeeshop called Taste * a track nearby for running Nobody cares more about bikepackers and thru-hikers than The Junction. Mad props & thank you Junction Team

The front desk staff was friendly for the most part. Faith was one of the friendlier front desk, staff members. The front desk staff need to be trained on how to properly address, hotel guests, and to upgrade their attire. Perhaps the administrative team should purchase some shirts to wear that represent the organization. One of the staff members looked like she had just come out of her garage like she was an employee. The front office smelled of something burning. Later it smelled like gas. The common room was not clean. The stove was very filthy. I would never cook on it. The sink had dirty dishes in it. The carpet or the rug under the table needed to be replaced. The furniture in the office and the common room did not look clean enough to sit on. The counter had crumbs. The outside grounds needed maintenance. The garden beds need plants and the debris needs to be removed along with the cigarette butts. They need to have containers for people to put their cigarettes out in. The cement outside of my room had several spills and stains, which were red and purple. These areas need to be pressure washed.the weeds along the outside of the main office building need to be pulled. There needs to be a notation on the booking site that says the pool is not up and running. The pictures on Expedia are not reflective of what I saw. The pictures look great, but The actual facility needs quite a few upgrades. Our room had patched walls that needed fresh paint. There were scratches on the bathroom door and the door into the room needed painting. There was small bugs by the end table that needed cleaning which the staff later did. There is dog food next to the small refrigerator that needed cleaning which the staff later did. The refrigerator was dirty. The top of the microwave was dirty. The floor needed disinfecting and the floorboards needed cleaning. The cleaning staff accidentally took the remote control to the television when they change the sheets which had little black spots on them and wrinkled pillowcases. We did not want to unplug the TV and it was not convenient to contact staff during the night so the TV ran all night long. The hotel has a great location. It is walkable and close to downtown Durango. Even though it is a budget hotel there needs to be a number of improvements. I noticed that the administrative team responds to the reviews saying that they will upgrade the concerns, but obviously that does not really happen. Just because the hotel is a budget hotel does not mean that it should be left unkempt. Rooms: Our room needed upgrades and to be disinfected. The wall by the refrigerator had a spill running down the wall and the room needed painting and cleaning. It appears as though the hotel used to be a rundown place that somebody purchased and supposedly upgraded. Nearby activities: Downtown Durango is not far and they have the fairgrounds that are also close to this hotel. Safety: I saw a few shady characters around the facility. There s no security at all. I would say that One should use caution when going in and out at night and especially if you are alone alone. Walkability: I believe that this hotel has a good location. If you enjoy walking, you can walk and get a good walk in you can Walk to downtown Durango if you want to get a walk in. Noteworthy details: The kitchen, which is the common area needs a good deep clean. Expedia needs to be updated with pictures. It really reflect what the place really looks like. Just because the place is a budget facility does not mean that it should not be clean and tidy. This includes the inside rooms and the outside grounds.

This hotel is one of the most affordable places to stay in the entire area. Located right in downtown, its perfectly situated near the river and trails, making it easy to explore. The Durango-Silverton train is just a 3-minute drive or a 15-minute walk away. Theres plenty of parking available, which is a big plus. We checked in late, around midnight, and the communication was excellent the instructions were clear and easy to follow. You get exactly what you pay for here nothing fancy, but a comfortable and convenient stay at a great price!

We stayed only for the Rally, so we were only in the room for sleep and shower. Walls are thin, and you can literally hear everything, and hear the people take every step above you. One bed has a broken frame, and sagged in the middle, AC unit cover was not attached well and made noise when on, water pressure was ok, bur for the price it worked for us.

Perfect budget accomodation just outside of the city center (25min walking or hop on the trolley). Staff was always present and friendly, they offer free coffee in their huge(!) common kitchen. The common area also includes a TV and various board games. Plenty of parking. Will be back! Rooms: Clean, plenty of space, spacious lockers, small fridge and bathroom in shared rooms. Walkability: 15-25min walking into the city center Food and drinks: Free coffee

The bathrooms need some attention. There needs a good paint job and rec caulking in the bathrooms. I did get really irritated two days in a row. Somebody kept knocking on my door at 5:30 in the morning not very cool when you re on vacation. Walkability: The river trail is right out the door!

This place was great, but it would have been nice if the kitchen was cleaner and better stocked. The utensils and cooking equipment left a lot to be desired, and the kitchen cabinets were not clean, and could have been organized better. There were no paper towels in the kitchen, which was kind of odd. But the rest was great!

The staff were very friendly and helpfull and it is well located for those coming off the Colorado Trail. But the room, a single king, was not close to the level of $20o for the night. No charging bank, complementary coffee station, breakfast, no desk, stripped down decor, and a grungy bathroom. The walls were thin and could hear others talking at 2 am.

It s a great location, the big back parking lot with the stream and access to Rank park, Animas River and close to all shopping, the trolley stops across street from hotel. The views are spectacular. The staff was awesome, and a special shout out to Sadie, Faith, and 2 other fellows that made us feel so comfortable and helped us with getting a room during a holiday and accommodating us the rest of our stay. Would book there again and. Again. Thank you guys for making our stay wonderful.

You should just go camping. The mattresses are stained, the blankets are the kind of swishy-noised lightweight travel blankets you probably already have packed, the bunk bed frames are metal and very noisy, our roommate found candy wrappers in his bed before he made it, and our shower faucet just spun round and round no matter what we did to it. When informed of the unusable shower, desk staff responded by saying it was a known issue and there was a way to make it work. Prior info on that would ve been nice, or an apology of some kind. We could have slept in the car but wanted the shower. After traveling all over the States and Asia, this was one of the most disappointing hostel experiences for us.

Good value you get what you pay for. Some one bought this and flipped cheaply and it shows. I would stay here again given the location and super low cost. I would not have my Wife or daughters stay here. Rooms: Basic and low quality finishes. For the cost you get what you pay for. Paint was poor quality and the old outlets are very loose. Caulking and tile work finishes in the bathroom are very poor. Odor of stale cigarette smoke through the old ptac a/c unit Safety: Room was secure and breeze way was secure. The parking lot as a whole felt secure although the motion lights made it dark when shut off until you activated them. There were transients under the bridge neat by. Noteworthy details: Good value, clean enough, it was a roof over my head really close to the location I was working in.

The Junction is a great affordable option when staying in Durango. It is away from the main bar/restaurant scene downtown but everything is accessible from the Durango Trolley public transit system. If you are on a budget this is the cheapest option youll find. . I stayed in the bunkhouse for the Junctions cheapest option. Suffice to say its not great but little improvements would go a long way. Some of the bunks screw are loose and squeak awfully when people move. The shower definitely is due to be replaced. They also only give you a shampoo/conditioner packet to use in there. . The common space is where youll want to spend most of your time if youre in the bunk house. It is a cozy area and promotes chatter between guests. I wish the TVs worked for more modern apps than just YouTube. Being able to chill and watch a movie in the living space TV would be welcome. . The kitchen is nice with two ovens, big fridge, and plenty of counter space. However, man the sponge in the sink was gross with no clean ones around. No dishwasher either so those dishes for sure are not clean.

Leaving one star is too much in my opinion. If you re a light sleeper or have a toddler steer clear of this place. If you liked being double charged for a room with thin walls and cigarette burns this IS the place for you! Quiet hours are from 10:30pm to 7am but I didn t experience a single quiet hour. You could hear full blow conversations above and next to you, not to mention the slamming of doors. The Junction Hotel and Hostel if you re reading this please refund my 129.95$ by checking your emails. Thanks.
