I've never given a positive review to a rental agency, but the folks at Hertz in DRO have twice gone above and beyond to fix problems that they didn't cause. They actually treat customers like real people, and are quick to help when needed. Thanks!
They fraudulently charged me, and the manager proceeded to argue with me about the refund, saying he guaranteed I was wrong and never charged (I was charged). After apologizing and saying he was wrong, because I had multiple receipts and screenshots, he said I was owed the refund (via an email exchange). Then he (Randy, the manager) then decided he would not be refunding me and never emailed me back to notify me of this. It took several emails to get a reply to be told he changed his mind. Then, I call customer service and am immediately issued a refund, they stated they could clearly see the mistake charge. They reiterated again that this was not correct and I prepaid. I owed nothing more. In sum - Do not rent here. Rent anywhere else. And use a credit card - they will try to charge you extra upon pickup then refuse to refund it.
Uncharged us over $100 without telling us day of a prepaid pickup. Giving us the runaround telling us will be refunded only to make up more excuses. Manager Randy was rude from the beginning and made up lie after lie about why we were upcharged. EDIT: The automated response is the icing on the cake.
ZERO STARS! I made a ONE WAY reservation for today 9/11 and when I got here was told my reservation wasn't made for one way and they "didn't even have a car" to give me a one way rental today anyway. I was very specific with the man I made the reservation with over the phone and even told him one way and he said it was $130. We hiked the CT and were depending on this to get back to our truck in Denver. It left us scrambling and we now have to stay in Durango another night to figure this out. We also only have a debit card since we don't carry credit cards and no one else would help us. The very nice gentleman at AVIS tried his best for us. Go see him instead of HERTZ.
Waiting in line for a car that we did a reservation ahead of time. This company decided to help the white people BEHIND us with NO RESERVATION. Would not recommend if you are any shade darker than white!
Just returned my car. The lady working the counter in Durango was snappy and unfriendly. After I returned home I noticed she had tacked a late return fee onto my final bill. It probably took her an hour to check my car in and so she considered that the check in time. Check your bill
Recently, my truck broke down and I made a same day reservation at this location online. When I got there they told me that they were unable to take same day reservations and that they didn't have any cars available (even though online it said there were cars available). I was told that this has happened multiple times. This, obviously, is not ideal as I was then stranded at the airport. About a week later, I noticed that my credit card was still used on a rental car. It appeared that someone manually entered my credit card information and took a rental car to OK City. I still have been unable to get a refund and it has been a nightmare to try to get this issue resolved.
This is a review for Hertz overall, not the agents in Durango. The car I was given had several issues, one of which was a safety issue. (The brake assist was malfunctioning. Not ideal.) I reported the issues to the return location in Boulder, but the agents there just gave me a phone number to call. When I called this number, I spoke to a woman who told me I should have reported my issues to the agents at the return location (ha!) or called Roadside Assistance. She said she couldn't help me. I asked to speak to someone who could, and she put me on what turned out to be an indefinite hold. I hung up and called back and was, thankfully, greeted by a man who actually did hear me and help me. I know our options for rental cars in Durango are limited, but if I had freedom of choice, I wouldn't go back to Hertz.
