I've never given a positive review to a rental agency, but the folks at Hertz in DRO have twice gone above and beyond to fix problems that they didn't cause. They actually treat customers like real people, and are quick to help when needed. Thanks!

They fraudulently charged me, and the manager proceeded to argue with me about the refund, saying he guaranteed I was wrong and never charged (I was charged). After apologizing and saying he was wrong, because I had multiple receipts and screenshots, he said I was owed the refund (via an email exchange). Then he (Randy, the manager) then decided he would not be refunding me and never emailed me back to notify me of this. It took several emails to get a reply to be told he changed his mind. Then, I call customer service and am immediately issued a refund, they stated they could clearly see the mistake charge. They reiterated again that this was not correct and I prepaid. I owed nothing more. In sum - Do not rent here. Rent anywhere else. And use a credit card - they will try to charge you extra upon pickup then refuse to refund it.

Uncharged us over $100 without telling us day of a prepaid pickup. Giving us the runaround telling us will be refunded only to make up more excuses. Manager Randy was rude from the beginning and made up lie after lie about why we were upcharged. EDIT: The automated response is the icing on the cake.

ZERO STARS! I made a ONE WAY reservation for today 9/11 and when I got here was told my reservation wasn't made for one way and they "didn't even have a car" to give me a one way rental today anyway. I was very specific with the man I made the reservation with over the phone and even told him one way and he said it was $130. We hiked the CT and were depending on this to get back to our truck in Denver. It left us scrambling and we now have to stay in Durango another night to figure this out. We also only have a debit card since we don't carry credit cards and no one else would help us. The very nice gentleman at AVIS tried his best for us. Go see him instead of HERTZ.

Waiting in line for a car that we did a reservation ahead of time. This company decided to help the white people BEHIND us with NO RESERVATION. Would not recommend if you are any shade darker than white!

Just returned my car. The lady working the counter in Durango was snappy and unfriendly. After I returned home I noticed she had tacked a late return fee onto my final bill. It probably took her an hour to check my car in and so she considered that the check in time. Check your bill

Recently, my truck broke down and I made a same day reservation at this location online. When I got there they told me that they were unable to take same day reservations and that they didn't have any cars available (even though online it said there were cars available). I was told that this has happened multiple times. This, obviously, is not ideal as I was then stranded at the airport. About a week later, I noticed that my credit card was still used on a rental car. It appeared that someone manually entered my credit card information and took a rental car to OK City. I still have been unable to get a refund and it has been a nightmare to try to get this issue resolved.

This is a review for Hertz overall, not the agents in Durango. The car I was given had several issues, one of which was a safety issue. (The brake assist was malfunctioning. Not ideal.) I reported the issues to the return location in Boulder, but the agents there just gave me a phone number to call. When I called this number, I spoke to a woman who told me I should have reported my issues to the agents at the return location (ha!) or called Roadside Assistance. She said she couldn't help me. I asked to speak to someone who could, and she put me on what turned out to be an indefinite hold. I hung up and called back and was, thankfully, greeted by a man who actually did hear me and help me. I know our options for rental cars in Durango are limited, but if I had freedom of choice, I wouldn't go back to Hertz.

Dont use Hertz at Laplata Airport. Scam alert. I dropped off the rental before they opened to catch an early flight and Hertz (probably corporate policy) took it upon themselves to charge me for fuel and ancillary service charges well in excess of the original agreed upon fee in hopes that I would just oblige and roll over. DO NOT USE HERTZ

Went to the Durango airport to rent a car. Online it said there were plenty of cars to choose from but when going into airport in person the lady at the desk said they didn t have any cars. I was tempted to book online but who wants to rent from someone that doesn t want the business.

On 1/9/24, we had a flight delay and arrived to the airport an hour after work hours and we were pleasantly surprised there was an employee waiting for us. He provided excellent customer service and was very friendly. We are very happy with the car provided and the process was smooth and quick, I highly recommend this Hertz to anyone.

We rented a car in Albuquerque that wouldnt start, leaving us stranded in Durango in the cold, after dark. We were in a bad situation arriving to the Durango desk, 5 minutes before close. Randy Patscheck went above and beyond to accommodate our situation both with dealing with corporate misunderstandings and our difficult circumstances. Customer service was unacceptable. Attempted to charge me $500 for returning car to a different location, 1.5 hours away. I rent about 6 cars per month for work with Enterprise and occasionally have to drop off cars at a different location - the most I have ever been charged from Enterprise for this is around $25. The Durango location was incredibly hesitant to help me find me an alternative solution, was essentially scoffed at by Cathy for not wanting to pay the fee, and was insistant on charging me $500 on top of my already expensive rental. I was considering switching from Enterprise to Hertz for my montly rentals going into this trip and its safe to say there is a very low chance of that happening now. I ended up having to make my rental a 3 day reservation (which i appreciate the Telluride location assisting me with) but still ended up spending about $400 after fees. I understand that there is a rental car shortage but learn how to take care of your customers. Customer service and fees aside, the car was cleanly and accurate with what I rented online and had no complaints as far as the actual car goes.

Better reserve vehicle well in advance but at least they dont do like Avis and give you a quote and raise the price $300 before you get to the counter
