We had rented a SUV because we are 2 ladies in our 70's. When we arrived we had a full sized dodge ram truck. It is all we can do ti get in it, no running boards, very high off the ground. I have hade a knee replacement and have to be careful getting down out of truck. The lady that rented the vehichle went back in and explained the situation. The clerk was not helpful at all, no other vehicles available. The car we rented was supposed to be waiting. We have called 8 times , no one answered. We would take any kind of car. We can not drive this truck in town. AVIS do what you promised, this reservation was made 6 weeks ago
They recommend you to return your car and drop off the keys in the return box with the given slip to write miles and time of return. After doing this, they charged me an extra day. I called and attendant said it's already processed so for me to contact corporate. Called corporate and they got all the details and will be making adjustments in 5 days. It's been 3 weeks and nothing.
Bigots work here. I am a President's Club member and had a reservation. Everyone behind me was white, nobody had status, few had reservations - all were assigned an intermediate or better vehicle. I was first in line and instead of an upgrade I was downgraded and told I had no priority.
The response to my review from Avis meant nothing. No human actually ever contacted me to resolve the Issue. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS. I travel professionally for work. Upcharged $200 at drop off. The drop off agent wouldn't fix it. Initial rental was $850. At drop off I was charged $1050. When I said the charges were incorrect and to not charge my card they did anyway and told me to call customer service. On hold with multiple agents and was disconnected several times over the course of an hour. White collar theft by Avis. Rent elsewhere.
Scam! Totally unprofessional operation. I was not informed of the credit card debit card policy at the time of reservation. Even used my debit card to pay for reservation. I was denied at the time of pickup. Tried to change pick up location and they wanted to charge an additional $150 for the same car and time frame. Total scam! Do not use! Will never use this company or recommend them to anyone!
We had a terrible experience, avoid them. Unreliable service; they do not honor promised rates at the time of booking, they charge double at pickup. Our flight was delayed by 12 hrs. We called to let them know that we are late. Instead they modified our reservation, which canceled our original reservation and they wouldn't honor original rates. Since we booked them through Priceline, they told us to call Priceline to resolve the issue. Avoid them if you don't want your vacation plans ruined! We ended up purchasing flight out to get out of Durango. This never happened before. Worst experience with car rental in my 20 yrs of traveling. And to management: don't bother with " we are sorry". DO your job and hire qualified staff! You have lots of complaints on this site. And Aisha, your team should be happy to help when ppl ask for help on the spot. Instead, they did nothing to help except referring to Priceline. While we were inline, two other customers complained on the spot how unhappy they were with service or car. And the representative just DID NOT CARE. He was nice, but no resolution. I am not wasting one minute on this car rental losers.
I travel a lot for work, so I've probably rented at least 200 rental cars over the last 20 years, and this was hands down, the worst customer service that I've ever experienced. Please, if you're renting a car in Durango, please use another agency. My wife and I were having a get away weekend for President's Day, and renting a SUV to get us back and forth from Pagosa Springs to Wolf Creek. If you've ever driven this in snow, you know you have to have good treads on your tires, and all-wheel or 4 wheel drive. Being that it was president's day, I guess there weren't a lot of options, so the only option I was given was a Jeep Compass; which is a super small SUV. Then the attendant informed me it was 2 wheel drive. AND, on top of it, had almost no tread on the front tires. Which is completely unsafe if you're driving anywhere in the state of Colorado. When I asked for something else, this was THE only option. The attendant was a complete jerk. To the point, I wandered if he was just angry at something else that had happened that day. I tried to go with another company, but getting in on Friday, most of the cars were already rented with other companies. After driving with the car for 2 days, since I was staying in Southern Colorado a few more days, I asked to trade it in since the weekend was almost over and there would surely be more inventory. I even told them that I didn't feel safe driving with those tires, and he wanted to then charge me another $10 a day to trade the car in for something that was the same exact size. I am absolutely shocked that this is a national company that I've used before and they allow this type of customer service at any of their locations. And then when I asked to get his name, he wouldn't provide it to me, and wouldn't provide his manager's name either. Congratulations guys, worst customer experience of any car rental company I've used before. UPDATE: I had to drive this vehicle through the state of Colorado to get to Denver, then they traded it out for an upgraded vehicle, but did not discount anything for the poor service and dangerous tires. PLUS, they charged me $300 for an empty gas tank, which I had to send in the receipt of the gas I paid for before dropping the car off. Just a crazy, horrible customer service experience with this company.
This location's manager gave me a car with almost all thread gone on tire. I later returned to get replacement and the manager said he does not have any car when there were half dozen parked outside late in the evening. And he said this thread is just fine. I later had a flat tire.
