Hired a van twice at hertz south circular in last few weeks staff were great and I would definitely recommend them
Dreadful. Getting the car took a while. The poor lady was so under resourced but very nice. A medium priced hire care - what a joke. The car had a dint in every panel. The sat Nav never booted up. Tried to call the Hertz office in Dublin but the phone rings out. The car itself has had an error light on the dash since taking the car. The car wrattles. We are still travelling with it and are literally terrified the car will break down. We will not be using Hertz again.
Worst experience ever ! Price booked online and confirmed by email did not match the one obtained when I tried to pick up my car ! They tried to charge me 5EUR extra for using a debit/credit card ! Then, they tried to charge me 35EUR for having a third party insurance ! They wanted to hold 5000 EUR on my credit card for 2 days of rental for one of their cheapest categories ! I talked to the manager about my situation (manager unhelpful!) Result : I wasted 1 hour of my weekend and I decided to go with Avis few minutes away (Avis respected the price shown online and the staff were very helpful and efficient)! Never again this Hertz!
Worst customer experience renting a car in 20 years. Got charged for the same insurance twice. Was promised the support contact I got, would refund the additional charge after the rental. I had to chase the guy with several emails. Instead of a refund I received an extremely rude rejection by email. Can recommend the guys from Europcar though, far better customer service!
Horribly long lines.Incredibly rude counter staff. Had to wait over 2 hours once arriving there between the line to sign rental agreement and then again to wait for someone to bring back a car and still got charged overage time for my rental even though the "overage time" was spent waiting in a lobby trying to pick up a car!! Insurance was 3x more than quoted online even after I called Hertz 1800 number to make sure it couldn't be higher and that I had selected the maximum insurance possible After dealing with Hertz corporate I will never use them again. First, I was outright ignored for 3 straight months of attempting to contact them via email. Second, I've been told they don't see a problem with any of this situation. Basically I'd try anybody except Hertz if traveling to Dublin.
I used Hertz in Dublin city centre during my short stay in Ireland with my wife. We decided to travel to the west for a few days and booked a ford focus size car as this was the best value for money. The service was great and we were on the road very quickly in a new Audi A3. Our journey was well over 1,000 kilometres and there was still some diesel left at the end - amazing.....
I've just returned to Dublin after a weekend trip to the west of Ireland, having attended a friends wedding. The weekend was fantastic and saved by Hertz city office!! Lets face it, my own car has seen better days and of course decided just hours before my journey west to breakdown. I dropped into the Hertz office and met a guy there called Mark. He was great. Even at such short notice he was able to arrange a fantastic Audi (not the calibre of car I'm acustomed to!) costing EUR100 all in for the weekend - less than the cost of the hotel room!! I would certainly deal with Hertz and Mark again!!
I'd almost given up on car hire firms in Dublin. I've my own runabout car, but travel to see family & friends around the country quiet regular & have always hired a car on these visits. We travelled to Cork in September for a weekend & decided to try Hertz at South Circular Road. They gave us a new Opel Zafira which was excellent - the drive down was great & we were able to bring plenty of luggage with us, with the additional space. The staff were excellent & the price we paid was the price quoted to us when we made the booking. All in all a great service, I would definitely recommend Hertz for car hire in Ireland.
