Relatively easy rental service. Close to the main streets for driving outside Dublin. Good service.
Our experience with Hertz has been awful. We have received conflicting information at every encounter and additional charges including: 1. Whether or not you are to bring the car back with fuel full or empty; in which we were told unprompted a. at pickup that our best outcome was to bring the car back empty, b. at drop off that it should be full or we would be doubly charged. 2. Whether if we were able to purchase a car before the end of the rental period that we could return the rental car early and receive previous funds back; though we were told upon return that this was not the case. We returned the vehicle 9 days early and provided no refund for returning the car early. 3. We were charged EUR1,000+ in extra insurance charges after already having paid for full insurance at the pickup desk and customer service refused any refund.
I feel cheated, I paid for a ford kuga or similar and they gave me a dacia duster, we protested and they didn't gave me any solution. Very bad.
I've been a Hertz customer since my team and I designed their new global headquarters in Florida in 2014. Having seen the inner workings of the company I am particularly attuned to how they address customer service. My family and I were driving from Dingle to Dublin and had not accounted for Dublin rush hour traffic. We made it within 10 minutes of closing time, but the gentleman at the desk accepted the return (Hertz did not inform us that they officially stop taking returns 15 minutes before closing) speedily, let us use the restroom and completed the return in speedy fashion. Thank you sir! Im not giving 5 stars because when we tried calling, it always went to a generic voicemail that didn't even identify whether you had reached Hertz. Plus, when we were just a few feet from the front gates, a taller guy locked the gates in front of us -- walked right past us without a word clearly seeing we were headed out. I thought, no worries, there is likely a gap where people can leave. No such luck, we had to lug our suitcases and climb over the chain portion of the gate that was about 3' high.
Doing an online reservation (all paid online) when we arrive there the guy just says that we need a credit card (nothing stated on the reservation) and we don't know for what or how legal is that if it's already paid and they not even ask for a deposit as it should be. He charges us an extra 100EUR on the reservation on terms they don't have a credit card but when he gives us the receipt it says nothing about that, he just added us some insurances that probably he has commissions on. Bunch of scammers. Later on they also proceed to charge us on our debit card 4 times more than the 1st time we paid with different amounts and with any notice. Stay away from them.
Great experience picking up our car! Great with advice on the rental and directions to head to our next destination. Location was easily accessible via city bus, and we didn't have to deal with airport traffic.
Quick easy and painless! The gentlemen at the counter were easy to deal with and gave us some ideas for our little road trip. They were able to answer all of our questions about insurance and were able to give us some approx times of what our trek was going to be.
I wish I had more positive things to say about Hertz Dublin in North Circular Road. Service was not helpful in the desk and they don`t answer from customer service (email / phone). I had booked and pre-paid Nissan Quashqai, but when I got there they offered Dacia Duster. That turned out not to be similar car and was smaller for passengers and luggages, so had to updgrade Volvo V60. Techical condition and cleanliness was pretty bad for this Volvo car. The car showed warning signs "Maintenance overdue" and "Tyre pressure low". I wish they took better care of their customers and rental cars at Hertz Dublin.
