They use low prices to attract customers, and then when you get to the car rental place, they don't accept any other insurance you bought, and require you to buy their own expensive insurance. It's a bit deceptive. I don't recommend it!

I have rented a car with Europcar several times. There were very various experiences with the service at the counter. Some really bad, when they tried to sell an extra insurance or tried to charge an airport fee (2014). But most of the time it was very positive.

We rented a car here for few days and everything went well. I was really sceptical due to the bad reviews, but being objective the experience was really good. My brother's flight was delayed and they were about to close, the people in the counter were really kind and waited for us. They explained to us that it was better to hire the insurance which I recommend as if you don't do it , the company will freeze 1.5K from your car until you return the car. I would say the insurance makes sense and you don't need to be worried at all. The only thing I would recommend is perhaps to checkout with them in advance price of the hire plus insurance as it's not shown on the price. Everything else was good.

They charge more to rent from here as opposed to "Dublin North" but in my case the line was so long in terminal 2 they sent me to Dublin North to check in promising more agents and less of a line. Total lie. 15 parties ahead of me and just two agents whereas there were three in the terminal. Either way the cars are at Dublin North, not at the airport. But if you check in at the airport, you just pick up your key at Dublin North which looked faster but is still not the airport location. Hertz looked good if you have your choice. No line at all.

I totally agree with the other bad reviews. The insurance scam they are running guarantees you are either buying their overpriced insurance or spending hours trying to figure it out. The '5 star reviews' I'm reading must be paid. I got there, with a doc from my chase Visa card showing 'worldwide coverage'. Not acceptable to them. Spent 90 minutes on the phone with visa, finally got a specific letter on visa letterhead that said 'worldwide coverage'. They refused it, and required the phrase 'the formerly excluded countries of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland are now covered'! It took another 90 minutes and I only got that because my Chase visa person was so nice. All the booking docs said was that you needed written proof of insurance which is what I started with. Note that my car was $35 a day, and the woman at the counter tried to force me to buy an additional $70/day of insurance-- double the car rental fee! Do NOT rent here. It ends up being cheaper using Hertz

Great rental from start to finish. The main thing that others have as a problem is that they don't read. I showed up with the letter from my credit card company stating that I had insurance. No problem. I expected the EUR5000 euro hold to not buy their insurance. No problem. There were several dings in the car, all previously noted. No problem. I returned it with a scuff that can be buffed out. No problem. The car was a dream and everyone was very nice. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Terrible experience with europar. Go without another company! Let me vent... - Took SO long to get car and did all the paperwork ahead of time to avoid wait. - they wouldn't let us rent car without a note from bank, so we had to pay 300,00 euro for insurance... told us he wouldn't accept third party insurance now. Felt scammed. - when we returned car they charged us 100euro for damage and smell (we didn't have damage, besides traveling with kids and it needing detailed after)... and the "full coverage" we had to pay to rent didn't cover inside. Just wrong. So total renting the car and everything together for only 4 days was over 800euro. Just felt ridiculous. But Ireland was beautiful and loved having a car and traveling the country, just wouldn't use this company again.

Just got hit up for a tyre and a new rim by Europcar on return at Dublin Airport. Car and tyre had 22000+ km on it and the tyre prior to rental. Don't know if cut in tyre happened during my rental. Cut was not deep. Just know the fair call was half the cost of a tyre. I really felt that this was a well rehearsed routine by Europcar to extract more money from the rental. Fellow doing the check back was disrespectful, quoting regulations and asking me if I read the rental agreement. Making a mountain of a molehill. He really succeeded in thoroughly annoying me. Will that the car will be back on the road with the same rims tomorrow.

RUN AWAY!!! Scammers. They will try to get you by any means possible. If you do not take additional options such as secondary driver, larger car, insurance... It is on your return that they will give you value for money, by notifying you of the repairs to be carried out (with excess to be paid of course) . They will not hesitate to lie to you, if you dont understand English very well, it will be even worse. For our part, they made us believe that there was a 400 deposit except that they billed us without our knowledge for insurance which we obviously did not need but once payment was made: its too late. They give you the keys without going around the car and only give a paper with the report of the car which can only be modified within 12 hours via email. The seller told us that we had 24 hours to report any problems (another lie). BE VERY CAREFUL, THE PRACTICE IS COMMON AMONG ALL RENTERS IN THIS COUNTRY BUT ONE ADVICE: TRY ANOTHER!!!.

Cest a votre retour quils en auront pour votre argents, en vous signalant des reparations a effectuer (avec franchise a payer bien sur). Ils nhesiteront pas a vous mentir, si vous ne comprenez bien tres bien langlais, ce sera encore pire. Pour notre part, ils nous ont fait croire que il y avait 400 de caution sauf que ils nous ont factures a notre insu une assurance dont nous navions evidemment pas besoin mais une fois le paiement fait : cest trop tard. Ils vous remettent les cles sans faire le tour de la voiture et remettent seulement un papier avec le constat de la voiture modifiable uniquement dans les 12heures via un mail. Le vendeur nous a dit que on avait 24 heures pour signaler deventuel probleme (encore un mensonge). SOYEZ TRES VIGILANT, LA PRATIQUE EST COURANTE CHEZ TOUS LES LOUEURS DANS CE PAYS MAIS UN CONSEIL : ESSAYEZ EN UN AUTRE !!!.

Very poor service. Slow shuttle bus service. Waited nearly an hour to collect car. Instead of holding card details for a deposit they have applied full charge again, despite having paid in full at time of booking. Can only contact Customer Service by email and they just don t reply. Will not consider Europcar in the future.

The vehicle was not ready when I arrived even though I had indicated an arrival at 4 p.m., I did not collect my vehicle until 6:30 p.m. When booking, it was specified that the vehicle would be at the airport, but I had to take a shuttle outside the airport to collect it. Directions to the shuttle were not clear. I was given a larger vehicle but it was under-equipped (an old Davia Duster with manual rear windows, manual mirrors, system dating from the 90s, no cruise control, etc.) had suffered numerous damages and dated from 3 previous generations, explaining to me that I was upgraded. It consumed more fuel than the reserved class and its condition did not inspire confidence.

Lors de la reservation, il etait precise que le vehicule serait a laeroport, or jai du emprunter une navette hors de laeroport pour le recuperer. Les indications pour rejoindre la navette netaient pas claires. On ma confie un vehicule plus grand mais celui-ci etait sous equipe (un vieux Davia Duster avec vitres manuelles a larriere, retroviseurs manuels, systeme datant des annees 90, pas de regulateur de vitesse...) avait subis de nombreux dommages et datait de 3 generations precedentes en mexpliquant que jetais surclasse. Il consommait plus de carburant que la classe reservee et son etat ninspirait pas confiance.

I had a problem with my rental, they gave me a car with wet upholstery and a half-full tank after waiting for a while, when I complained to an employee he told me that I was absolutely right and that I should not worry that they would solve it for me with an upgrade at no cost, when I return the car they tell me that everything is ok and they do not return all the money blocked on my card? Horrible experience, they charge twice the rental price just for insurance, I had insurance through the Mastercard Black that I have and they didnt accept forcing you to take out their insurance. value of 440 euros for 10 days, simply ridiculous.

Me and my partner made reservations online and payed more than half of it. When we got to the desk at the airport. The service was friendly, but we believe an error was made with the payment. We we charged the full amount. We didn t pay attention and such things can happen. Since we got home, the start of November we are trying to contact the customer service, but so far we haven t gotten any response yet. I m very disappointed, because service should extend even till after your rental is finished. I haven t have these kind of experiences with Sixt. I would recommend Sixt over Europecar.

Prepaid for my rental for 217 and was overcharged during vehicle pick-up for 251 . I was then charged 168 for vehicle damages at drop-off yet I have photo proof that the vehicle was already damaged at pick-up Finally, the vehicle was faulty as the 4th and 5th gears would unexpectedly be unresponsive on the highway. This led me to dangerous situation that could have been much worse. This rental agency is a scam. Please keep away from it.
