After landing in Dublin late due to delays, many hours of travel, and finding out that Hertz had cancelled my booking (and then experiencing the rudest agent while trying to find a solution) I walked into Europcar exhausted, defeated and stressed. I walked in, and the help desk employee asked how she could help, I, very tired, burst into tears. She brought me a drink, sat and chatted with me and assured me they would do all they could to help. And they did. They got me in a car so quickly, offered a great deal on insurance and the rental (literally almost a thousand euros less than Hertz), encouraged me to call my accommodations just to make sure everything else would be smooth, gave me tourist advice. They went above and beyond. I can't thank them or recommend them enough!
Friendly counter staff. Was offered a free upgrade to a two sizes bigger car, but knowing the state of the country roads in Ireland we declined. Got a Hyundai i10 that was more than big enough for 3 adults, picked it up in the morning at the airport parking just outside the terminal. Handed it off at the parking lot and got a shuttle bus back. Quick and hassle-free, though the deposit won't be paid back for 8-10 days which seems a bit excessive.

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with Europcar that left me feeling completely scammed. This company is less of a car rental service and more of a glorified insurance company looking to fleece you at every turn. First and foremost, a serious warning to all Canadian and USA citizens: you will need a *signed letter from your bank* to rent a car from Europcar to use your CC insurance. This ridiculous requirement isn't made clear anywhere, and if you don't have it, they'll force you into buying their exorbitantly priced insurance. A simple list of supported insurance providers would have been extremely easy for them to provide, but conveniently, they don't. Now, onto their insurance scam: they tried to strong-arm us into paying for their most premium insurance at a staggering 45 euros a day when our actual car rental was only about 15 euros a day! This is outright extortion. When we refused, they did everything possible to make us feel that we had no other choice, preying on travelers who may not be familiar with local requirements. This entire experience was a complete scam from start to finish. Europcar is dishonest, unhelpful, and clearly more interested in gouging their customers than providing a decent service. Avoid them at all costs - buyers beware!
Visited Ireland with my wife. We did our homework before hand. Recommended to rent small because of space on roadways and parking. Best advice yet. Checked my own insurance, credit card company and CAA, we weren't covered so we took the Europcar coverage. Affordable and covered everything, I would recommend. Counter staff very helpful. Shuttle service quick, clean and friendly. Return agent was awesome, thank you Martha! We were worried about an incorrect fuel charge but that was corrected. We would recommend Europcar to family and friends. Word of advice, if your flight is delayed call customer service and tell them you are delayed or late. Otherwise you will lose out on your rental.
Avoid at all costs. They offer low rates online but when you show up, they force you to buy their inflated insurance. They will only except outside insurance from 2 credit cards and you need to give them a letter stating your coverage and info when you pick up your car. None of this information is provided prior to arriving at the check out desk. Ivan then does a song and dance about renting everything from scooters to helicopters trying to get you to request a vehicle outside your preconfirmed size. It's a slow process and if you ask to speed it up he directed me the main office, Burning another hour of my time in Ireland. Worst experience ever. Would never book with europcar again. How does Ireland allow such a bait and switch process.
Rental started off a little lazy. I didn't realize Fox was part of Europcar, nor did I realize out of country insurance was going to be required and more than double the price I budgeted for on the rental. Nobody walked over car with me before they gave me keys. It had only a half tank of fuel, so I took pictures before I left. Everything went smooth until after I returned the vehicle and got back to the states. Noticed extra charges on my card. It took weeks to get a reply where someone admitted it was for fuel. (I returned the car with 1/4 tank more than I left with). I even sent in the pictures and am being given the runaround. I've had to dispute the charges with my credit card company since Europcar seems to be trying to slow play me.
Everything was absolutely uncomplicated. Staff was very polite. After declining the initial offers for extra insurance (as I have coverage through my credit card) I was given a Renault Clio in very good condition. Minor superficial damages had been documented in advance. Also there was a possibility to report further damages within a few hours if discovered only after leaving the rental premises. Returning the car was also uncomplicated and friendly. The car rental area outside the airport is well signposted when coming from the M1/M50. Fast and friendly shuttle from/to the terminal. I have absolutely nothing to complain about
