AVOID this Car Rental outfit at Dublin Airport or their associate EUROPCAR. The do not recognize third-party CDW insurance from Visa, MasterCard or other Insurance Companies. They will REFUSE to release a car to you unless you pay several hundred euros to get their own insurance coverage thus jeapordising your complete holiday. You are basically held HOSTAGE by these people.

Good price and service. Disappointed by the hard sell to upgrade car and insurance. I understand they have to try but know your audience! I was taking a car to visit elderly mother a 40 mins drive away not a tour of Ireland! Also to another reviewers point..I think everyone should know at this stage you have to use a credit card for a hire car deposit to avoid paying for their daily insurance rate..however the booking email is misleading as it states to bring a payment card not specifically a credit card. If you show up without a credit card expect to pay daily insurance rate but this goes for all car hire companies. Also note the cars are unchecked and it's upto you to check and report scratches and dents yourself. Mine had a few that I had to email in within 12 hours.

From my point of view this company is 100% crooks. Was charged 375 euro for a scratch of 2,7 cm and which was on the car before collection. Also the scratch was so down low that was simply not visible unless you know where is it exactly. Person who was examining the car upon collection found very quickly. I am sure this how they make money, by simply ripping off their customers. So for me Europecar and Carhire are absolute crooks

Friendly staff and easy to rent a CAR For last 3 months I been hiring car for this place on a weekly basis. - Shuttle from Dublin Airport is very fast and quick. - It only takes less 10mns frm Airport to Car Hire centre. - There is ticketing system in place, as soon as u get down frm Shuttle straight go to Kiosk for ur ticket. - Drinking water and Toilets are available and good. - U r going to return ur car to same place so save the location.

Have rented a few cars over the past few years through carhire.ie. Good experiences overall - fair price, newish cars, friendly service. Sometimes you pickup at the terminal but mostly it's a transfer bus to the airport car hire hub. Usual attempt to sell expensive excess insurance and the excess amount was blocked on my card for a few days. That's what they do and I don't have a problem. Returns have been easy and never a problem with damage. They're not great at documenting damage - make sure any additional damage noted and photos emailed within the 12hrs. I'll use again.

We booked a car and they gave us a clearly inferior one that couldnt even modify the seat height and that is a big problem for a 2m person. Then the car was defective, in poor condition on the outside, with a hubcap missing. When proceeding with the reservation, it turns out that since the credit card is not in the name of the driver, it is not valid, which is not stated in the conditions and they make you pay insurance to use the debit card or include another person if they have of credit. That is to say, it ended up being expensive, I feel scammed and I would not hesitate to prevent someone from booking. Furthermore, the attention of the person who served us was horrible.

Very disappointed in this company. Informed the Europcar desk clerk that we had paid for a hire car with the additional insurance. However, they still charged an additional amount for more insurance and then only refunded half. At no stage the person explain that they were doing this! They just presented a completed form and asked us to sign, at no stage was the additional cost pointed out to us. Definitely a case of taking advantage of passengers who have arrived from a long flight, putting their trust in the company. Avoid booking with the company and if you do, be very wary if you book with them, query every bit of the paperwork (because they wont explain the detail). I have appealed the charge, and will update when I hear back.

Agency which belongs to EuropCar. Very bad experience on arrival. The employee Caroline forces us to take out additional insurance on the grounds that our card is not a credit card. Problem being, knowing about this scam in foreign countries, we had the card changed before the trip. We therefore have a card that does both credit and debit, and the word credit is clearly indicated on it. The person Caroline doesnt want to know anything and forces us to take out insurance at 35 per day. However, we had already taken out insurance when booking online... Then she doesnt go around the car and just gives us the keys. We go around ourselves and take photos of all the scratches etc. We came back to tell her at the office so that she could add it to the inventory (nothing was marked despite the heavy damage to the car!). Agency to avoid, a scam!

Renting a car went without a problem, we got a different car model than the one booked but in the same price class. We had additional insurance, so we didnt pay any deposit and we didnt have to worry about anything. Even returning the car was smooth. The car (Toyota Yaris) was new, had 50,000 km on it and had a lot of assistants, which is useful on narrow roads in Ireland.

My first experience with Carhire/Europcar wasnt great to start with. The guy at the counter inside the airport was rude. He asked me if I wanted an automatic gearbox, to which I said no... When I arrived at the car location, to my surprise, the car that was ready for me was an automatic. After complaining about this, they solved the situation, however I spent 40 minutes waiting for the manual car that I asked.

Total scam as you can t drive without insurance and it was not clear at all when I booked. DO NOT BOOK CAR HIRE THOUGH THEM!!!

The agency is in fact europcar The person at the counter wanted to force me to take out their guarantee even though I had taken out another guarantee Attention. You absolutely need a credit card for the security deposit - obviously mine didnt work!!! I had to go to the agency where we collect the vehicle (be careful there are shuttles) and miraculously my credit card worked otherwise I would have had to pay their insurance . Be careful, take videos of the vehicle from all angles. While returning the car the officer noticed a fart, which had not been mentioned! If I hadnt taken photos and videos, it was for my apple!! In short, bad experience!!!!

Carhire/Europcar Dublin ripped me off by rejecting my credit card-provided insurance, and forcing me to buy theirs at an inflated price. The agent insisted that I needed a letter from my credit card company specifically saying that it covered Irish rentals. I managed to get an immediate email saying that my coverage applied everywhere Visa is accepted, but this wasn t good enough. I wasn t warned about this obscure rule when I made the booking. The agent blamed the online booking company, but to me, it s a Europcar Dublin scam.

Prepaid for my rental for 217 and was overcharged during vehicle pick-up for 251 . I was then charged 168 for vehicle damages at drop-off yet I have photo proof that the vehicle was already damaged at pick-up Finally, the vehicle was faulty as the 4th and 5th gears would unexpectedly be unresponsive on the highway. This led me to dangerous situation that could have been much worse. This rental agency is a scam. Please keep away from it.

The employee at the airport counter withheld the amount along with the remaining payment that was missing to complete the reservation but no matter how much we are complaining, they will not return the money. We returned the full tank of gasoline and they gave us the OK, now forcing us to file a consumer complaint since they do not answer our emails. When we picked up the car, the employee at the airport counter told us that we had to leave a deposit of 80 for the fuel tank. We even paid extra for the premium cover. We returned the car with a full tank, they checked it and told us that everything was ok. After 1 month of complaints they refuse to refund the deposit. They do not reply to our emails so we have filed a consumer complaint.
