Avoid at all cost. Pre-booked our vehicle through the website for a total of PS170. While collecting our vehicle the representative offered us complete coverage for a additional PS20 a day for just under a total of PS200 and told at the same time a PS800 hold would be placed on our card. Upon return we were told our total was nearly PS900, which we refused and did not stay to dispute in order to catch our flight. This IS incredibly predatory, especially for international travelers, to have to deal with hours before a flight.

Having had a couple of less than auspicious experiences with Avis at Stansted and Bristol, I booked another rental from Dublin Airport and it couldn't have been better! Amazing welcome when I went to pick the car up, lovely car and great drop off ... all at an extremely reasonable price! Well done Avis Dublin!

A few weeks ago, we rented a car and were charged a EUR158 deposit. Upon returning the car, we were informed that EUR110 would be refunded, with the remaining amount covering insurance. However, after four weeks and numerous emails with customer service--specifically Rachel Farrell, who was unhelpful--I have yet to receive the refund or an invoice confirming the amount released. Despite following up and contacting my bank as instructed, Rachel stopped responding. I'm extremely disappointed with the service and strongly advise others to consider alternative car rental companies and avoid Avis.

Definitely don't rent from AVIS at this Dublin Airport location, by far the worst rental car experience I've had. We prepaid and reserved our car rental and got our estimate which included amounts for surcharges and taxes, and we made that payment 2 months ahead. When I returned my car they refused to give me any sort of paper receipt and said it would come by email later. When I got it, there were large additional amounts for Location Surcharge, VAT tax, and Other/Miscellaneous charges (one of which is for holding my own insurance.. um what?) and for a second driver, even though the desk agent said he had switched the contract holder name to avoid that. None of these are detailed or explained. This doubled the amount of the prepayment and actual car rental. It felt very dishonest and was really just lying to us up front to get us to take their car, and charged us way more later. You have lost a Preferred Avis customer and I will definitely no longer be renting with them.. they also tell you to email with any comments or issues, but no one ever responds, so don't bother.

Unfortunately, I had much a similar bad experience as another reviewer here. Avis charged me 1300 euros for the scratch in this picture and have provided no itemization, just "MISCELLANEOUS". I would recommend looking at another rental provider even if you normally use Avis in other countries as I do.

Awful experience overall. Check in was fantastic. Car great. There was a small scratch at the front which I took a photo of before I left. Kris checked me in and spotted the scratch. I showed him the picture and he said I'd be alright. I signed the iPad and hurried off. I find he's added PS2,500 to the bill! Presumably for the scratch! I am now wasting trying to get this sorted out. I won't be using AVIS again and I am certainly not paying for a scratch I didn't cause.

Picked up the car at farranfore, drove it home and the following day drove to Dublin and got told I had put scratches on the rear bumper. Well I didn't but I made a mistake in not taking a good close up video of the car all round. They have your credit card details and most people flying into Dublin are flying out so they can't really fight the case and they have you over a barrel. I'm putting up photos so that no one else will be paying for scratches on the back bumper and I advise anyone hiring out a car from here to have a good look round the car and point out every little scratch and get a member of staff and show them before you take the car and get it added to the report

I would highly recommend AVIS Dublin Airport Family. Every time I'am in Ireland (10+ times a year) it was always a very professional and upscale service provided. I'm a corporate customer, renting compact class cars for the most of the time. With AVIS I can always count for a higher class car for the entire rental period. Staff also sees that status long-term AVIS customers are worth to have. During my recent rental I was given an brand new Nissan Qashkay. Car was in mint condition. Clear guidelines about car pickup - car drop-off. AVIS quality :) On the way back to the Dublin Airport I have experience quite unusual weather conditions on M50 :)))

I ll never gonna rent from AVIS AGAIN.. It s been 1 month since I returned a car at Dublin s airport from Avis and they still haven t return the extra money I gave the for the fuel in case it wasn t full..We talk to them only by email and they don t give an actual answer..they also refuse to send you an invoice that they have return the amount of the money to your bank..

Generally good, new cars, clean fleet .. limited messing around with trying to sell extras etc. .. My only perennial gripe with them is that unlike some of their competitors they dont like you to return the vehicles to the location beside the terminal building forcing you to return to the remote facility with a shuttle bus ride back to the terminal .. If they allowed returns to the facility beside the terminal for Preferred members or similar that would make it perfect. Edited to Add : My criticism about the drop off remains, everything else is still good .. The drop off at the remote facility at Dublin Airport is usually chaotic, slow and the bus service to the terminal erratic .. Some of their competition allow premium members to drop at the terminal, Avis never encourage this .. This week the drop off was better, but thats the first time in ages its been smooth .. Ill edit the review again if it is consistently improved, but so far Id doubt it.

Very unfriendly young lady (blond) at the counter on Monday November 11th 2024 at 10am. So mad I didn t get her name. While we were returning the car we were not aware that the return area was different than the pickup area. And so she states this is not the return area in which my response was what does that mean . Her response was this is not the return area so basically you will not explain a tourist how it works when returning the car? Instead you think it s appropriate to give an attitude for doing your job? It is so sad that these people represent avis who we are actually contented with in other countries. If you re interested in renting a car please know that the deposit is 2500. And just to give you an insight. The car was rented for just two days!!! Now looking back at other reviews I guess it s standard that customer service is very poor!

Everything was completely problem-free, the car was in top condition and a great bargain. You can get all the information at the counter in the airport, then you take a shuttle to the parking lot where you get the keys and car. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes. The blocked deposit of 2,000 euros was quickly released.

Ridiculously bad customer service, do NOT book with Avis/Budget at Dublin Airport. They put words in our mouths (saying we called them scammers), cancelled our contract without our agreement, and talked bad about us literally in front of us to their co-workers. All this terrible attitude from us saying the company uses tactics to sell their increased insurance plan by requiring a 3000 (!!!!) deposit for the no insurance car reservation. Customer service if you see this then feel free to reach out privately for the specific employees responsible.

COMPLETELY AWFUL - book your hire car with *anyone else* (there are plenty to choose from at Dublin airport) Im sorry to say that I got scammed by Avis, alongside many other poor people picking up their hire cars on the day we arrived. Buried in the Ts&Cs (apparently, although the agent behind the desk couldnt find it to show me) is a clause which says you need to pay a 2500 deposit when you pick the car up, otherwise you have to pay ~ 200 for their no excess insurance policy. Id spent a few days in advance of the rental trying to get hold of an agent on the phone to check this with them, and they lied to me on the phone and said that wouldnt be the case at the pick up desk. The agent on the pick up desk was very rude, cared more about getting to his lunchbreak on time than the sudden doubling of the cost of our hire car, and for every solution we tried to come up with to avoid being scammed (Can my friend pay the deposit on their credit card?), we were told no. Following up with their customer services dept after we returned from our trip was equally fruitless (and they were equally rude too). Personally Ive vowed NEVER to use Avis again, and I can only recommend you to do the same. Simply on the basis that its not possible to have a worse experience than the one we had.

Avis Ireland charges 30 Euro to use your own insurance provided by your credit card. This is not disclosed at the time of service, but only when you are picking up your car. It feels like a bait and switch to not disclose these fees at the time of choosing which car company to go with. - My cars check oil / engine needs service light was on - The front end of the car ground (past tense of grind) when it turned left - The brakes growled when applied - The shuttle bus has a loose motor mount which shakes the bus and makes the ride very loud - When returning the car, the employee did not seem to care about the issues with the car. This is almost certainly an issue with the owner / leader of the franchise.

I had a horrible experience renting at this location. In short, I was inappropriately overcharged to repair pre-existing damage (that I had time stamped photos of). When I picked up the car at the airport, the gentleman at the front desk gave me a list of pre-existing damage, however he told me that if I saw any additional damage I should take a photo of it before leaving the lot. I returned my car with a dent on a side (happened during my rental period), upon the return I was upfront and discussed it with the employee there in hopes of resolving it. I made sure to mention I had photos of pre-existing damage on the bumper and front of the car- in an effort to avoid confusion and avoid unnecessary charges. I got all of the necessary paperwork and went on my way. Later upon receiving the charges, I saw it was for 3400, which seemed like a lot. When I reviewed the repair bill I noticed that I was being charged to replace items that I had no part in damaging (front and rear bumper, doors, mirrors, grills). I sent Avis Dublin an email including time stamped photos, they stopped responding to me. I called Avis corporation and wasted 3 months attempting to remedy this situation, they eventually told me that the Dublin location closed my complaint out and there was no action I could take. And on top of all of this I was charged a massive depreciation fee. So please be very careful about renting from this location, get everything in writing, and document like your life depends on it.

Be sure to take extensive videos and photos inside AND outside the car! We had to show our video when we returned the car to prove that we didnt make one scratch, and they followed up by email trying to charge us for another scratch. The cars arent in great condition to begin with, and theyll try to pin it on you if they can. Also be prepared for the 5000 hold on your credit card if you dont take their insurance. Im not sure the other rental agencies are any better in Ireland, but this experience left a bad taste in our mouths.

I have no complaints about the car we got, but I do have to complain about the charges and the fact that we had to use our phones for GPS? or pay extra??? It cost me twice as much when I got there to pick up the car. The online estimate was around $600 when they were thru with Insurance charges and who knows what else I had to pay around $1400. I always use Enterprise, but I was looking for an automatic, didnt want the hassle of driving on the different side of the road and on the different side of the car and shifting with the left hand??? Loved Ireland, but I feel like we were ripped off at Avis. All should have been disclosed at the time I reserved the car. What can you do when you are arriving? you have no choice but to pay the piper.

Very courteous and professional staff. They always take the time to explain the details of my rental agreement and there is NO usual upgrade sales pressure that most insurance companies give. In case you forget to fill the gas tank to Full... there is a 24 hour gas station right near the airport and close to the Avis return lot. My only complaint, apparently all my rewards points cant be used or transferred for car rentals in Ireland.
