The Alamo team here was very quick easy and efficient when renting a car. I had my car ready for me, once I arrived from the airport off the shuttle bus. The service was professional and friendly. And it was just as easy and pleasant dropping off the car. Definitely recommend this company compared to the other rental cars at this airport.
I don't often leave a review, but here I feel like I have to so nobody makes the same mistake as my friends and I. We got the car on the 15th in Dublin in the morning, and in the afternoon near Laragh, County Wicklow, we had a trouble with the car which told us that we could not reverse. We stopped and called assistance on the number that was on the car. It redirected us to Entreprise Support and thus began a lot of back and forth trying to get someone to call us back and assess the situation. This took a lot of time. After quite a while we were told to wait for the AA to come and tow the car back to the Dublin Airport Depot. We waited for 4 hours in total. Despite having warned their services that we were a party of 5, no arrangements had been made to bring us back to Dublin with the car. The tow truck driver after having tried to see if the reverse gear worked (it did not), and checked with his boss to see if there were taxis available (they were none), told us to drive forward to our accommodation in Adamstown, County Wexford. We were told that Entreprise Wexford would call us in the morning to sort us out with a new car. After quite an exhausting and nerve-racking experience of driving a faulty on the motorway during the night, in the morning, no arrangements had been made, the branch apparently had not read their messages and it fell on us to call everyone and make sure we were sorted out. In the end, we had to go from our accommodation in Adamstown to Wexford on our own, which wouldn't have been possible without the kindness of our hosts because no taxi services were available. The new car could only be picked up after 5 p.m. which cost us a full day of visits and quite a lot of stress. We waited for hours in a forest near Laragh on the night of the 15th for nothing because in the end we drove the same car, in the same state it was in when we stopped and called support. We were told by the Entreprise Branch in Wexford that we would get a refund for the time lost. Once we got to the Dublin Airport Alamo/Entreprise depot, we were told that we would get a call from the manager to sort this out. The call never came. We tried to call their services and couldn't reach anyone so we left a message which has so far not been answered. We tried to contact them by email but they are now playing dead. If you want to have a good time in Ireland, don't rent your car there.
Incredibly poor customer service. Rented a car here three weeks ago, and was helped by Maria. Maria told us our vehicle was in the car wash and would be out in a few minutes, so we waited. After 15 minutes, tried to find her and see where the car was. Another attendant told us to wait a bit longer. After 45 minutes we find out that they had given our car away to someone else and arranged for another vehicle - all well and good. Said they would waive the tollpass charge of EUR25 and fitted the device to the car. Now, three weeks later I've found a toll charge on my credit card, and Alamo is refusing to honour what they said, and being told to speak to the toll company - who in turn is telling me to speak to Alamo. Do better.
We rented a mid size (Peugeot 5008) or similar. As we were travelling with 5 persons, one of whom was wheelchair bound, we called in advance to make sure that the assigned car had enough boot space. We found both Lorena and Jilly to be exceptionally helpful. The airport car-hire at Dublin is always crazy busy. And not just Alamo/Enterprise so be prepared for a wait before you get assistance. On arrival at Dublin Alamo had arranged for our car to be available at the terminal so we did not have to take the shuttle bus to the main location. We proceeded to the car and were met by a very friendly young man who offered to help us load our baggage and to explain how the car worked. The car was perfect, in good condition and clean. We drove for a week around Ireland and had no problems. We arranged to drop the car at the terminal and as we were leaving befor 5am just dropped the keys in the drop box. Unfortunately our daughter left her smartphone in the car and on our return to the netherlands we called and were confimred that it had been found. Luckily we have family close to Dublin and we arranged for the phone to be picked up. This was organised by Lerato, who despite the high pressure was at all timeds friendly and polite on the phone. We found the personnel were polite and friendly at all times. To all of you who complain about extra insurance, costs etc. our advice would be to read the conditions before you get to the desk and decide what you do or do not want. It is normal to have to leave a deposit should you choose not to buy off the own risk of EUR2500, and knowing the irish roads it is probably a good idea to take the tyre and widow insurance too. We don't really write reviews often but felt that we received excellent service and would definitely reccommend Alamo/Enterprise.
We rented a car from the downtown Dublin location and they were very lax but we returned at the airport and they were very strict. You should get full coverage insurance without a deductible! They charged us 250 Euros for a tire we drove all over Ireland with. They said it had a very small bulge but we didn't hit anything. It was probably there when we picked up the car but I didn't get on my hands and knees to check tires. Alamo has a D+ rating with the BBB and others have had a problem with this scam! Luckily, this is the first time it has happened to me!
Book with Alamo and no other rental here in Dublin. Trust me. I booked with Budget and it was the worst experience. No problem there in Alamo. Luxury car for 130 EUR for 10 days. Deposit only 250 EUR. Much better attitude. No waiting.
I rented a car at the Alamo/Enterprise/National desk at Dublin Airport (with Alamo being the rental company I booked with). I had the best experience with Lorna at check in. She was very sweet and instantly made a 5am arrival better after a long day of traveling from the states. I'm so used to having bad experiences at rental car places that I expect the worst (either rude/apathetic employees or ones trying to upsell me everything when I already know what I want and need). But she was nothing but wonderful. I was given a great car (hybrids are a lifesaver with gas/petrol prices in Ireland) and with the help of another employee, Flo, down in the parking garage, I easily found my car. She answered any questions I had and was lovely. Upon return of the car to the offsite location, I was greeted by Erik and Rebecca who were so kind in looking over the car and asking if I had any troubles with it. When I mentioned a sound the car had made and the oil light came on, they were quick to mark the car for a service check. They couldn't have been nicer and they even helped me bring my luggage over to the shuttle van and load it in. I then had a great shuttle ride to the airport with the van driver, Robbie. Thanks to these employees, I will only rent from Alamo/Enterprise/National on my next trip to Dublin (and I've rented from most companies at Dublin airport). I cannot say enough good things about my experiences with the employees. *I rented an "Intermediate SUV; Kia Sportage or similar" and received a Nissan Qashqai. Which was plenty of room for 3 adults with 3 backpacks, 1 under-seat rolling bag, 2 carry-on size suitcases, 1 small duffle bag, and one large rolling duffle bag (although the 3 backpacks were put in the backseat, everything else fit in the trunk).* **I will be posting this review on Dublin Airports Enterprise and National Car Rental pages as well, since the employees work for the group of 3 companies, not just the one rented with**
I travel to Dublin and hire a car every 6-8 weeks. I previously settled on one car rental company following total ripoffs with some others. I was not concentrating when I booked this so nervous arriving at a previously unused company desk in the airport. From start to finish they were flawless, friendly, informative, efficient. When I arrived at the car I was surprised to be met with a young, friendly and very helpful Cian ( often I never saw anyone from the other companies). He offered to help me set up the car, talk me through the controls etc. During the rental I was phoned to see if I was happy with the car and knew where to return it (another first) and on my return Cian was, once again, very friendly and helpful and processed the car quickly. Thank you I will be back.
