Do not rent from this company! Terrible company and customer service department was not helpful in any way. This company scams you into paying way more money for insurance or they put a huge hold on your Credit Card. Paid $700 more than we were supposed to. Customer service was not helpful, exchanged over 20 emails with them over weeks and they ended up doing NOTHING even after being given incorrect information multiple times. Emailed them months before the rental and we were told we did not have to pay any additional holds or fees and that was a big lie! Also, key fob didn't work but they said I should've just paid to change the battery and they would have reimbursed me. Im on vacation and renting a car, why would i need to take care of this?? We paid for upgraded "larger" car for trunk space , instead it was tiny, and got pressured into paying more money for nothing. They do not care about their customers. I wish we went with a different company. This was the worst experience.
My experiences with Europcar were very, very pleasant at both the Pick-up and Drop off; mainly due to the members of staff that attended to me, whose names are Nicolas and Casper respectively. The car was a good one, an Hyundai Tucson with a very good fuel economy and drives Seamlessly.... Needless to say, their shuttle buses are very efficient and they do Pick-ups every 10 minutes at the designated shuttle stations.
From pick up to drop off I was impressed. Lovely young lad help me through the pick hp process at the main hub not the airport. The car was good and clean. Drop of was quick and efficient. The transfers to the main hub were quick and efficient. I will definitely be using you again. Thanks
I landed in Dublin late on a Saturday evening, not having pre booked my car and waited patiently as the staff at the counter attended to many people who did have bookings. Paul was who I landed with, and thank goodness! Paul was not only patient with me not having a booking, he was excited for my trip! Paul sorted out my car, easily and gave me his personal favourite places of Ireland to visit, after seeing my unplanned ways. He spent close to an hour with me and never waited on his enthusiasm for my trip. The car itself was a little trouper and upon returning it after 33 days I was sad to see us parting. I would happily rebook through Paul anytime!
Our experience at the Dublin Airport Europcar office was fine. I was a bit nervous about whether or not my credit card CDW would be enough as the documentation sent with my confirmation indicated they only accepted MC from the US and I had used a Visa. I had verified through my card company that they in fact cover the Republic of Ireland (which I gathered was fairly new) and I had the letter dated within the required time frame. The agent at the counter accepted the letter without any fuss. The only upsell was for roadside assistance which was about $10/day and since we had booked well in advance and got a good price for the rental seemed reasonable. He explained how tolls at pay-by-plate locations would be passed on to my cc with a small fee. The toll charge ended up being $9.68 total. He also verified there would be a 5k hold on my cc (which I knew about from the information sent when I booked the car) and clearly stated the type of fuel and coor of pump handle to use (petrol/green). We had plenty of time to review the car against their listed preexisting damages, check the gas gauge, set the mirrors, etc. before heading out. If there had been anything amiss, there was someone in the garage to assist and we had an email to send concerns to within 24 hours of pickup. We reserved an automatic economy car and received an automatic Toyota Yaris. The car performed well on Motorway, National and Regional roads. I was thankful many times for its smallness. The return process was even easier with the garage attendant going around the car with me and confirming all was in order. I'm glad I read the attachment that came with my confirmation as it helped me be prepared. If you are using your cc CDW coverage for a rental car in Ireland, Europcar wants the letter to be dated within three weeks of pick up. I also knew about the 5k hold and made sure I had the available credit on my card. They literally tell you what to expect and what you need. Read the documentation they send you in advance. Attaching a photo of the car with my husband (at the BallyCotton Cliffs Walk.)
The service was outstanding. Communication by email was good. Giuseppe in particular at the desk was so helpful. Returning the car and getting back to airport was a breeze. The airport shuttle driver was jovial and friendly too, these small things make a difference.
Avoid at all costs. They offer low online fares but force you to buy their ultra expensive insurance. This is not disclosed in the booking. Will not accept third party insurance unless it's from 2 credit card companies and you have a letter from them with ALL material information in it. Horrible experience. Ivan does a dance about renting everything from scooters to helicopters all in an effort to increase your price. Bait and switch. Deceptive. Worst
After a delay due to pushy upgrade and insurance sale we left in an Audi A4, only to find after a few km the car had just a quarter tank of fuel, instead of the full tank it was supposed to have. No answer to phone calls or emails over several days. Hoping they don't demand payment for the fuel they didn't give me when I return the car later today. Update - there were no issues returning the car - staff very helpful and friendly so 3 stars overall I wonder why they don't answer customer services phone or email?
