Update: Went back and spoke to a different staff member explaining my situation and managed to book a car using my debit card after all. Would have been great if this was solved earlier but I'm happy it was resolved in the end. I recently had a very disappointing experience with Enterprise Rent-A-Car due to an unexpected issue with their payment policy. According to their website, customers can pay with a debit card, so I confidently chose that option. However, when I arrived to pick up my rental that I already paid for, I was informed that only credit cards were accepted at that location. This discrepancy between their online information not only ruined my plans for the day but also caused me to miss an important event I had scheduled to attend. I'm now stuck with non-refundable hotel fees, making this not only a waste of time but also a total waste of money. Waiting for a refund, but I can't recommend Enterprise after this experience. If they won't honor the payment options advertised online, they should make this much clearer to customers.
DO NOT RENT FROM ENTERPRISE! When you return your car in perfect condition, they still won't refund your deposit, nor will they attempt to contact you via email notifying or explaining that they're pocketing the money they were supposed to return to you. Best of all, they don't even have an email address listed anywhere to contact them. There's just the phone number, which means anyone visiting from out of the country is screwed. Edit: Then they reply to your negative review asking you to contact them, but like I mentioned above, the contact page DOES NOT provide an email address
I recently rented a car from Enterprise on a day trip to Dublin for business and had a pleasant experience. Right from arriving at the desk in Terminal 2, to dropping the vehicle off at the car rental village the staff were friendly, and the process was hassle free. The car was fairly new, and was clean inside and out, no issues with it at all. Did end up waiting longer than I had expected for the shuttle bus back to the terminal but put this down to my own bad planning! I would hire from Enterprise in Dublin again!
Have used Enterprise now twice in Ireland, and both times have had a great experience from start to finish. The staff were very patient and helpful. They were reassuring as they explained the fees clearly and guided us through the whole process while taking us to the car we hired. Their insurance and deposit process were also simple.
Reserved Opel Astra, but I was given just a few months old VW Golf. The car was very clean and the whole experience was fast and smooth.
It just feels a bit scammy and dishonest. I won't be back. Positives: great car, quick pickup experience. However: The website says the price quoted includes all fees, including the one-way fee. I emailed to confirm. Got a reply saying my quote was the final price. Here in Dublin Airport, they attempt to charge me EUR40 extra for one-way rental. Luckily I kept my email, because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten the fee cancelled. Was told I had a full tank of fuel, so should return it full. Get to the car and it's only 80% full. I'm told they'll make a note of it for return. Turns out they never did. The office in Cork had to take my word for it (which they did, thankfully). Really feels like you have to have to be alert and have your wits about you with them, and I'm just not up for such an experience. So I won't be back.
The counter people at Dublin Airport (Amanda?) was very friendly. Our VW was fine and the check in process was great. I opted not to use the insurance from my Costco credit card (I'd read that attempting to use the credit card insurance caused delays). I actually said, " I want the most comprehensive insurance you offer." We drove across Ireland on the freeway to Galway. Then on the way to the Cliffs of Moher. the clutch pedal went to the floorboard and it was impossible to shift. Eventually, we were towed back to Galway and provided a replacement vehicle. While waiting in the Galway facility, we overheard the staff taking about our VW saying, "yeah, it's another VW with the "slave thing" failure." I'm 72, and my son is 49, at NO time did we race the engine and dump the clutch. My son actually owns a VW cc with a stick. After returning to California, I received an email from Aaron informing us that clutches were not covered and I owed $2600. Later Victoria, sent me an email confirming that she would be our contact person. I asked to see a copy of the mechanic's repair paperwork and NEVER heard back from Victoria or Aaron. My take away, TOURISTS SHOULD NEVER RENT from Enterprise/Alamo in Ireland. This organization preys on TOURISTS who cannot easily protest UNFAIR practices. I assume that this organization has taken its management policies from traveling carnivals. AVOID THIS RENTAL COMPANY,
Rented in Feb 2024. Clean and reliable car. Helpful Ireland driving and return instructions in the car. Coming from abroad, we opted for including express toll sensor in our contract, but somehow there was additional toll charge I need to resolve when I got back in Canada. I'm still giving 5/5 because of how great the service was. I only realized I left my music player in the rental car post security. Over call, the rental agent (Loretta, I believe her name was) proactively suggested I ask if it was possible for an Enterprise staff to run my phone as I wait on the other side. CATSA agent coordinated, and a male Enterprise staff delivered swiftly. I got my device and got to board my flight on time.
