It was very good service here when we returned our rental car.
Had a bad 1st day in Dublin when we got into an accident with a Bus. Anatoly was extremely helpful and the women that was helping us was also wonderful. Made the whole ordeal painless and showed such compassion. Really helped us get through a difficult situation. Thanks you for all the help you provided.
Quick return for a hired car. The staff was very helpful and directed us to the airport shuttle service.
Reception/Lobby is absolutely filthy. Multiple broken chairs and soda spilled on the floor.
Probably the worst car rental experience I've ever had. I will never rent from Avis or Budget again. I've been in line an hour and moved 5 feet. Disorganized, extremely slow, and gross incompetence. They've literally almost taken a half day of my vacation from me.
Italy and Spain have pickpockets, Ireland has Avis Dublin Airport. I leased a vehicle from Avis Dublin Airport in February 2024. The agent at the rental counter told me that that there were several scratches and scrapes on the car, and advised that I take photos. I had no opportunity to go over the car with an Avis agent, as there was nobody in the garage when I located my car. I did take many photos as there were many more scratches and scrapes than what was on the vehicle condition diagram on the rental papers. Upon returning the car, the Avis agent took at least 10 minutes to inspect the vehicle, including rubbing dirt off the car looking for every possible scratch. She did manage to find a few scratches on one of the side mirror housings that I didn't photograph. Avis charged me over $500 for it. This is the same side of the car with other multiple scratches and scrapes, and it is more than likely that the mirror housing scratches were from the same prior incident as the other scrapes. Avis Ireland customer service (should be named "customer aggravation service") refused to give the customer any benefit of the doubt. Here is the thing: If you don't buy their super collision damage insurance, they will look for any reason to bill you for any minor scratches. I tried to work through Avis USA, but they said that Avis Ireland is a franchise and they cannot help. This is not the Avis in North America, it just shares a name. I've been an Avis Preferred member for many years and these mirror housing scratches would fall under usual wear and tear in North America, but not in Ireland. To make matters worse, my credit card insurance company is trying to process the claim, and they have requested an itemized bill (with no transparency at all over what they charged me, everything was lumped into a vague "miscellaneous charge".) But the Avis customer service department has not responded to them for several weeks. So my claim is being held up by Avis Ireland. If anyone in Avis customer service looks at these Google reviews, can you please do your job and send my insurance company an itemized list of charges for my rental? My advice: 1. Stay away from leasing through Avis Ireland. One way or another, you will pay more than the lease charges. Either buy the super collision damage insurance (they make a good profit on that) or be prepared to go through an aggravating process of being charged for any possible scratch. 2. Take a video, not still photos, of the entire car, narrate the location of any imperfection. Be extremely thorough, as what is usually dismissed by rental car companies as wear and tear, will be charged to you. 3. I would insist on an Avis agent inspecting the car with you and updating the vehicle condition diagram before you drive off. Avis Ireland has an obvious interest in not keeping that diagram up to date so that they can accuse unsuspecting customers for undocumented scratches, perhaps many times over. Many other Google reviews have noted exactly the same tactic that Avis Ireland used against me. This is Avis in name only, stay away even if you use Avis in North America.
Dropped a car off this week. A lady came up to us quickly to check the car and complete the handover. She was efficient and polite and the whole process was very easy. The location was easy to find nr Terminal 2, and it was an easy walk across to Terminal 1 for our flight.
I was the only customer at the counter and still I was told I could not be accompanied to the car to check it before I had to sign the agreement that showed the car had no damage at all. When I got to the car there were several points of damage. Scrapes and dents! The Avis guy who was hanging around the parking scoffed when I showed him! "No problem!", he said, "just keep pictures in case they blame you!" The car made a strange scraping noise when I brake. The tank was supposed to be full but showed empty. I tried to call the desk but no response. I wrote to customer services. Got an auto response and then nothing! I was left anxious and very uncomfortable but had business to attend to so could not chase after Avis to try and find help. The WORST customer service I have ever experienced in car hire. What nonsense to say they "try harder." Rent from Easicar. Better cars (by far!) and people who actually look like they enjoy their job. And cheaper. UPDATE: More than a month later and all I got from Avis Customer Services is a standard email to tell me that they really care about their customers and I should get in touch if I have issues. Appalling.
