Made a reservation online, but one week before the pickup date, they called me to tell me the car I reserved wouldn't be available, but that I could upgrade to a different car for $100 more. I let them know that this was unacceptable and they told me there was nothing they could do so I told them to cancel my reservation then as I don't want to do business with a car rental agency that engages in such practices (most other reputable agencies would have offered me that "upgrade" at the same price as the original reservation). I was quite disappointed by the experience as I had heard good things about Easy Way online and expected better from them. However, they then sent me a message on WhatsApp telling me they might have a solution for me and that they would confirm the next day. The next day, they told me they would have a car for me at the same price of the original reservation. Not sure if it was my complaining over the phone or the bad review I initially left them that got them to fix the issue, but to their credit, they honoured the original reservation after all. The car itself had some scratches and dings, but drove well. They also didn't force us to buy insurance or pull any other sketchy tricks on us. It was all above board, just as I had read online about them. Upon return, they did not claim any fake damages either so all in all, a good experience and a reputable car rental agency in Merida!

I reserved a car online the night before, which worked out because when I went the following morning some walk-ins didn't look like they got a car. They didn't have the compact car that I reserved and they confirmed, but the next size was just a couple of bucks more so no big deal. It took 15 minutes to do the paperwork. The return process was fair and took ten. Overall I'm ver pleased with my experience

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Extending the rental period was arranged without a fuzz. The car was fine and rather new. Note that there can be small differences in the online and the in-shop prices. I think the service definitely made up for that.

BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL AGENCY. We booked two reservations with Easy Way MONTHS ago and got an email two days before our trip that one of the vehicles we reserved, and that they confirmed was ready to go in a separate email, was no longer available. We had a mini-van as we are traveling with 7 people. They offered a Kia sedan in exchange. They initially told me it was due to the heavy rains damaging cars in the area. They later told that it was because they rented it to someone else. Be very careful using Easy way and make sure to have a backup plan in case they switch on you last minute like they did with us.

We had a pretty good experience with Easy Way. They were reliable, responsive, and the car was fine. One bummer was that we didn't know we couldn't return the car to the airport (they picked us up from the airport), so we had to change plans for the last day to allow for extra time to return the car and get to the airport.

Appears to be a mom and pop operation. It took over a half hour to get through the paperwork (not computerized) and the up-selling for more insurance was pretty aggressive. My 'new' car had 70,000 km on it. They also placed a whopping $2,300 deposit against the car.

I have rented a Kia Sportage from Easy Way Merida for 10 days. They showed me the car in the morning and it did seem in a pretty good condition. But once I started driving, I had noticed that all of the tires had very low tire pressures (20 when 35 was recommended). Even after putting the air in, one of the tires soon got a very low pressure. I brought the car to a tire shop and they found a volt in the tire shown in the pictures. They did not reimburse me after I fixed their tire and returned the car nor did not even contact me after saying they would give me a call when their "boss" got back to the office. Also one of the low lights wasn't bright at all so we had to avoid going out at night. It was not a pleasant experience even though the trip in Riviera Maya itself was so much fun.

Very poor experience with this company. They dont have an office at the airport, you have to go to the city center office to get a car. I made an online reservation for a vehicle and when I arrived they told me that the vehicle was not available but they would upgrade me to a better vehicle but I would need to pay a higher price. I told them that I would not agree to pay a higher price and that they should honor the price from the online reservation. My online reservation also included full insurance. At the time of completing the rental paperwork, they told me that there were certain things excluded from the full insurance. Basically the full insurance covered the cost of a stolen car, but any damage to the body of the vehicle, the wheels, mirrors, interior, engine, etc. was not covered by the full insurance policy which cost over US$200. So basically the insurance policy did not cover anything. I ultimately decided that I would not rent a vehicle from this company and do not recommend this company to anyone. They seemed more focused on selling you an insurance policy to profit from than renting you a vehicle to enjoy your travels. They probably would have looked for opportunities to charge me extra for any damages not covered by the full insurance policy. Not a trustworthy business and I dont recommend this company.

We drove down and dropped in Cancun, the team down there was also nice and helped us get to our next destination. Do not use this rental car company. We paid $800 USD for an SUV for 6 days and got a banged up Renault Duster that was barely big enough for four people and some luggage. The vehicle also had a loud rattle in the dash. We had agreed on a price in USD and they try to trick you into using pesos at there higher than actual exchange rate.

We had a terrible pick up experience in Merida. We booked to collect the car at 2pm and reconfirmed in the morning. Our bus was slightly late but I let them know we d arrive at 220pm. When we arrived we found the office shut and no longer operating properly because the road is being pedestrianised. Just as we arrived we then got an email to explain this and tell us to wait. Why didn t they tell us in advance or make sure they were there when we arrived? We waited in the hot and dusty street for 20 minutes until someone arrived. He then was so slow doing the paperwork. But the price quoted was a SCAM - they quote is USD but then charge you on arrival in MXN at a rate of 19 (rather than 16.7) and so the price increases by 14% above the price I thought I d pay. Having then agreed the price with me, he then started to write over it and add another 40 peso for some reason. I queried this and he changed it back again. Then we came to get the car! We had heavy luggage and whilst he offered to drive the car to the end of the street, he said we would only have 2 minutes to check it over because there was no parking allowed. We refused, so walked 4 blocks with our luggage to get the car. He did not help carry any of our luggage despite my wife having both a large and small bag. The car was so badly dented I m relieved we did this so we had time to get it all marked on the paperwork. The only good thing was the tyres were all fairly new which was some comfort. We lost all trust in the company following this experience. However when we returned the car in Cancun it was like a different company, they were friendly and super efficient transferring us to the airport and cancelling the deposit with little fuss. So whilst I d recommend Cancun I would say steer clear of Merida and watch out for the exchange rate scam.

As many seem to use online reviews to vent negative experiences with renting cars and driving in Mexico, I thought it would be nice to share good experiences I had with Easy Way rental car. Before moving to the area, I rented cars several times from both Easy Ways office in Merida and Cancun. I made the reservations online - all the fees and various insurance options are clearly shown in US dollars and they were always quick to reply to emails. I used my credit card for the CDW/LDW without problem (many companies will not allow you to do this, instead requiring you to purchase their insurance, that often comes with a deductible) Their office is conveniently located in Centro and each time the process to get the car took about 20 minutes of paperwork and then going over any pre-existing damage, showing me the spare tire and jack, and that the car had 1/2 tank of gas and to return with the same amount. The only hitch was once they didnt have the exact car I reserved but gave me something similar that was actually a little less expensive. Had no issues with the cars, diving all over the Yucatan Peninsula Returning the car was quick and easy Overall, a very positive experience and I would certainly recommend Easy Way to anyone looking for a car rental while in Yucatan

The reservation was initially made through their website and everything was super good, very agile! Then I contacted WhatsApp to verify that everything was fine and I had excellent treatment from Mr. Tomas. I recommend that you carefully review what you need and where you need to pick up and leave the vehicle. This in order to see what best suits them and also the budget for the trip. In my case, I rented in Merida Yucatan and to pick up at the office, not at the airport. In general, the treatment in Mr. Ricardos office was very friendly and he recommended and advised me on everything, for which I thank him very much. They gave me a Kia Rio in good condition and with Full Cover. I advise you to use the AMEX Credit Card since they have an agreement with this and I did not have to leave a deposit. But its still better to consult at the time. I know that it is difficult to find a good rent a car, in my case I would rent with them again and the treatment was very good. Thank you so much

Me brindaron un Kia Rio en buenas condiciones y con el Full Cover. Les aconsejo utilizar la Tarjeta de Credito AMEX ya que con esta tienen un convenio y no tuve que dejar deposito. Wow. Tomas customer service is unrivalled. What a genuinely kind, caring, and friendly man. He had picked us up from the airport holding up a sign with my name, and proceeded to drive us to the office in town. Along the way, he talked to us about all the fun places to explore, food recommendations, and some local history. When we got to the office, the car and contract were already waiting. Everything that was stated online was what the contract stated in person. The best part? No hidden fees! I opted to get the premium insurance, so for 12 days the car rental cost me $400 USD total. They also held a 300$ deposit which is completely standard practice. Tomas took the time to explain everything in detail, even going as far as providing us his personal number in case of any issues. When we went to inspect the car, he actually used a light to see any existing damage and spent the time explaining to us everything in the car. People like Tomas are seldomly found, where not only are they a good businessman, they are also genuinely a kind human. I would highly recommend easy way rent a car, especially if you want a painless rental experience!

However, for those looking to rent a car for just one day, I cannot recommend it in good conscience. The main drawback is the lack of full insurance coverage for one-day rentals and the pre-authorization of US$2000, a measure that seems excessive to me. However, after three days of rental, the insurance coverage becomes complete and the pre-authorized amount is reduced to one third. Another concern is related to exchange rates: I advise you to negotiate the rate and insist on paying in Mexican pesos. The agency tends to apply a 10-12% markup on transactions made in US dollars, in addition to any fees your bank might charge for withdrawing that currency. As a result, the actual cost of your rental may be much higher than the displayed price. So be careful and make sure you understand all the financial details before renting with this company.

We pre-booked a car and when we arrived to pick it up we had to wait 30 mins before being attended to. Extremely slow service whilst some other Westerners were being attended to (who were actually just booking for later whilst we wanted our car at that point to get the most out of the day). They were being served by 3 workers as well. After our long wait we were told to pay a deposit of 40,000 MXN ($2373) which our credit card doesn t allow. We have rented cars many times before but never had such a expensive deposit like this. Wish we were at least warned about this online beforehand. In the end we went across the road to rent a car - this was a much smoother process and was flexible with deposit options - we got a car within 15 mins. Absolute joke with this company being called easy !
