Spent 3 nights here. Perfect place for peace and quiet but within easy reach of areas of interest. Cottage clean and comfortable, Mike and Paul perfect hosts.
Located on one of the many hill sides near the town of Cehegin the two hosts running this property created a true gem, a place of silence, beauty and total tranquility.||Divided over 3 cottages in different size, yet similar style, there's enough to chose from.||||The top cottage, so called Rosemary Cottage - obvious with all the wild rosemary bushes around, smallest of all, is a snug split levels place with all necessary amenities, terraces right next to the cottage as well on top of the hill with the beautiful views that never stop you wonder how divers nature can be.||It does take a rural path with steps to reach the top cottage, but then: the reward you get is worthwhile all efforts!||||The middle cottage, Grapevine Cottage, is a very spacious place, sufficient to accomodate a family with 2 children who will love the hidden corners and cute windows overlooking the plot. With two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen as well as enough private outside space there is something for everyone, no matter what age or interest.||||The bottom cottage, Olive Tree Cottage, is a lovely, cosy and very comfortable place with a large private garden with al fresco dining corner and seperate bench - 2 chairs and coffee table under a hughe red pepper tree, overlooking lovely cactuses in different seizes and shapes.||||All cottages have a small bbq and enough outdoor lighting for those long Summer nights, not to disturb the star gazers......||What struck us most was the absolute deep silence, 24/7: only birds and insects may break it, as well as an occasional dog barking in the distance or sheep passing by in the meadows in the valley further down.||What a treat to sit and gaze at the never boring - always changing play of sun and shade over the nearby hills and mountains in the distance.||||Beds and bedding are perfect, guaranteed to give you a good nights' sleep, towels in all sizes, a washing machine and a television as well as the well equipped kitchen, and gas- and electric heaters for those chilly moments, equal in all three cottages.||||The hosts will do anything to make you feel at home, advice you where to eat in town or what trip to make but if you wish so: your privacy is honoured. You can count on them.||||Would absolutely recommend the Hibiscus Retreat and would gladly stay there again for a treat for body, mind and soul!
Hibiscus retreat was exceptional. The location was breath taking. The cottages were immaculate and beautifully kept and supplied everything you could ever need for a self catering cottage. There was plenty of space for 2+ people, the individual gardens and terrace come equipped with garden table and chairs, sun loungers and also a garden sofa with chairs. The individual hot tubs made a nice personal touch. The grounds and gardens were impeccable. And the service was friendly and welcoming. There was an abundance of wildlife to observe at the retreat, including eagles, kestrels, and hoopoes. Everything was pristine and new and we had no faults at all throughout the entirety on our stay. The communication from initially booking right up until we left was outstanding. Being only 5 minutes away from the town centre made it extremely ideal for picking up any groceries, eating out in the evenings and seeing the sights. We will most definitely be back and plan to make this a yearly visit!
I recently visited this lovely retreat with my husband and 2 teenage daughters. The cottage accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. The cottage was well equiped for all our family needs on a self catering holiday. We had are own private patio area with seating to relax and to dine. The hot tub was a fantastic added extra. Cehegin is a beautiful part of Spain and there are some brillant towns close by to visit. In Cehegin the local resteraunts are friendly and the food was delicious. The local Mercadona is 5 minutes away where you can buy all you need. The links on Hibiscus retreat for directions and places to visit are excellent. You really get to see and experience Spanish life away from the more built up tourist areas. The atmosphere is very relaxed and is a perfect place to unwind and re-charge your battery. A car in necessary for your visit. Caravaca de la Cruz is only a short 10 minute drive away and is one of the only four Holy Cities in the world. The owners are warm and welcoming and want you to relax and enjoy your stay. I highly recommend this retreat to relax and experience true spanish life.
I stumbled upon Hibiscus when visiting a friend. Absolutely loved it! The guys are really friendly and welcoming and are putting a lot of love and TLC into Hibiscus. Newly restored and full of character, each room is unique. It is in a fabulous setting with eagles soaring overhead on the day I visited. It is definitely one for me later in the year when needing a getaway and one I'm likely to return to year after year.
We stayed in Rosemary Cottage for a long weekend at Easter. We arrived in the evening to the cottage, so we didn't see any of the views until the following day but we did have a quick soak in the Jaquzzi while looking at the stars, it's a very romantic little place. In the light of Day the views around our cottage are beautiful, the garden to the cottage is nice and secluded with a seating area so you can see the forest in the distance. The cottage was lovely too, with a gorgeous traditional tiled roof, terracotta tiles, very traditional and rustic. Loved the bedroom! I like total darkness and silence both of which the room had. The cottage has an inside dining area, tv snug and then generous outdoor dining space. Really enjoyed our stay and would reccomed for people looking for a nice quiet break. We also went into the local town, saw the fantastic specitcle that was the Easter festival. Nice bars and restaurants, so there is somewhere to go if you fancy a more living time, but I liked the quiet and the hot tub!
Spent a week in Olive Tree Cottage. Very welcoming hosts. Property recently renovated so spotlessly clean and new. Plenty of space for 2 people, or 4 if using the sofa bed. Outside is a huge garden/terrace area with a hot tub, table and chairs and garden sofa and chairs. Very pretty to sit out at night with the solar lights twinkling in the trees etc. Very peaceful and rural area, you will need a car to get around. Short drive to good supermarket in Cehegin. Nearby towns nice for wandering and meals out. A stay here feels like you are in 'real' Spain. Recommended.
