I will NEVER rent from Sixt again. The price you pay online is not the actual price. When I booked I paid about $200 thinking I was getting a great deal and when I arrived they told me I had to pay an additional $1200 for insurance, fees, and tolls. They made it sound like it was mandatory and I didn't have a choice but to pay. Plus, the car seats were stained and there was no way to get the GPS on screen on the dash. This company is predatory. If the cheap price sounds too good to be true, it is!! This is the second awful experience I've had with Sixt in a different country. The staff were nice and friendly upon return, at least.

It's okay as a rental place... Be prepared for an hour to get your car and half an hour to go back to the airport. They're super slow but not particularly busy.. Asked the guy if this was normal and yeah, they're slow, it's just how they operate. You have to take a shuttle from the airport, they're decently close though. Free waters while you're baking in the heat and humidity waiting outside at least (you cannot wait inside until you're haggling coverage) (which is also lengthy)

After I made my reservation, many people said that I should not have used that company. They proceeded to tell me stories, some pretty bad. But I figured I would try them anyway. I just returned the car, and everything was fine, with no issues. They even had the shuttle right there. The staff was great; Isa explained everything perfectly. My only concern was the waiting area. It took 30-45 minutes to get my car, and all they had was a waiting area outside, and it was pretty hot. Other than that, I was happy with the service and the car. Every other rental car was $ 250 plus. I got out of there under $ 150 for the same time and car.

I do not recommend using this car rental in Puerto Rico. When you arrive, you will get pushed more than usual for add-ons; there were two different insurances that we needed according to them, tolling fees, etc that were not listed at the time of the listing. We ended up paying double of what we originally booked the car for. Then, we get the car, and it is not in great condition. There are scratches all of the outside of the car; the inside has stains on the seats and roof, and the the trunk of our car had holes covered in duct tape. We took the car, wasn't too big of a deal, it's aesthetics and the car was functioning, so its not ideal, but not a deal breaker either. Our biggest issue came when returning our vehicle. The associate, Leylani, started going through everything inch of the car, and within a few minutes, saw a small scratch in the inside of the windshield. It was baffling they found this small scratch that no one could see if it wasn't directly pointed out, but not the other holes in the trunk or scratches every where else and wanted to charge us $1,000 for a new windshield... for a small, barely noticeable SCRATCH (that I highly doubt my group made). When we contested the damage, the associate said she will speak to her manager, came back and said they removed the charge and to sign for the return. We asked her directly if we will be charged for any damages before signing, multiple times at this point, and she reassured us that there is not going to be any charges. We signed, and were waiting for the shuttle to the airport when we saw the $1,000 charge hit our card. We went straight to the manager, who very apparently was never asked about if the scratch should have been removed as she was unaware of what we were talking about and asked to see it. The employee then continued to defend her point in charging us, and after a few minutes of arguing with them, sarcastically said sorry and walked away. Only at that point, they removed the charge. My question is if we were not at the facility when that charge came through, I know by the deceit and lies spoken directly to us that we would have never been able to get them to remove the charge. This location has a dishonest employee, who lied to us, after being asked directly, and a manager who is either in on the scam or doesn't care. I will never return here again due to our experience, this was a fraudulent charge and I hope that some innocent person doesn't get caught in this scam of a car rental facility. Please be cautious and make sure everything in documented well with this place, as the cars are in rough condition.

Not for people with kids wanting car seats. I visited this location having made a reservation. Upon arrival there was a practically full waiting area in 90 degree weather. Then after confirming that I am getting car seats my car pulled up about 45 min later without any seats. I went back in and asked for seats to be told that they have to go look for em. They dug up a bunch of different seats; moldy, dusty, smelly, and missing parts like straps. That'll teach me to rent car seats. Eventually we got two seats but the straps were next to unusable in terms of adjusting and it was a lot of fighting to get the seats in. I sit down in my car and I immediately get a maintenance light saying hey you need an oil change. The engine rattled in the car but it did make it to my destination and back. The staff was very friendly. The shuttle back was very difficult to get, took over 40 minutes to arrive for what was a 7 minute drive to the airport. Got us there safely.

I had a great experience with Sixt customer service was awesome. They didn't had the car I wanted but I still got what a needed at the end a full size SuV . Girl that took care of me she was polite and easy to speak with. Just come prepared so you can make you life and service rep life easier and be on your way .. they got their options for insurance but if you not using their insurance just make sure you brings yours in writing and that it sayd it cover in Puerto Rico .. also check out process was also easy just drop off made sure I took a bit of time and clean the car before drop off and vacuum. And had a video of car or any damage before leaving the lot .. so I can't sayd I was not pleased .. I'm glad with the service i received for my trip ..

I had a great experience with Sixt San Juan. They do require you to buy an insurance which is required in PR I believe was like $16 extra per day. They gave me a free upgrade which I appreciated. Sury was great and very helpful . I would totally rent again from Sixt.

Before anything, I want to state that the staff was very pleasant and professional. The vehicle, however, was a complete disappointment. It was, in fact, unsafe. We were given a vehicle that had a broken strut, damage to the front, damage to the side, damage to the back, and dirty inside. The vehicle actually had garbage and an air freshener from the previous occupants. We returned the vehicle due to its condition.

I recently rented from SIXT in San Juan for the first time. Unfortunately, while my car was prepaid, I had a delay with my flight (no fault of SIXT) and my vehicle was not available when I arrived for pick up. I arrived very late with my child and the gentlemen at the counter was not very helpful. He proceeded to advise me that my rental had expired and he could only offer me a standard sedan (I had paid for a large SUV). I explained that it wouldnt work and he instead offered me an upgrade to a luxury SUV for a daily fee of $14. I had no choice but to accept but when the documents were printed and paid for, the daily amount was $20. When I confronted him about it, he stated it was an average with a smirk on his face. A few days later I received an email from the manager. I explained my situation and to my surprise, he not only responded immediately but also refunded the upgrade and confirmed it was charged in error. This was my first time renting from anyone but Hertz on the island. However, I was impressed with the customer service with SIXT and will definitely return. Thank you!

I reserved a vehicle at this location but, like the other reviews said, they are very slow in processing the cars. We waited for more than 45 mins at 3 AM in the morning after reaching the location and finally left for another car rental agency which was much more professional and quick. They only allow one person into the office at a time and spend a lot of time trying to sell additional coverages to increase the final price of the rental. Not a smooth experience.

Don t trust them!! They charged us a $150 to vacuum sand out of the car. It is dry and does not require anything more than a vacuum. Ridiculous!! We were a repeat customer but now never again.

Made a reservation for an intermediate SUV. Although the lot had quite a few cars, I was told that they did not have my vehicle. The manager sent me to Advantage Car Rental where they wanted to charge another $180. I returned to the Sixth Rental car location but the manager was not willing to give me any of the cars on the lot. Long story short, horrible experience. I will not rent from this location again.

I called to extend my vehicle rental, since my Grandmother is confined in the hospital with a very complicated and dangerous condition. First and last time using this company! Be ready to wait over 2 hours pass the reservation time in their outside waiting area only for them to say they don t have the car reserved available. Once they find a replacement, then they proceed to explain all the extra charges and fees that are NOT mentioned anywhere in the reservation. Also, be ready to accept the ridiculous tolls fees when signing the contract. I was told I could call later to add the tolls service. Didn t matter, they charge from the first to last day anyways. My reservation was a month ago and now they decided to charge my card for the tolls with no warning or explanation of the amount being charged. Don t even bother calling customer service, you won t get a hold of anybody. I emailed customer service and did get a response that way but again, it doesn t matter what s discussed, I was supposed to know I was going to be charged even though I was not told when I called to add the service, nor when I turned in the car or at any point between returning the car and them charging my card a month later.

Ill start by saying the airport pickup/transfer and the vehicle drop off process were both smooth and efficient. Made renting off site from the airport less of an inconvenience. As to the actual rental, we did have some problems. Mainly, we booked a BMW X5 (full size SUV) and were forced into a BMW 3 series (compact car). There was an X5 on the lot when we arrived. The associate at the counter told us that this vehicle was the managers personal car that just happened to be parked in the rental pool. We asked for another similar full-size SUV, like the Infiniti QX50 or 60, or a Tahoe, or a Jeep - which were also on the lot when we arrived. I was told these other SUVS were rentals pre-booked for other people. I also pre-booked an SUV but for some reason that did not matter. The associate assisting us insisted that the compact 3 series was the same thing as a full-size SUV, which it clearly and obviously is not, even according to their ACRISS coding. Offered no alternative, and already being away from the airport with no other rental options, I gave up and accepted the compact car. The biggest issue arose when as we were waiting for our car to be cleaned, a person who was clearly a customer came in (45 minutes after we arrived) and rented the same X5 that the associate claimed was the managers personal car. The person had luggage he loaded into the SUV, and did a walk around taking pictures of existing damage. Quite clearly a customer, and not the manager. We were blatantly misled and the associate lied to our faces, which is completely unacceptable and bad business practices. Beyond that egregious misconduct, we were also charged an additional driver fee despite holding platinum status which allows for a spouse to be a free additional driver. When asked about this, the associates response was we dont do that in Puerto Rico, which I have not been able to find any mention of exclusions for Puerto Rico in the terms and conditions. I also declined all additional insurances, which I always do since both our credit card and personal insurance carry above the minimum requirement for 3rd party coverage. The associate had difficulty accepting this and I had to tell him I did not want the coverage seven times before he moved on. Once or twice is understandable, but having to repeat myself more than a half dozen times was excessive. Despite declining additional coverages, I noticed the associate marked that I accepted emergency roadside assistance which carried a nominal daily fee. It isnt the additional fee that bothers me, its that I had repeatedly stated we did not want any additional coverage and he still added this. Ultimately, the rental felt like a bait and switch scam. Low upfront pricing quoted, then once I was off site of the airport I was forced into a lesser vehicle and given an overly aggressive hard sell on insurances I did not at all require. I have rented with Sixt domestically and internationally prior to this, and never had an experience anything like this one. Im hoping it was an anomaly, because there are many things I love about Sixt and would like to remain a customer, but this experience was very off putting. I followed up with customer service once we got home to let them know of the issues we had. They responded promptly and refunded the charges for the additional driver and the extra insurance. I ll likely rent with Sixt again, but not this location.

Actual rental price seemed almost too good to be true and it was. They pretty much force you into buying insurance and the fee for going on a toll road is outrageously insane. We will rent again from them. We got a new Compact SUV with no issues other renters have. There is room for improvement, such as answering the phones for pickup, but never did. The male bathroom was disgusting. The cost of the EZ-Pass at $8.00 per day is outrageous; there is no way renters will use $8.00 every day on tolls. They make money off it. They tried to tackle a fee of $29.95 for road assistance, which we did not want. We always take car insurance proof.
