I've rented from Sixt Santander, got a little issue with the car and they suggested me to go to Sixt Abando because it was the nearest office for me. Aitor and Borja helped me and they even gave an upgrade!! Really helpful guys. Eskerrik Asko Aitor&Borja!
My experience with SIXT was mixt. At pick-up in Bilbao the clerk of course tried several times to upsell me on various insurances, sighed and shook his head in disappointment when I declined, there's probably corporate training on the whole technique. I noted incorrect email on rental screen, so clerk entered my 'corrected' email, but he entered it wrong. Apparently drop-off instructions were sent to incorrect email, so I spent 1.5 hours driving around A Coruna at the end of the rental period, trying to get to drop-off location listed on rental information. Several calls to SIXT, finally transferred to A Coruna rental person, very difficult to hear as she had me on speakerphone and would not spell out revised drop-off location, her 'p's' sounding like 'c's' and speaking very fast. Finally dropped off car, called SIXT again to detail the stress and confusion, woman corrected my email to send invoice but very unapologetic with regards to poor communication from SIXT.
You never (4 times in a row) get the car you booked and have to pay supplements. Terrible customer experience with Josu G. the 2 last bookings. After years of loyalty, I'm leaving Sixt
Be warned! I received a defective car, with failing clutch, and even though I returned the car within 2 KM of driving, Sixt is blaming me for the damage. The car started smoking and ENDANGERED my family. They DO NOT check the cars adequately between drivers and then blame the harm on latest driver. I saw them rent a car that had just been returned, without a full inspection. They claimed I signed agreement noting no damages. However, this defective clutch was only notable AFTER driving it. I have been driving manual cars for 40+ years and did not cause this damage. The company has been DEAF to my pointing out the safety issues with their processes and just keep sending form letters. While this office was polite, their processes are lacking and they have no demonstrated interest in quality improvement or SAFETY!

Had a very good experience renting from this Sixt location. Very friendly and helpful staff, easy process to pick up and return the car. Car was very new and in great condition. Easy to return the car out of hours as well with a key drop right outside the Sixt office. Highly recommend this location for car hire in Bilbao.
