I had an unpleasant experience with Virtuo. On the booking they indicated that any additional km over the daily limit would be charged at 0.12e. In the end I was overcharged by 0.35e per km and they refused to refund the difference. Apparently, you can increase the number of kms anytime before you end the rental and the rate is 0.12e per km. However, if you end the rental without doing that first you are being charged 0.35e per km. This is frankly ridiculous, there's no additional loss or expense of Virtuo that would warrant a triple charge (km check is done electronically) and this is simply a money grab on unsuspecting customers. Of course they are not forthcoming about this charge during the booking process - I would've simply adjusted the kms before ending the rental if I knew. I contacted the customer service but they don't really care how scammy that is. To sum up, avoid Virtuo like a plague.
I rented a Peugeot 2006 for 5 days and was overall quite pleased with the experience. Everything is online and a wee bit impersonal, but the site and app are quite easy to understand. Note to download your virtual key outside of the parking garage (where there is little to no phone coverage). It took a bit of searching to find the car and then it took time to make the damage report (the car had several scratches which I took photographs of), difficult to do in a dark garage with cars close to each other. Because of this, I missed the fact that the boot was completely covered with white dog hairs. Being used to driving older models, I was a bit befuddled by the modern features of this car: no hand brake, but a button to push; the electronic car key; frustration with the AC system, which seemed to have no intermediate stand between a cool whisper and an arctic windblast. Eventually I figured out how to set up my own profile and to use the navigation system (though I had brought my own GPS and would use both at the same time). After a few days of fiddling I could gloriously blast my own music through the speakers. I drove to France and back over the Pyrenees mountains with great confort and no problems. The reverse-drive camera features are amazing on this vehicle, seldom has backing up and parking been made so easy! Before returning the car I vacuumed out most of the white dog hair in the boot and ran the car through a car wash. I had ordered (and paid) for too many kilometers, I should have ordered less as I saw there is an option to add them as necessary in the app as needed. I don't think Virtuo is going to be reimbursing me for the km I didn't use. After returning the car to the parking garage I wiped my own profile and started the checking out process, which includes making pictures of the car and asking where it is parked. Everything is well explained in the app and mostly intuitive. Then the car locked itself and I left the parking garage. A few days later I received a message that the car had been checked and that there was no damages noted, and I received the 400 euros deposit back on my credit card. All in all, I was pleased with this rental and would definitely consider using Virtuo again.
Worst expirence I ever had with car rental, they forgot to bring my car in airport so I had to wait over 1 hour, costumer service team was not responding all that time, I had to take taxi to reach the place, garage where closed and nobody let us out from Garage, you can't adjust your booking at all, there is pretty much no one who can help you with the issues of their fault
They raised the deposit costs insanely. Now it's 600 euro for the smallest car. Doesn't make sense for us to use their service anymore. Edit: the 600 euro deposit is the same for 4 days or even for a single day rental...
Overall the rental was great! The car was in perfect condition and the app worked very well. My only issue was the return location was not correct on the app. I went to the parking lot they directed me to - or at least I followed the directions - and I was charged an incorrect parking fee. The directions on the app both for pick-up and drop-off need to be more clear if possible. But like I said, overall the rental was great. I am just disappointed by being charged 90 euros for parking incorrectly even though I followed the directions.
Self-check-in early in the morning and check-out late in the night were very smooth, no issues during rental. Good clean car. The best experience!
Booking was easy. Car pickup was almost easy - it was bit difficult to understand where parking facilities (especially find the entrance) are. Initial damage checking took time. as list was long and in dark parking hall it was not easy. Although it is straightforward process, and no hidden loops like with old school car rentals almost every time. :) And it took much less time all in all. Car was like promised. Door opening with phone was sometimes a bit annoying and I did not understand how to use key card after you transfer digital key from phone to the card. Pricing is good, you get what you order no tricking by rental clerks etc. One thing is a spam. If you are doing anything with your order or account, you get e-mails. Sometimes several emails about same thing. I am quite sure I will use them again.
The easiest and most amazing car rental service I've ever used! Everything went perfect and the cars are great, the app works perfectly and they are located in all key areas around the city, in nice parkings. Super smooth and totally recommendable.
