I tried to rent a car from Sixt for the first time. They didn't give me the car, they said there was a problem with the documents. They only refunded me 5% of the total amount. The system needs to be improved and made easier, not just improved. Very bad experience, never again!
Scammy ass business with scammy business practices. One of the only bad experiences we had in Barcelona! On the app it was about 70EUR per day, in person the employee tried to sell us the most unreasonable things and added stuff which we could not reject and made it way more than just 70EUR in the end. Lots of hidden fees which were intransparent and tourist unfriendly. We didn't have much time to begin with so we tried to get through the whole process as fast as possible. We only wanted to rent a car so we could get to our destination swiftly. Ultimately, getting to the car alone took longer than just taking the bus. In the end we paid more than double of the price we expected to pay. Never again and wouldn't recommend Sixt to anyone if you're looking to rent a car!
I've been working with Sixt for a while now and have generally had a good experience. Their service is professional, and the cars are well-maintained. However, I've faced an issue several times where the car I booked wasn't available when I arrived to pick it up. While they do offer me an alternative vehicle, it can be frustrating when I'm expecting a specific model. I hope they can improve this aspect of their service as everything else has been great.
Ana was amazing. She made the exchange so easy and fun. The car and process was perfect, I will definitely be using Sixt again on my next trip.
Like others have described, we had a completely bogus damage report, and they kept our deposit. I had read about their shady practices in advance, so I have a full video of the vehicle before, and after showing no new damage. I would recommend not renting with them. They will clearly keep your deposit if you do not pay for their damage waiver and use your credit cards policy. Update: after reviewing my videos they were forced to admit there was no new damage and returned the deposit. Remains a 1 star review as without video evidence they would have gotten away with fraud.
I booked a BMW X1 and was a little disappointed to get an Audi Q3 because it has a slightly smaller cargo area and I had to do some creative packing to fix three suitcases in the back. It would be appreciated if I was notified ahead of time rather than being surprised by this on the day I arrived to pick the car up. The car was practically brand new however so thats why I gave this 4 stars. Aside from getting a different car the whole booking, picking up and return experience was very seamless, the staff were friendly and helpful too. I would definitely recommend this place to travellers and would go back again when visiting Barcelona
This is meant to be a response to their survey, but since the survey always conveniently showed "Oops, the survey is temporarily unavailable" after I hit the "submit" button, I'm posting it here. Vehicle condition: When we got the vehicle, there was a list of 28 body damages in the rental agreement. We were in a hurry and didn't check on them (to be honest, I don't know if anyone can check on all of them). I never had a rental vehicle in such poor condition. Vehicle maintenance: On the third day of our rental, the AdBlue additive ran out, and the engine refused to start. The road assistance was okay, but it still took three hours before we could go back on the road. A refund of $50 was issued after my complaint, but I don't think it is enough to compensate for the wasted time and the anxiety we experienced not knowing whether we could continue our trip. Return: No one was in the parking lot when I returned the vehicle. No sign indicated where the car should be parked, so I had to go into the office to ask. The lady in the office was nice, but no inspection was done before we left for the airport terminal. Although I don't recall hitting anything during our trip, I later received a report of new body damage and a $300 bill. Based on these experiences, I cannot recommend Sixt to anyone and will try to avoid its services in the future.
Such great service, very nice staff. I had rented a Mini Cooper cabriolet, for me and a friend to have a cruise in the mountains. When we arrived they offered us an upgrade to a BMW 4 series Cabriolet. For next to no extra cost. The return of the car was also super easy, we just left the keys at their desk and walked away. I will definitely be coming back to SIXT to rent a car!
