We rented a car for 4 days in September. A very nice girl, Adreea, served us. She quickly found the right option. She drove the car from the office parking lot especially for us. The downside is the price for child boosters. 40 euros for one, it looked bad.
Best and most accommodating staff I have experienced at any rental car service provider. I had a very volatile schedule and unable to drive manual, they made sure I would have a vehicle for the days I needed an automatic car.
I had a terrible experience with Europcar Barcelona today. I had a valid reservation and showed up with my temporary driver's license validation document, which I had just used to rent a car in Lisbon with SIXT without any issues. However, Europcar rudely refused to accept it, claiming, "This is Spain, not Portugal," and said I couldn't drive with that document. This is completely false--EU driving regulations are the same across member states! To make things worse, I asked if they could change the reservation to my wife's name, and they refused, saying they couldn't help since I booked through Expedia. I called Expedia, and they tried to resolve it, but Europcar's customer service still wouldn't cooperate. I even tried calling Europcar directly, and they never answered. I lost my reservation and was left stranded, incredibly frustrated with the unprofessional and unhelpful staff. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend Europcar to anyone.
Well it's been 16 days since I first sent them a text about why they didn't issue the $100 refund they promised me if I returned the vehicle with a full tank of diesel. I have sent them 10 texts about why they haven't issued me that money as of yet, (10/6/2024) So I called Chase bank and explained to them what had occurred and they issued me the $100 on my credit card. Since then I have seen many complaints on the web pages about how awful this CO. Is about things such as mine and many more so I would advise anybody looking to lease a car from them "DONT DO IT"
Make sure to check your credit card statement for mysterious overcharges versus the contract that you sign. I needed to go through three rounds of back and forth until they finally reduced my bill to the price I agreed to pay upon booking. Unfortunately this seems to be a common problem in Spain.
Andrea helped us with a new choice of car more suited to our needs, I am very happy with the customer service provided at the Barcelona Gan Via centre. I had chosen the wrong vehicle for our journey and the change was seamless to get what we needed for a safe and confortable journey to Fance and back. Great service !
I went to pick up a car that was booked in my name and had been booked several weeks earlier, so they had my name and contact details for a long time. Upon arrival they took the usual documents from me, driving license etc. then after a few minutes the rep suddenly says "I can't rent the car to you!". I ask why not and she says "I don't know". Maybe I can call customer service but she's pretty sure they don't open till Monday (this was on a Saturday and indeed no customer service was available). Then with no further words she reached past me and gestured to the next person in the queue to come forward. I asked if we could move it to my wife or do a new rental under my wife's name and she just said "no, there are no cars available" in a very rude tone. She then proceeded to attend to the next person. I pointed out the one we were going to pick up has now become available, surely" and once again I got this "No". Customer service teams in car rental places are notoriously rude but this woman must have passed every company objective to ignore a customer's issue. Europcar should have declined the original hire request so we could have booked with someone else. It cost us nearly twice as much on that day and we only got a smaller car. How do you explain allowing a customer to bill with you and then "discover" you are unable to rent it to them only on the day itself? Terrible service. We should be compensated.
We had a very pleasant experience with this company. Car was provided as requested by us and renting process went smooth. Recommended.
