I rented a car with Drivilia through DoYouSpain, personally my experience was great! Our car was super cute, no damaged and clean! The tank was full so we gave it back with the full tank again. After reading the comments I was nervous, so I tried to make sure that we handed over the car before the actually hour. They close the store at 6pm sharp, so make sure to be on time to leave the car. You have the option to leave the kar keys in the box at the garage, so after doing that you can send pictures of the car in the parking, and you leaving the car keys in the box etc. Maybe the parking ticket to prove that you left it on time. And everything should be fine! I give 4 points because I believe blocking 1000EUR as deposit is a bit too high, but they unblocked it in less than 10 days, so that was also smooth and great! I recommend Drivilia for your trip :)
I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews. It was the best experience I ever had with a car rental. I booked the car through a German page for car rental (billiger mietwagen). When I came to the office, Milena (the woman who works there) was super friendly and welcoming . She didn't try to convince me to buy extra insurances or anything like that and explained me everything. The whole procedure of renting is very easy and comfortable. And they are really cheap. I booked for 6 days and spontaneously decided to extend the rental for one more day. I called milena and it was just 20EUR extra. The car (an suv with manual transmission) was very comfortable. It had a dent on the side on the door, but they told you before and I don't know why this should be a problem. Also returning the car was very comfortable and they give you 1 hour tolerance so you get no problems when you are stuck in traffic. As most car rentals they accept only credit cards and not a debit card. There are combi cards (debit and credit card) that also work. But better ask your bank before and speak to Drivalia if they accept it. I will definitely go to Drivalia again when I am next time in barcelona!
Worst possible experience ever! We rented the car through the Do you Spain website. The pick up of the car was ok, no major issue there. It was on the return of the car, when we had a nightmare of an experience. They told us we had complimentary minutes after the return time on the contract (this is also specified on the contract), and told us to park the car at the parking lot where we picked it up. We followed the process, parked the car and went to the Drivalia office to return the keys, only to realize the office was closed! Apparently, they close on Sundays at 2pm and our drop off was at 3. The office was completely closed, so we started calling the Drivalia contacts we had for that specific office, no reply. We must have called more than 50 times, we tried the Barcelona airport hundreads of times too, no one would pick up, or the call would simply get disconnected before someone picked it up. We had a flight to catch in that same day, and we had already lost 2h on trying to resolve this. We had a key to return and nowhere to return it, which is crazy. Finally, we friend the Drivalia Madrid office, they picked up and were shocked to hear about our situation, they tried to Connect us to the Barcelona airport phone line, again no call no reply. As we had a flight to catch, we obviously left for the airport, after more than 3h on trying to fix it. Their luck was that we had a friend who lived in Barcelona and she went to return the key in the next day. When she went there she found out they actually had a locker on the parking lot, and they were supposed to give us a paper explaining it when we pick up the car in the 1st place, but they forgot. Then, to just add even more stress, they charged us for 1250EUR credit card deposit (even if on the contract it said the deposit was less), and it took me 2weeks to have the money unblocked. It was for sure the worst possible experience, no communication, no respect for others
This rental car office is very dangerous, and my backpack was stolen in the office when I rent a car. There was no apology or compensation from the office. If you are to rent a car in night at the office, you must have keep in mind that your bag or purse can be stolen.
Like most people who have left a review had a terrible experience with the deposit and insurance. They accepted the rental with a debit but forced us to take either of two options for insurance. One of which was with credit card which we did not have. I told them I already had full coverage through rentalcars.com (booking.com) but they said I have to get their insurance anyways. Because we didn't have a credit card to block 1000 euros they made us pay another 75 euros. I asked rentalcars.com afterwards and they confirmed that the extra insurance from Drivalia is not actually necessary. Ontop of this their insurance option also meant we had to deposit 200 euros incase of damaged or anything like that. I just received back this amount after a month only because I started emailing them about the money. The guy at the car return said this would take about a week. We chose drivalia because they were the cheapest but recommend you just spend the little bit of extra money and use one of the better known companies.
A car rental agency that does not require a deposit. We received a well-maintained car and traveled to France and Andorra. However, additional insurance is needed for trips abroad. Everything was smooth and quick!
Drivalia was the cheapest option for an automatic transmission when I was exploring rental options, and for this price, I got an almost new Ford Kuga (only 15,000 km). Great value for money! However, two things spoiled my impression. First, the exterior of the car was dirty and covered in bird droppings. I was immediately concerned that the interior would be dirty too, but fortunately, it was in decent condition. The second issue was that they didn't return my fuel deposit until I contacted them via WhatsApp two weeks after the rent, as I had started to worry. It turned out there was an issue, and I was asked to provide my card number again. I'm not sure I would have received the deposit if I hadn't reached out to them.
They don't answer their phone, only their email. The car itself was OK but the experience was quite bad. I had to pay them 1250 euro insurance for the car in case something happens. They blocked the money from my credit card and it took them 3 weeks to return them to me. And this was only after i was calling them and emailing them that they haven't returned my money. The lady was saying that it takes 2-3 weeks for international transactions which is complete nonsense. After I told them that i contacted my bank and i want my money they unblocked them which had immediate effect. Overall bad experience because they make you wait for your money and leave you a bitter feeling about your vacation. Would not recommend.
