I absolutely love this modest place in the middle of Banyoles. The food is amazing with original twists on Spanish tapas and other dishes which are, I would say, served in over-sized (compared to standard tapas) portions. Marta the owner speaks English and is always very welcoming. Seems only to be open Thursday Friday Saturday and then just for lunch on Sundays. I can easily eat here three nights in a row.

I was recommended this place from the owner of a villa my family stayed in after sharing with him that we were struggling to get vegan food in the area. He said Al Born had a vegan tapas menu and so we went along. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was the chef. She presented us with a beautiful selection of tapas which were tasty, well presented and all freshly prepared from scratch. We enjoyed it so much that we asked if we could visit again the following evening for my birthday. She offed to prepare us a new menu and would make me a birthday cake, we felt so spoilt and looked after. When we returned the next day we were presented with a hand written vegan menu of which we tried almost everything which again was amazing. I was then given a carrot and dark chocolate birthday cake, hand made and delicious. Thanks again to all the staff that were so kind and caring, we had a wonderful experience and you made our visits very special indeed.

Good attention. We took the food to take away and of course, it is not the same as plated on the premises, as befits a good rating. Therefore my assessment is not very reliable. Anyway, both the food and the packaging to take home were very good. All recyclable which is important and generally good. Surely the same thing on the premises would be much better. All the best

With gluten sensitivity I tasted amazing dishes suitable: croquettes, bravas, courgette carpaccio, chicken steaks and a delicious risotto. Recommended! Congratulations!
