We rented a car to be picked up at the Airport Cicar. The CarPlay didn't work, we asked for help, some guy came to see what was happening and was no helpful at all, he blamed it on the cable saying it was not original (it was) and said we should just be fine with using the car's gps he said we could go to Cicar Arrecife to see if they would change the car. We came and it turns out it is supposed to be closed (the airport guy obviously didn't have the intention of helping us in anyway), but the woman in charge didn't not only let us talk to her, she helped us and was SO kind. We will be renting again because of her, because the first experience was disappointing.
Unbeliveable speeding in Cruise harbour area - 100 km/h and above. Does Not Care about anybodys life. Was definetly a employee, Not a Rentner.
Why would you even let someone book a car during a time when your office isn't open...
We made an online booking to collect a car from the cruise port and deliver it back. When we arrived both the cruise port office was closed as was the one on the Marina. Fortunately our Receptionist on our cruise ship spoke Spanish and was able to contact Customer Services. They sent a representative out who took us to the airport and a car was available there for us. When we finally were able to leave it had taken up about 2 hours of our time.
I had great experiences with Cicar at several other locations, but I was disappointed with this one. I looked up my confirmation email after reserving my rental car with Cicar in Arrecife for a vacation last month. In my confimation email, pick up location is listed as: "Arrecife." NO ADDRESS is given! Also no general description for the location was given (like "port" or "downtown"). Well, there are two locations for Cicar in Arrecife, and I didn't know that. So I took a rather pricey taxi and arrived at the wrong rental car location. The Arrecife port rental car location (which, please note is NOT THE SAME port as where cruise ships dock!) did not have any cars for me, since my reservation was for the other location. So then I had to wait for another taxi to take us to their other (downtown) location. The employee helped me call a taxi (given that my Spanish is poor). But 15 minutes later, no taxi had arrived. I requested again from the employee to assist with a taxi and he was rude and said there was nothing he could do. It was a lengthy delay for a short port visit. We did finally manage to make it to the downtown rental car location. Once there, they did not have an automatic, which is what I had reserved. I was given a manual. Honestly I think I should have received compensation for the lack of service and failure to deliver the car as promised, but no compensation was offered. I was quite disappointed. On the day of this misadventure, I thought I had maybe mixed up my car reservation locations... but actually they just DIDN'T PROVIDE the pick up address to me. So it was their fault, not mine.
I seldomly post reviews but I thought I had reserved an automatic car for 3 days and it turned out to be manual. Normally no issue except I am from the US and unfortunately, I can't drive manual (I should learn). I don't have everyone's name at the airport CICAR who helped but I believe his name was Naim and he helped out a ton and switched me over to an automatic and I enjoyed my time on the island. 100% will be using CICAR only whenever I come to canaries.
Fast and efficient service. The lady who served us was very kind. Here we changed vehicles very easily, when the tire on the one we had originally rented went flat. Here we also returned easily and quickly the vehicle we had rented to the airport.
Great service! Even open the office on Sunday for 1 customer. The vehicle is fully insured. Driving an EV on island is fun.
